Beak trimming is something very common for us in the puffer world. Especially with puffers like yours that have an overbite. Our newer puffers passed because we were unable to trim their beaks because of how small they were. Fortunately our big boy Chomperz has nice teeth and no problem eating anything hard. I've seen where puffers get their teeth filled with a Dremel but that's when they grow up to full size! You did awesome! Quick and easy and stimulated the fish to get some water flowing in the gills!
Amazing stuff. Great to know your process on how you did it in your water in case I ever need it up here. Emergency last case surgery. This was very informative video that I will use as a baseline to figure out what works in my conditions if I ever need to trim a puffer. A few projects: raising my just hatched mekong river puffer fry, observing the orinoco dwarf pike fry once they are brought out of the cave and pulling those at 60 days or so, getting eggs from the hairy puffer colony, breeding the rest of the species I keep, and figuring out the best way to sustain a blackworm colony up here on the mountain.
I have heard about people trimming their puffers teeth but have never seen it. Glad you did such a good detail on how to do this. Good luck in the future on them being able to crunch down.
A job wel-don! 👏🏼

Dr. Trent to the rescue that was very informative i hope you keep us updated on if they can keep them ground down with a proper diet now.
Got plans for them in the fish room, you will see them again
Thoroughly enjoyed the video man! There aren't many out there on this topic so it's nice to see another to help compare and contrast. Good stuff!
