FreeCAD 1.1.0dev is still under development and there is a new feature in Assembly Workbench for animation. It is called "Create Simulation". This video shows how to create the simulation for rotating or sliding objects, and how to set up limits in the simulation.

Very good video. Like the first comment, it would be interesting if we can animate with keyframes like in blender the movement of each part to make an explode assembly. Maybe Freecad is working on.

Thank you! I see what you mean. It would be nice to have this feature in FreeCAD Assembly Workbench.

    Your videos are extremely useful!!!
I assembled some parts in assembly 4 and created a simple animation (with 2 gears). I saved the video in mp4 format. The question is how can I save it and have the source file from the animation? For example, for 3d models the source file is step file, but for animations what format is it?

Thank you! When I create the Assembly 4 file, I use "Animate Assembly" icon to run the animation. It is within FreeCAD. The motion is usually slower if the construction is complex. So I export it to MP4 to see faster motion. Back to your question, there is no separate file for the Assembly 4 animation. It is a FreeCAD file that you can use Assembly 4 to do the animation. Hope this help. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Would be nice a video showing a exploded view animation!😁

Thank you for watching! Do you mean a "step by step assembling animation" of this double universal joint? It can be done by the Exploded View Workbench. If yes, I will try to make one. Please let me know.

I mean: do a assembly using some parts, and use the animations tools to make them explode and then back to inicial positions! 👉

Hi, I did some videos for Exploded Assembly for bearing and flexible coupling:
      ruclips.net/video/xnK-bA9FRtA/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/bm7yMa7Vr8Q/видео.html
please see if these are what you are interested in. If you want to see the Exploded Assembly of a particular construction, please let me know. Thanks.

Is it possible to simulate a complex/arbitrary cam profile for a cam and follower?

Hi, I haven't found a way to do it yet. When I attach a follower to the curve surface of the cam, it attaches to the center. Will let you know if I find the solution.

With Assembly, is it possible to do Animation Spring (Curves WB -> Compression Spring) ?

It needs a variable do it. In the Assembly Workbench, the variable is "time" , but I still haven't found out where to access this variable. Will let you know if I find anything for it.
