Someone dropped the ball on this. This show had a lot of potential to be great! How could it not with Bette and Mary Wickes?!

      @billgreen1861 9 месяцев назад +8

      Hevynly1,
I, agree that someone dropped the ball on this one, even though it looks like she was reprising her character, Margo Channing because that's all I kept thinking throughout the situation because of the hair style, and the way she wore the furs not to mention the way she smoked her cigarettes. But, nevertheless it left me wanting more. Who doesn't like Bette Davis !? That was a statement not a question by the way.

This is a gem that didn't get the proper recognition it deserved...It's a prime example of being rich without taste. Bette Davis was outstanding in a comedic role..

I hope the network executives who turned down this as a series lost their jobs...this waa so humorous and enchanting. Bette Davis as a interior decorator who breezes into peoples lives and not only fixes up their homes but fixes their lives and relationship...sort of like a heavy drinking, chain-smoking, wise-cracking fairy godmother LOL

Bette was considered a great dramatic actress and I guess the producer of these episodes did not feel she would be accepted
    They definitely underestimated!

But at least half the dramatic roles she performed had dialogue of such great wit, she was still funny - ALL ABOUT EVE, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE, THE BRIDE CAME C.O.D.

Bette & Joan ❤ What more can one ask for from classic icon Hollywood legends. This little gem would have taken off. It kinda reminds me of Delta Burke and the girls in Designing Women. These Golden Age actresses wanted nothing more than to keep working, I think. Bette Davis, Joan Blondell, Barbara Stanwyck, Joan Crawford and so many others keep popping up on shows like this. (I think we'd see Harlow on vintage TV too, if she'd lived.) Every one of these women still had a lot to offer. Especially Bette. I wish the movie studios had realized this. My God, they weren't decrepit! Bette looks good in these. And that shouldn't be a consideration anyway. Movies are stories, and stories can have all kinds of people in them - including "women of a certain vintage".

This film is carried by two giganticums, Bette Davis and that wonderful Producer extraordinare, Aaron Spelling.
"Mr. Spelling found success in almost every genre, including Westerns (his first series, in 1959, was "Johnny Ringo"), police shows ("Starsky and Hutch," "SWAT," "T. J. Hooker"), family drama ("Family," a rare critical success for Mr. Spelling), escapist anthology ("Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island"), glossy adult soap opera ("Dynasty") and youth-oriented soaps ("90210" and "Melrose Place"). For the most part his shows were as despised and denigrated by critics as they were loved by audiences. The New Yorker once labeled him a "schlock merchant." Mr. Spelling himself memorably described his oeuvre as "mind candy."
And to think that this little boy, a son of a tailor, a Russian Jewish immigrant, was born in Dallas, Texas, at the age of eight, psychosomatically lost the use of his legs due to trauma caused by constant anti-semitic bullying from his schoolmates, and was confined to bed for a year, making a full recovery, dying from the effects of a stroke at the age of 83 in 2006 after giving us a prolific Legacy of such diverse and quality entertainment...and of course, making a packet of money for himself. His first wife was actress, Carolyn Jones, the original Morticia Addams in the television series, the Addams Family. Carolyn Jones had no children and died at the age of 53 in 1983 from colon cancer. She had married 4 times.

My words exactly, The Feud series wanted to point out how sad it was that Bette was forced to do television, but Miss Davis comes off as a woman who takes pride in her work no matter what, and had she been given the chance to carry a television that would've lasted a few years, I'm sure she would have jumped at the chance with optimism and yearning to produce good work.

It tooks over 2 weeks of annoying her before she finally flipped me off! haha Then after another week and half she stopped with widow rolled up and barely to see what she was saying finally I got the figer again and never saw her in person again! The simple things are always the Best!!! That until my Parents came home from dinner at The Newman's and mentioned a story Bette told about this crazy bare tan boy that would jump around and yell at her as she passed! And the way they looked at me! As if I would be in that part of town.,please we lived on the Beach every Summer! My stated it was September.I pretended to not hear that and to my room. Who woulda thought Bette was a bid ole tattletale! Ya know, Bert Convey was there too and didn't he do a show "Tatletales"? I think someone owes me a few dollars but getting the bird from Miss Davis was [pay enough! Believe it or not, I could care hahhhahha

this would have been a fun series with Bette Davis in it. She did not get to do comedy enough.

I loved her in two of the creepiest movies in the past. One was the NANNY and the other movie is called Whatever Happened to Baby Jane."

@@matildadhumxoxo5801 Yes, the second film you mentioned is quite well-known. There was even a poorly conceived remake for television of "Baby Jane" starring real-life sisters, the British actresses Lynn and Vanessa Redgrave.
If you enjoyed "Baby Jane," I wholeheartedly recommend you watch the FX mini-series "Feud: Bette & Joan," which is all about the legendary feud between Davis and her "Baby Jane" co-star, actress Joan Crawford, during the period just before, during an after the film was being made.

She was a pretty good comedienne. Check out 'The Bride Came C.O.D.". Made in 1941 with James Cagney. Very funny.

@@buffalopatriot I love The Bride Came C.O.D. Bette should’ve done more films like it. Probably if It Happened One Night didn’t exist first it’d been a big hit. She’s so pretty there too. She’s so cute with that scene on the roof.
