I think Euphoria 54 is to be compared with Swan 54 and not Swan 55. Nautor's Swan seems to have created "55" to keep up with the latest trend of keeping the max beam all the way to the stern. Given the option between Euphoria 54 and Swan 54, I would definitely choose Euphoria. Same designer, at least the same engineering quality and lower price.
With this Swan 55, Nautor's Swan seems to be giving in to the latest trend of keeping the max beam all the way to the stern. This is one remarkable difference compared to Swan 54 which has beautiful classical lines. The sole reason of not updating the Swan 54 but instead coming up with Swan 55 could be hedging their bets in the market... The end result seems to be a great boat but I wonder if and how it changes the sailing characteristics from 54 to 55. I wonder if Euphoria yachts will do the same with their 54.
I am sure you are on to something. This boat will not go upwind the same and lack the sea-kindly nature in bigger seas of a more traditional Swan hull shape. It will be faster downwind and be roomier aft. If you want "that" boat, buy a Club Swan. When I look at a Swan, I'm looking for a boat that handles weather like an Island Packet while staying fast and maneuverable like a J/boat. All while having a fit and finish complete unmatched.
simple as beatifull , like the see ... a perfect system that flows best regards from sailingargovia captain !!! fantastic review! congrats!! I really enjoyed
Compared to Swan 54, this Swan 55 has a beamy aft in line with current trends. Basically German Frers replicated in Swan 55 what he had already done for Euphoria 54.
Great boat, anyone else wonder about sharing a bathroom with guests? I'd love to see more office options built into show boats. Toby, I think you're spot on. You're not really going to host two or three couples on a 55 anyway. I could see my wife and I picking up our son in port and just hosting one, where an office would be very appealing.
Swan never disappoints, the boards on the floor creak a little, but nothing that a little moisture won't solve It looks as well made as other swan models BUT they have this weird space layout but I realized they don't make them for charter so they only have two cabin layout options
Frers indeed seems to have adopted the latest trend of boxy aft design. The major difference between Swan 54 and Swan 55. Anynody knows how it effects the sailing characteristics?
This truly is one of those "OH, MY GOD!!!" moments, when you see this incredibly beautiful boat soar across the waves. Thank you for yet another incredible and well produced yachting video!
Beautiful boat. Just worry about the Mediterranean cockpit on a boat that should be slightly more bluewater bias compared to Club Swans. Feel more comfortable in a Oyster cockpit making passages.
The helm stations aren't back far enough. Should of put them down on that beaver tail 2 inches away from the rear edge. The captain can will just have enough room for his tippy toes to stand and steer. What a ridiculous design.
@@metegokce697 The latest Bavaria 55 that is no longer in production also has a similar dinghy garage. That boat has a manual back-up way to open and close that dinghy garage. There’s a Norwegian dude who is solo-sailing one of those here on RUclips (Sailing with Thomas). He has demonstrated it on his channel since the motorized part of his garage door broke for some reason. Guessing some similar back-up way to open and close exists on this Swan… And: Aren't all boats compromises in some way. The pros of a Dingy Garage seems to be that the center of gravity is kept low, sun protection of the Dinghy and that it's a secure way of stowage in 'demanding' sea conditions... That Thomas dude also outlines his way of reasoning for choosing a boat with a garage in one of his videos...
Swan know their market, they will sell plenty of these, but I find these big open cockpits with side seating only for the helm very insecure, exposed and uncomfortable for short handed offshore passages. The only reason we see this ubiquitous feature is to fit in fit in the dinghy garage, but this one looks as if loading an unloading even a modest rib & outboard would take some serious muscle. When I am alone on watch at night I want to be ‘in’ the cockpit, not perched on the rail, I also want the chart table / nav station at the bottom of the companionway for easy voice comms to the on deck crew. But for the Med / Carribs & the odd regatta I supose this ticks some boxes.
For 99% of sailors boats like this are perfect. A tiny minority does offshore sailing. And even for offshore sailing a boat like this can easily handle anything thrown at it in speed and luxury.
What a great choice there is now in the 50ish foot range. Hallberg. Oyster, and Swan. At seventy I won't be around when they become affordable on the used market so thanks for showing us what we are missing. Now? where did I park my old Contessa? Nurse, nurse!😀
The video should include a shot of an average height person sat on a saloon seat by a hull window to check the hull window size & positioning is correct.
Modern boats are just like modern cars. All the bells and whistles but zero personality. All as bland and impersonal as a hotel room. Priced to suit the tasteless rich. Did anyone say Formosa 51 ?
What a wonderful work of art!
Pretty exciting presentation... For once, I might be willing to trade Azuree 46 or Grand Soleil GS 48 for this Swan...
It would be great if you also reviewed the competitor Euphoria 54. Also designed by German Frers...
Agree!

I don't think they are rivals more like sisters and both yachts are incredible.

Nice 55 foot day sailor, complete with the 'boy racer' cockpit configuration.
Exposed electronics with rear open?

I see the forward shower door opens out, I believe this will allow water to seep out on the cabin sole and stain it and possibly rot the sole?

German Frers & Swan = a great style !
Beautiful boat, lucky owners.
Swan is now taking firm steps towards becoming a Vulture.

A pleasure! Thanks Leon
Beautiful! 🎉❤
Very nice..! And, finally, someone producing a decent-sized boat (55-footer) that's not crammed full of tiny cabins...
So it's either this or the Outremer 55.
Choices, choices, choices...

They've given it a wide stern with dual rudders, must have got some drawings mixed up at the design office.
This really feels like a beautiful sailing yacht. Certainly unlike that ugly barge neatly marketed as "monocat" by certain French mass producer...
Nice boat for the wealthy couple. A lot of changes for liveaboards crossing oceans, perhaps better to buy a more fitting or used boat. Less expensive.
Thank you Toby, does Swann 55 have an option for a bimini or cockpit cover weather shade ? Cheers
Indeed - Swan says it offers awnings and bikinis designed for this cockpit (something they've done well on other recent models too)
@@yachtingworld look forward to you seeing how she sails thank you for specs
@@yachtingworld Really? Would want to see those bikinis!
@@SA-zv4wr Haha. Ben baktım Swan'ın sitesinde bikini yoktu...
That dingy garage is a bit over-engineered and prone to malfunction in the worst time, no?
Why would you be using a dinghy garage 'at the worst time'?
@@yachtingworld You have a point I guess! It is just that the simpler a mechanical system is, there are less points of failure.

thank you, very nice sailboat
Idk.. felt the layout to be kinda different. Didn't sit well in my mind.
Comment for the sake of comment. Thanks Toby. Excellent review
Thank you!
Stunning!
nice boat
Strange configuration
Agree!
Such an impressive boat. Sleek and modern. Thanks for review

I can't get past the unprotected helms of this style of boat
That’s a lot of boat for 1.8 mil. Nice job.

I Don't like it.
Plain and boring ,and smaller than most 40' yachts inside because of the garage.
Agree!
Island packet 439
Oh my god, I am in LOVE 🥰. What a sexy beast! Swan sure know how to make beautiful sailboat.
Looks like almost every other boat on the market ,just more expensive
I’d take a amel 50 or 60 instead any day

If swan could figure out how to use ocean trash to make faux teak that looked better than the rest .
Gunboat sneaking into the background.
sweet Beneteau!
