    I want to see a taq strap + belt combo that's rated as a rappelling harness.
    Mil units are already spending money on drop legs holsters, riggers belts, tourniquets, and climbing harnesses - it would be a super easy sell to have something that combines all of that into one combo, and it can be done for a fraction of the cost of those combined items with a hefty profit margin.

    I teach an Active Shooter course using airsoft pistols and rifles for civilians and the occasional cop who wants to join in. From being in the Marines or being a cop, this would been something I would wear every single day. A TQ is a pain to get on the leg especially high and tight to cut off flow to that femoral artery and this device just makes so much sense that I can’t believe no one ever made it. Can’t wait to buy some this month and teach my students in my upcoming courses and also really test them out as much as possible.

    Understand this is not a true tourniquet. This simply buys you time to properly engage your target(s) and slow bleeding; to eliminate the target or find ideal cover to properly apply a true tourniquet. And save your life.

      Exactly. I saw their ads on social media. They need to make it more clear that this does not replace a tourniquet, like they did in this video. There is no way that lever generates anywhere near the leverage you can get by yanking a cat and cranking the windless. Awesome product though.

    • @Roger-il8iw
      @Roger-il8iw 5 месяцев назад

      @@Whoreallyknowsthat’s the problem there is no way that lever generates enough leverage to stop bleeding. There is a major concern that using it can cause death. If someone is bleeding out seconds make a huge difference.
      If this can not match the effectiveness of a standard tourniquet than it may unintentionally cause more deaths.

    Won’t lie, haven’t personally tried it. But I’ve hear a lot of concern in reference to the lever size. Is it really able to generate enough leverage? I’ve applied tourniquets a few times. People don’t realize how much leverage it takes to apply. I like that you noted it “doesn’t replace” a standard tourniquet. As long as people understand that, seems like an awesome product

      it should apply enough pressure and as stated in the video, this primarily allows you to stop/slow the bleeding with one hand while keeping the other hand free for the radio or gun, and it does so in minimal time. you can apply a "better" tourniquet after the threat is gone.

    How do you adjust the circumference of the strap for different legs, sliding buckle? If you're using a sliding buckle for that, do you have to have adjustable plastic tongues for the ratchet mechanism or different length tongues? Can the ratchet system apply enough torque to break the plastic clip-together buckle? Willing to try one if not too expensive.

    1:22 Improper application of a tourniquet, you're supposed to pass the strap through the front loop and then the back loop pull it tight and then twist the rod. while this product is not a bad idea the media itself states: "This does not replace a traditional tourniquet.", so placing it low enough that the user may apply a traditional tourniquet above it might be a better design choice.

    I hate to do this but... No torniquete its applied below the knee, humbly I believe what he did its incorrect. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The torniquete function is to stop arterial blood circulation by applying pressure against one solid bone, AKA femur in this Case. Underneath the knee you have the tibia and fibula which those 2 bones have arteries in between that will never be compressed by torniquete. I'm not a medical professional but I have taken many "stop the bleeding" courses and that's the basics (high and tight like a haircut).

    • @moss8702
      @moss8702 Год назад +3

      No. You apply it above the sight of injury at minimum 2-3inches above the wound. If there are multiple injuries on the leg or you're unsure, it's suggested you go "High and tight". As high as possible on the thigh and tighten it. It's to pinch off the femoral artery/massive hemorrhage in general.

    • @AJuniorOutdoorsman
      @AJuniorOutdoorsman Год назад +1

      There are no studies that show applying TQs below the knee when the injury is also below the knee causes reduced effectiveness of the TQ

    • @Whoreallyknows
      @Whoreallyknows 9 месяцев назад

      High and tight is in case you get shot again you won’t have to move your tourniquet. It makes sense to apply it once not multiple times especially when you’re already bleeding.

    To all the people out there talking💩on this, for those of us in law enforcement who are dealing with some of the worst violent offenders on a daily basis, manytimes who just love to pull a gun, aim back, and shoot while fleeing during a foot pursuit, my biggest anxiety has always been getting shot in the leg. Yes, although deaths from shots to the leg for law enforcement officers are lethal less than 1% of the time, It's still nice to know that should I ever take that wrong shot to the femoral, I at least have a chance to make every second count when it comes to slowing down the bleeding while getting my a$$ to cover so I can throw on a windlass tourniquet. It takes seconds to bleed out if your femoral is, and any second that the bleeding can be slowed down Is a second that counts.
    This wasn't built for everyone. This was built for those of us who are responding to shootings and violent offenders on a daily basis in some of the worst crime-ridden cities in America who would rather draw a handgun and shoot than comply.
    Thank you Alien Gear for designing this. Just bought one for my drop leg holster on one leg and drop leg med kit on the other. Better to have and not need than to need and not have.
