A diuretic is any substance that induces the production of urine from the body. In medicine, diuretics are used to treat a wide variety of conditions including heart failure, hypertension, liver cirrhosis and certain kidney diseases.
There are 5 classes of diuretics that our visual mnemonic describes: Loop diuretics, Thiazide Diuretics, Carbonic Anhydrase inhibitors, Potassium sparing diuretics, and Osmotic diuretics.
Drugs looked at in this tutorial: Furosemide, Bendroflumethiazide, Hydrochlorothiazide, Metolazone, Acetazolamide, Methazolamide, Spironolactone, Eplerenone, Amiloride, and Mannitol.

I really like ur video about different diuretics,l was hoping u recommend the best one to take w each HBP med e.g. I diovan 160mg & 12.5 hydroclorothiazide (generic) coz my HBP readings r 150/90 even though I exercise 3x a wk (tennis) & I eat what I want & 2 mugs of coffee a day, & I my arms r fat like water retention not my feet & ankles they’re normal I have tried other HBP meds like lisinopril made me cough, & few others Atenolol is good & work great 25mg w 12.5 Hydrocl. but weight gain prob if long term, so can u help which diuretic work better results w what HBP med, my Dr & I never talk about & I didn’t know there other diuretics appreciate very much ur advice on this thank you👍
