They only found out like seconds before the show started to be fair
Er because it WAS good news 😏

Those few people that gasped when they heard I’m guessing the first time, that the queen had died. Were have they been living under a rock or in a whole in the ground.
Not everyone making the same joke in all caps 🤣🤣🤣
“GOOD NEWS, SHE’S DEAD!!”
Bro 💀
Ding dong the witch is dead...
“DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!”
💀💀💀
I find it very very weird that shows were not cancelled that night. Had I been there, i would have left. And I'm not even British.
I honestly stopped everything i was doing when i heard the news.
I think it was specifically the Queen's request that all shows would continue as scheduled
And that would be your choice, and I respect that.
But that is not the choice that everyone would make, and those tickets are not cheap. Also, I honestly think that on the other side, Elizabeth got a good chuckle out of the announcement, and the line in the show that immediately follows.
The Queen loved these shows tho apparently. I obviously definitely beleive that her death be treated with respect, but canceling makes no sense. A minute silence, then carrying on with the show is fine.
One overture later:
*GOOD NEEEEWSSS!*
*SHE'S DEAAAAAAD~!*
And you know what? I guessing that the Queen would have gotten a good chuckle out of that.
"All football and other traditionally working class activities will be cancelled as a mark of respect but theatre, opera, ballet etc will continue as normal as a mark of respect..."
It was the FA who CHOSE to suspend football. There was NO obligation to
Nobody made anybody cancel anything. That was a decision made by the Football Association. Smh...always trying to create victims.
The BBC Proms cancelled their performance that night and that's not exactly considered "working class"
@@Jack-sf9zo King Charles iii is here
Working class activities? 😂because the working class can't be into theatre ofc. 🙄
I feel like the only group in the UK that actually cared about the queen dying was old people 😂
Well we were in the line to see the coffin and I can assure you probably 90% were young to middle aged.
Isn’t the Witch of the West supposed to die at the end of the show, not at the start?
"No One Mourns The Wicked" is set after Elphaba has been melted. The "death" at the end of the show bookends the play/musical.
Wouldnt they not need 70 min silence since she was on the throne for 70 years
no one mourns the Wicked
And what did she do it you specifically?
Oof
Liz had a bit of a cheeky sense of humour. I bet she'd have chuckled at the idea of the first line after that somber message being "GOOD NEWS SHE'S DEAD"
This is the same woman who chuckled after saying the crown would snap her neck if she didn't lift a card to read it.
Clap, you fools! Clap!
Was it really necessary to announce it at the start of a musical. It's not an emergency for god's sake
I expected a shocked gasp from the audience but instead I got “GOOD NEWS, SHE’S DEAD”, wow these people
NS ED
Ding dong the witch is dead
No “God Save the King” sang? Sad.
Instead, “Good news!!!! She’s DEAAAAAAAD!!” 🤣😭
it would have been at the fucking end with the minutes silence if you where listening. most shows did their minute during the curtain call. they couldnt have done it at the start and then follow it with the intro to this musical.
@@ThePurpleCheesecakeZebra lmao that's disappointing
*GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE*
I couldn't understand anything the limey said.
Omfg I went there with my school
What terrible announcing...he couldn't even get the words out properly. As to whether the royal family feel uplifted by the thought that the cast of Wicked send their condolences I have to say I would be astonished if they even considered it. The late Queen had no interest in the theatre whatsoever. This is just pompous self importance.
Rubbish. The Queen was actually a great fan of the theatre, in fact Prince Charles said in an interview that one of his happiest childhood memories was going with his mother, or sometimes his grandmother, to West End productions and variety shows. The Queen's favourite musical was Oklahoma, and Philip used to play the number "People Will Say We're In Love" for her when they were first married. Were she still alive, Queen Elizabeth would have also graciously accepted the condolences of the cast; that's the sort of lady she was.
