Its amazing to see how the river has frozen. Wrapping up ( similar to bundling up, no?) is the key to you staying warm. I've heard the term cold wave when there is a period of extremely cold weather I was looking up the terms you use, cold snap and cold spell, and I found that depending on the region, they use either of these three terms. By the way, spell and snap have multiple meanings as well. The same with the word tidbit, another new world for me. That is one of the reasons I love your lessons because as you speak naturally, we are learning new words and phrases in context. In one word = REAL ENGLISH.
Sliding on ice, the sound of walking on snow, the strange silence in extremely cold weather, the breathtaking patterns of bare tree branches against the deep blue sky, and the way cold air makes one aware of their own breath-this video brought back many details that transported me to my childhood memories.❄️☁️🥹 In the town where I grew up, the deep silence that settled over such weather allowed me to feel my presence in nature and reflect more deeply. This, in turn, helped me develop a stronger spiritual connection. It’s sad to know that experiencing this in the chaos of the city is no longer really possible. But thankfully, magical gifts like your video help bring those feelings back. Thanks a lot for this unique lesson! Have a great day! Bye 👋 😎 🌹 💐 ♥️
@@LearnEnglishwithBobtheCanadianI think your lessons contain rich layers that will provide many benefits in addition to learning English. Thanks for that! 💯♥️🌹💐😎👍
I’ve been living in the south of Russia for about 20 years already now , but I spent the most part of my life in the north, I was born in the far north and I remember wearing many layers of clothes under the temperature of - 40 to about 60 degrees Celsius. It was really challenging! But we, children, always had many nice and cool things to do. Thank you, Bob for reminding me of that time😊
Hi, Bob! I've just found out we have one more thing in common-we're true tree huggers❤ We have -10 here now, but it was a real freezer last year-28❄️❄️❄️So, we had not only to bundle up but put on one more layer-a balaclava to go skiing😁 Stay warm🌈
Good morning teacher Bob!!! Ooooohhhhh, QUÉ beautiful descriptions of your place!!! Imagine how people could live and work there during the winter times... Very Cold!!! Thank you teacher... Have a good day!!!🙏🙏🙏🍀🍀🍀🤗🙋
New vocabulary! Thank you, Bob. I guess I have heard the third one (snowed under) but the first and second are just like a pristine snowfall. Have a great week!
Hello Bob.Incredible that is a frozen river..!! I couldn't stand those down temperatures. Takes care Dear and thanks for exposing the topic in real life.God bless you.
Hello, Bob 👋)! Thank you for this snowy lesson ❄️ 💙! We have the same weather right now. And as you mentioned about your favorite trees, I remember my favorite trees near here in the forest. I love to hug the pine tree, it's not as huge as that you hugged in this video, but still beloved. Nature in the winter is amazing, when it's white 🤍 and snowy)!
I know people who have "their" trees, they hug and talk to them from time to time. In childhood, we had one favourite tree, quite big and spreading, and we often climbed on it. We called it "The monkey tree" (for some unknown reason). Unfortunately, today it (or should I say she or he) doesn't live any more, it was old enough already then. Best wishes
I was a little worried seeing you jumping on the ice because I dropped into an icehole in a frozen pond when I was a kid and that scared and frozen me to die.😂Thank you for your video. Feel so cold across the screen.🥶
There are two things a would like to talk about cold weater in my part of the world (Republic Karelia north-west of Russia). The first one - if it is really cold about -18 as now it is almost every time really sunny and make us being a bit optimistic. Second one a long time ago i saw elderly people walking outside when it is really cold covering whole nose with a hand (in a glove for sure) preventing freezing their noses. It was not looked cool, but people done that. Nowadays i do not see people walking like that, even if it is really cold.
Hi Bob. Another great video, I really enjoyed it! The walk by the river was awesome, but I do have to ask-why did you jump on the frozen river by yourself? 🤔 It seemed a bit risky without anyone with you, especially with how cold it was! I’m sure you know the ice well, but it made me wonder. Thank you 🌼
I have never seen snow. I live in a country where the equator line crosses. We just have 2 seasons, that is, The dry season or summer and the rainy season. We're at this moment in the rainy season. It rains a lot.
Hi Bob, I think I've already asked this but I can't remember whom and when 😄 But did't get an answer I don't think. So, is there a noun in English that defines negative temperatures, below zero Celcius? So, discussing a weather back in the day when it was like -2, -5, or -10 or whatever minus, you can use that X word for negative temperatures to say e.g. 'it was X this Monday'. You can think of it as an extreme opposite of 'heat'. I've just thought Canadians might know and use such word if there is one 😀 Thank you!
Hi Teacher, thank you for the lesson. In my country, we don't face that kind of weather. So, I was wondering if I could know how it happens with pupils or students who have class when it's bitterly cold even black ice on the roads. Do they just stay at home or manage to go to school?
As a person who’s not experienced with snow I wouldn’t know when it’s safe to go across a river that’s frozen over 🥶🧊⛸️ Also not expecting to learn that Bob has a favourite tree …and that he wears Stanfield’s- 😂
You have gone very far from home. Aren't you afraid that a hungry bear or wolf might be around? Danger doesn't give a warning and is always lurking. 🌹🙏❤
The way you wear are not suitable for cold weather. 1st, cotton jeans are deadly in this weather. Try soft shell (fleece with windbreaker shell) or padded pants (with Thinsulate or Primaloft with windbreaker shell). 2nd your woven hat is not wind-proof (needs Thinsulate or Primaloft with windbreaker shell again)

Hi Bob can I say "blowing smoke from mouth while breathing" in English?
Why long John?😅

There is another expression like it's too chilling or something like that, not sure about spelling. It's normal the people says you stay warm,
You have gone very far from home. Aren't you afraid that a hungry bear or wolf might be around?

The extreme cold weather is really really bad for farming , do you agree with me ? 🤝
