Sonic the Hedgehog[a] is a video game series and media franchise created by the Japanese developers Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Hirokazu Yasuhara for Sega. The franchise follows Sonic, an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who battles the evil Doctor Eggman, a mad scientist. The main Sonic the Hedgehog games are platformers mostly developed by Sonic Team; other games, developed by various studios, include spin-offs in the racing, fighting, party and sports genres. The franchise also incorporates printed media, animations, feature films, and merchandise.
Naka, Ohshima, and Yasuhara developed the first Sonic game, released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis, to provide Sega with a mascot to compete with Nintendo's Mario. Its success helped Sega become one of the leading video game companies during the fourth generation of video game consoles in the early 1990s. Sega Technical Institute developed the next three Sonic games, plus the spin-off Sonic Spinball (1993). A number of Sonic games were also developed for Sega's 8-bit consoles, the Master System and Game Gear. After a hiatus during the unsuccessful Saturn era, the first major 3D Sonic game, Sonic Adventure, was released in 1998 for the Dreamcast. Sega exited the console market and shifted to third-party development in 2001, continuing the series on Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation systems. Takashi Iizuka has been the series' producer since 2010.
While Sonic games often have unique game mechanics and stories, they feature recurring elements such as the ring-based health system, level locales, and fast-paced gameplay. Games typically feature Sonic setting out to stop Eggman's schemes for world domination, and the player navigates levels that include springs, slopes, bottomless pits, and vertical loops. Later games added a large cast of characters; some, such as Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, and Shadow the Hedgehog, have starred in spin-offs. The franchise has crossed over with other video game franchises in games such as Mario & Sonic, Sega All-Stars, and Super Smash Bros.
Sonic the Hedgehog is Sega's flagship franchise and one of the bestselling video game franchises, selling over 140 million units by 2016 and grossing over $5 billion as of 2014. Series sales and free-to-play mobile game downloads totaled 1.6 billion as of 2023. The Genesis Sonic games have been described as representative of the culture of the 1990s and listed among the greatest of all time. Although later games, notably the 2006 game, received poorer reviews, Sonic is influential in the video game industry and is frequently referenced in popular culture. The franchise is known for its fandom that produces unofficial media, such as fan art and fangames.

Andre Meadows the Black Nerd did a video on the Knuckles trailer and he speculated that the villains using tech powered by Knuckles quills to power their tech could be a setup for a Metal Sonic powered by one of Sonic's quills.
Sonic X was my favorite version of Knuckles since he was the voice of reason to Sonic’s cockiness
Is it me or does Knuckles look more muscular in this show compared to Sonic 2?
It seems like all the characters have new models that make them look older like sonics one is extremely noticeable he’s taller and more mature looking

Can’t lie Knuckles made me Smile and Laugh Every Single Minute I see Him in this Trailer, it might be because this Year is his 30th Anniversary and looks much better than Megamind 2
*I know a lot of people get sick of the human characters in things like this, but I actually like seeing the Sonic characters interact with the real world, And the humans reacting to their presence.* Having these sort of alien-like creatures fit into a regular Society I always found pretty neat 👍
i do hope the success of the sonic films might encourage sega to have humans return to the games

I like the Idea of the Knuckles show how It Is Is fine by me, I think they'd save more Characters for movies and If they bring new Characters It'd probably be an end credit last episode type thing

I am starting to think that there will be a significant timeskip between Sonic Movie 2 and Movie 3, with mostly unimportant events occurring, and the Knuckles show will show us many of those events while the movie might just reference them here and there.
Good video as usual, Pup. I am looking forward to the Knuckles series - it isn't what I would have made, but the trailer pretty much reassured me that many of the things I was worried about probably won't be problems. I think I will enjoy it. Here's hoping it sticks the landing.

Crazy enough we are getting another trailer today at the Superbowl
1. Something that caught me off guard is the amount of money they are pouring into this. I fully expected it to be a self-contained adventure where Knucles goes on his own adventure , with the rest of the cast making small cameos.
But, no, they got most of the cast to come back if probably only for a short while.
2. Pairing Knuckles and Wade was a suprisingly good call tbh. Their personalities mesh really well.
3. While I 100% would have liked a game villain, I do appreciate that they actually covered the idea of Robotnik's tech being used by others after it gets scattered. Especially since , if this universe goes beyond 3 movies and a show, it would explain how Sonic's world went from completely normal human world to an absolute fustercluck where its not clear what the level of tech is
According to the Sonic Wiki Zone, Pachacamac actually survives the ordeal with Longclaw and ends up on earth working at a bowling alley as its manager.
Anyone can update that I assume?

Knuckles did glide in the second movie it happened when he was chasing down sonic and tails during their first encounter.
There is definitely a love of cult comedies hinted in this show. With references to Kingpin and Dodgeball so there being a Big Lebowski homage doesn’t surprise me.
Honestly, as a long Sonic fan, Im looking forward to this! I didn't have much of an expectation going in. So this was a pleasant surprise the witness the trailer being so fun and entertaining

They were never related in the games, just from the comics and I prefer the former than the latter.

I wouldn’t call x Shadow Generations as a spinoff game anymore than saying Trip’s mode in Superstars was a spinoff game.

Knuckles is my favourite Sonic character. I really liked him in Sonic 2. I don’t know much about Sonic but I like the second movie.

Considering how this is the first spin-off since 2005, it's too bad it looks bad. But I expected that. The only spin-off I would want about Knuckles is a streamlined cartoon adaptation of the Knuckles comic. But I still want a Silver spin-off game. After all, Shadow Generations isn't still technically a "spin-off". It's a glorified DLC. It still looks cool though.
