Great conversation. For me, Spider-Man web-shooters are a perfect(a term I don't use lightly) distillation of who Peter Parker is. He's a genius who was able to figure out the mechanics of how they operated with electronics and physics and the chemical component with his webbing. Seeing Peter manage to assemble them with little resources( something I find is very understated in the movies, outside Civil War which emphasized Parker's dumpster diving) and also being a limitation to Spider-Man in that his shooters can be damaged or he can run out of webbing. Brandon Sanderson, one of my favorite fantasy writers, is famous for coming up with the term hard magic: magic with rules and limitations. And in his third law, he says Limitations > Capabilities. We like seeing a character face an obstacle, whether it be mental, physical, spiritual or some combination. Having Parker deal with resource limitations or items that can break, alongside the drama I find actually makes Spider-Man compelling.
All in all, there's a reason why Peter Parker is associated with Spider-Man and his web-shooters are a big part of who Parker is: someone who is resourceful, resilient, and capable.

Fun Fact: the Spider-Man Unlimited cartoon that ran for 1 season ORIGINALLY planned to have Venom but he's not Eddie, he's Counter-Earth Peter who never got rid of the black suit because Uncle Ben lived. It woulda been Good Spider-Man VS Evil Spider-Man.

@24:59 you hit the nail on the head when people wonder why characters like Ironheart don't seem to resonate vs a character like Peter Parker. The potential is there but the execution is just all wrong.

You guys don't get it. You grew up having the comfort of a loving family so what you found interesting was conflict and struggle. For young people these days comfort is the fantasy.

Look at the rise of anime and manga and how much of that is just "slice of life" stuff where the fantasy is "a young man makes good friends and also his parents love him and sometimes he gets to talk to girls."
