  • Hello and welcome to Basic Fishing from New Zealand. Welcome to the another surfcasting video of Basic Fishing. In this video I was out with Lee and tried our luck on some surfcasting. Once again it's been a long time since I've done any surfcasting and it felt great to be back on the beach. The morning was very productive with fish biting our bait off from every cast. Was hard work with the small snappers stripping the bait but both me and Lee were able to land some good snappers. We also saw a few eagle rays cruising in the shallows including an infant which was a rare sight. It was a great day's fishing, considering the hard work we had to put in. Hope to have another awesome session soon.

    Awesome to see you out surfcasting again and the snaps chewing looks like a great fishing zone there and a perfect day. What do you think the fish was that you lost?

      @@BasicFishingNZ sweet mate I’ll give it a try. As this mullet was near 30cm long and they get pretty big where I fish! What about hiwihiwi/kelpfish and spotty?

    • @BasicFishingNZ
      @BasicFishingNZ  5 месяцев назад

      my parents prepare hiwihwi in a spicy stew and spotty if i remember the flesh was flaky when cooked

    😂 bro you we're fishing like your life depended on it. Just curious, why were you concerned about the snapper croaking (i think you said bara trauma or something) ive had snaps make that noise too.

    • @BasicFishingNZ
      @BasicFishingNZ  5 месяцев назад +1

      in case they may not swim back properly especially the undersized ones. it was tricky cause of the reef that kept snagging the rigs hence thats why i had to wind in a bit faster to avoid it
