I grew up in the seventies and eighties listening to the Dead. Every time I watch your videos, I feel like I'm back hanging out, partying and Jamming with my old friends again. Great vibes, Peace!
Congrats on 3000, whooohoooo! I love your vids and steal your mondays is super crunchy. For an old deadhead your channel is like a big tank and a bunch of balloons. Cant wait for all this years great content, thanks man.
man. i just found my doppelganger. this is crazy. just got into the dead last year. thanks for your videos. subscribed and i love your work. you've been helping me out and i am appreciative.
@@TobyDavvy Saw my first show in 7/4/89 buffalo, awesome show but it was before I really was a deadhead. so I didnt appreciate it. More into partying. You make the lessons interesting , I like it!! What do you think of Jerry and merle Keystone encores? Maybe do a lesson from there. One kind favor, second that emotion?
Thanks Davvy! Ive made so much progress in the past few months because of you and these lessons! You the man! How about a lovelight or china cat lesson in the next few weeks? Preesh !!!
Hey Davvy! Cheers from Brazil, where NOBODY knows the Dead! Thanks for all the awesome lessons, they always helps me play these songs I love so much for my friends who thinks the "Grateful Dead" is a hardcore metal band hahahaha Please, record a lesson for Jack-A-Roe! For days this tune are playing in repeat on my mind!
Dude, you're the best!! Great guitar player and I have fun watching you dick around. Thank you brother. Can't let this music fade. We will never see anything like it again. Great job keep it up. My hats off to you
Yo. you. Happy New Years... I know its kinda hard but could you do one on Stranger for maybe 2 guitars. I know its dorian and stuff.... Thanks.. (The Lone ranger was a stranger, how about you?)
It’s sad that so many people relate the Grateful Dead’s music to drugs. Their music is just great without drugs. 99% of lyrics and music has nothing to do with drugs.
This guy is absolutely annoying and obnoxious as fuck but... ya know he’s a really good teacher! Best quality dead lessons on the tube, I tune in not because I think you’re funny but because you do a beyond excellent job at teaching me and the internet to play dead! Keep it up, love the series!
Hey Davvy, love Davvy 3.o, but why so hard on the old Davvy and the original "ship of fools" lesson. I love that one, and I'm sorry to say, despite all the cool awesome new graphics I'm gonna stick with the original. Love ya
"Play in B mixo" doesn't make much sense, your solo sounds in key though...I usually just start in Bb penatonic and feel my way around but it's a tricky progression.
@@TobyDavvy it certainly got some people worked up ... was that the purpose? to create a flag that offended everyone... I can hear it ... but in that case we missed a few
Hmm. I guess if you have to explain it.....either way great vids. Request from me is more JGB. How Sweet it Is (that opening lick) or Let it Rock (22 min one worth spinning 11/8/76). Loved Shining Star btw.
I appreciate you and you are a gifted teacher, but I have to throw a penalty flag on your supposition that these "strange" chord changes are purely drug induced. From the perspective of someone who understands ther rudiments music theory (as I'm sure you will agree) these changes are inventive, but not "out of the sphere". They fit, and they obviously make sense. This progression has to be defined as new, and unique. It's definitely weird, but by definition the obviously found some new ground. That said, your brilliant interpretive breakdown is spot-on and super helpful. Thanks for the good work ! Keep on keepin on. You are obviously talented and doing great work. Much appreciated !

This is a-mazing... Thanks for breaking this down for us and congrats on hitting so many subscribers - well deserved !
Really appreciate this, Scott. Thank you
Davvy, you have a gift for teaching. Keep it real. Navy Davy (of the Rusty Anchors) ....
Your tutorials are awesome. A few times you said minor 7 but the chord on the screen said minor.
great lesson! you should do a lesson on Rosalie McFall sometimes not sure if the dead ever played it electric though
I’ll be doing an entire acoustic series soon
Thanks Davvy! Ive made so much progress in the past few months because of you and these lessons! You the man! How about a lovelight or china cat lesson in the next few weeks? Preesh !!!
Great suggestions! Thanks for being here, Jack!
Davvy can you do one more saturday night tmrw!! They aren't any good tutorials on youtube and it seems really fun to play. Thanks
YAY! Thank you! LOVE IT!!!
You got it, homie! You’re the one that suggested I redo this one
@@TobyDavvy Hell yeah, just played it though. Excellent. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work on Play Dead!
Davvy, what is chord between Eflat and Gminor (@ 12:36-12:37)? Looks like you snuck one in there
Love the page! Do y’all have a lesson for Wharf Rat anywhere? I can’t find it.
No wharf rat yet, but maybe next week?…..you never know

Can you please repost your original lesson? This lesson is great but I bet the original sounds like a real gem!
sometimes I feel like davvy knows my rukind search history and also knows which ones I struggle with than makes a video on that one.

Omg. You make me laugh. Thanks! Plus I.learn a lot
Any way you can explain the theory behind the chord changes? I’d love to figure out the mindset they had when writing it.
Haha. Nah. How would I know the mindset they were in when they wrote it?
@@TobyDavvy i think what hes asking is why the chord choices and how the chords serve the progression

Just when i think you couldnt screw up anymore ....

I more than likely just misspoke. I probably meant to say Bb.
Video starts @2:40
I like to sing this song “shit in pools”
The scale is in Bb mixolydian? That sounds weird.
Davvy - you know I love you brother but what's up with the flag at the 4 second mark?
Lmao. That would be the winner of the worlds most offensive flag. I’m assuming it worked?
@@TobyDavvy it certainly got some people worked up ... was that the purpose? to create a flag that offended everyone... I can hear it ... but in that case we missed a few
I mean, I didn’t make the flag. The point was to show a flag you shouldn’t raise.
@@TobyDavvy Got you ... that makes sense ....
Love your vids. Didn’t quite get the swastika on the flag??
