Hold up- You are NOT supposed to use CEphs if there is a true PCN allergy. Alternatives are macrolides, Bactrim or Clindamycin NOT cephalosporins.
There is a actually cross- reactivity betweens Cephs and PCNs. in 5-10% pts.
True! They cause cross Sensitivity because of they also have beta lactam ring in their structure like penicillins
Yeah this is true! if you have an anaphylactic reaction/ hives from penicillin, DO NOT give Cephalosporins!
I noticed that too, otherwise I like the picmonics!
I think they meant if there isn’t any penicillin on hand for someone who isn’t allergic.
