What a treasure. I often enjoyed Declan's incomparable playing, singing, and humour in the folk clubs of the 70s and 80s. I rank him among the finest folk musicians I have heard anywhere. What a shame he was taken far too soon.
I agree with Ash, it's very surprising to me that he's not that well know today despite his long term impact on Australian folk. I wish I had the chance to see him in person but he's from a different time to me. I've had a bit of a crazy year with injuries and sickness but I got his Rake and A Rambling Man album a little while back. I have plans when things calm down a bit to upload that so we've got all of his official releases here for younger generations like myself and those who were there with him can keep his legacy alive
