Great price. Works out to just over 7 dollars Canadian. Cheapest I have seen is $ 23 Canadian (14 pounds). I built the USS Gato kit, same scale. Fun little build. The top deck and superstructure were painted pink as in the film "Operation Petticoat".
Jimmy Carter was born in October of 1924. If he can live another 3 or 4 months after I left this comment, then he was one of the lucky ones who made it to 100 years old.
There are several of these £4.50 kits available on Amazon, German U boat, Japanese, Russian etc.. You could build an international fleet for very little money. Ideal for a quick build.

I have done the PLA Navy Type 033G by them. Costs twice as much as the Jimmy Carter but you get more parts and photo etched railings! Simple but fun.
Now I've had to order it along with an Akula class at the same price !
