The ending is heavily cute. I loved how deep cut brought in the original fire and grass theme Splatfest bosses. Then the new captain revealed that she is team electric. The new ninth generation electric gym leader design is cute on new captain three.
This is a callback to the Splatoon 1 Pokémon Red Vs. Green & Blue Splatfest, where Callie represented Red (Charizard) and Marie represented the other two games (Venusaur & Blastoise), so it would make more sense for Big Man to team up with Shiver and Marie, as the Captain is the player character from the first game, and he/she would choose whatever team the player chose.
