I hope Nathan understands how important he is to me. In a very genuine way, his mellow speech talking about how he struggles through art funks is so inspiring. I struggle a lot with motivating myself to do art even when it's something I love doing, and I'm very anxious as a personal naturally so I doubt myself and then get frustrated that none of it works to the point where I just stop. But Nathan chilling though this speed draw and getting to see him work through that funk is just truly inspiring. Not just because someone who is so skilled also goes through it, but that he talks about in as a natural way of the process. Even if it's unfortunately natural. I can't explain it much more than that. But thank you, Nathan, for being such an inspiration and for showing off your work even when it's not your favorite. And for not giving up on your work either. Many blessings, brother. As always, you bodied this.
Nathan: I was having a bad art time **immediately busts out a perfect muscular form out of nowhere** It's all soooo well done. Good Job! Also he has a beautiful laugh.
Every time Nathan tackles the Jojo style, he FUCKING CRUSHES IT. Seriously, Nathan, you wholesome king, please understand how amazing of an artist you are. This speed draw is a TRIUMPHANT success. Fuck the deadlines. You killed this and I love you. 🔥
Combining my two favorite multi-installment stories detailing the various adventures of generations and incarnations of the same families battling the same guy over and over again 😂

bro when they flashed up Nathan's old Jojo mashup next this one I was stunned. Nathan has improved so much in these past years and he should recognize that. Great piece Nathan!
nathan's struggles were *very* relatable because the entire time i was listening to this episode i was trying to draw one single hand.... also, the piece is wonderful and nathan does indeed have a wonderful laugh :)

Nathan's first "final drawing" was really good, but his final "final drawing" was seeing his growth as an artist in real time. Incredible! Stick with it Nathan! You're art is incredible and I believe you'll get through this art block!
As someone who has also been in an art funk the past couple months, I really connect with Nathan's struggles. Nothing feels right and it makes it all the harder to create something you want to put the effort into. Nathan makes me feel hopeful, like this dread for the things I love isn't forever. I don't know how to begin to describe how much it means to me.
Nathan DOES have a beautiful laugh, tho! And his art is wonderful; I've been watching Drawfee since the OG Caldwell and Nathan days, and how far Nathan's come since then will always be impressive to me. To have one's progression as an artist be so thoroughly catalogued and so thoroughly public is a wild, intense situation that so few artists share, and to be able to rise that challenge and show real growth is a feat. Nathan is an inspiration. 💛
Same as always, I must remark that Nathan is the most accomplished chameleon of the team. When he does a style tribute, it almost always looks like it could be the artist he's copying.
This starts out seriously impressive, becomes relatable in a way that's reassuring while still showing skill, and then those last details kick in and genuinely stagger me a little. I know it sucked to go through but the process made the speed draw kind of an emotional journey. And something that niche and odd becoming a narrative that's more compelling than it has any right to be is kind of what I like most about Jojo, too, so, like... 12/10, man. Not to mention it was cool enough to distract me from the rad gay truck intro for the space of two paragraphs, which is impressive all on its own. Edit: Hearing the bit after the render, I get physically nauseous looking at my own writing and occasional sketch sometimes, even when it's work I'm objectively glad to have caused to exist where it wouldn't have before, so nothing you make looking good to you is defo relatable
There's something about the way Nathan sketches in poses that I love. I don't even know how to describe it. Edit: I know he was struggling, but the way he iterates on them piece by piece is just so smart.
I gotta say, as a fellow artist, one of the things I love about y'all is how honest you are about your artistic processes. Came for the art, stayed for the bits, but still here because y'all are just so wonderful.
Legally obligated to praise Nathan's progress. You're doing amazing, buddy!! Seeing your progress from the early days is just mind blowing. You can't fathom how freaking inspiring it is to have seen the art progress in real time.
Oh, I feel that whole conversation about an artist being their own worst critic. I used to draw a lot in middle school and high school, to the point that my parents were surprised when I DIDN'T go for an art degree in college, (it was always just a hobby for me, and I while I was good compared to my family, I was no where NEAR as good as so many others) and the better I got, the more mistakes in my own art I'd notice. It's sort of a double-edged sword: being able to notice those mistakes means you know what to practice and improve on to make better art, helping you grow, but it also gives you a bit of imposter syndrome sometimes where people tell you how amazing your art is, but you just keep seeing all the mistakes. It's important to just step back sometimes and remind yourself of what you did well, too.
As somebody that binged the Jojo manga during the pandemic and now is obsessed looking back on all of Nathan’s art is such a treat. Nathan’s jojosona was one of my drawings he did and this was beautiful too!
Hearing y'all talk about art struggle really spoke to me. I've been in a writing funk for a bit, so hearing other people talk about the struggle is comforting. The opening pride merch ad was amazing! And Nathan's art looks incredible.
Nathan, if you ever see this, I'm not kidding: I love love love these speed draws that go "badly". Also the thing about Julia's "curse" of covering up the thing you worked on--but you *didn't*. It's all in the video. The final picture is built of all these bits in the middle, and we actually get to see them, in a way we wouldn't for something that didn't go through so many iterations. I wouldn't wish an art funk on anybody, but it's so amazing to see how it evolves, these are the *best*.
That Ganandorf that you chucked together in mere seconds is abso-fucking-lutly amazing. Honeslty one of my favourite pieces I've seen on this channel, and I'm not even that big a Zelda or Jojos fan.
Nathan: "I'm having a bad art period" *busts out the best looking Ganondorf I've ever seen in my life.* My experience with artists is that their bad art periods are rarely as bad as they think. There are just times in your art journey where your art knowledge and critical eye surpasses your artistic ability (and vice versa). You might feel like your art is worse, but it probably isn't, you've just grown a more discerning eye; it's a good thing. These are the periods when your art will grow and you will become an even better artist. I know it's not something that will make you happy but artists in that rocky period, don't give up! Once you know what is bothering you and why, fixing it will improve your skills and will drive that next step to being a great artist. And trust me, most people aren't seeing the flaws you see, so don't beat yourselves up over it too much.
New viewer here! I saw the thumbnail, and thought to myself "Is that Ganondorf... but Dio?" and then I read the title. Fabulous work! It combines two of my favourite pieces of media beautifully.
Nathan’s art just keeps getting better and better and better and I just… how?!? He was so good to begin with! It gives me hope that I can get through all of my bad art days. Thank you Nathan!
I'm a truck driver, and since I've started my latest job, I've had to do a few youtube searches for little repairs on the road... so I sometimes get trucking videos recommended to me. I genuinely thought I clicked on the wrong video with the intro, I didn't even recognize Jacob's voice.
You can’t force art to happen, it takes time to get to a place where you feel good about shit. Always a blessing to see y’all’s art progress! Beautiful work Nathan
I am so blown away by how perfect an intersection this is between the two stories! The characters are so recognizably JoJo AND Zelda at the same time. It’s perfect ❤
I love how this turned out!! It would have been good enough to meet the one week late deadline, but I'm glad Nathan got to take more time to make changes and make it even better. And as someone who also struggles with time management/procrastination/creative block, I relate so much and appreciate seeing a really cool result emerge at the end of a difficult process.
I love it when Nathan has art funk. It's usually when he experiments and just doesn't care. And those are the pieces that always elevate him to the next level. One of my faves was the one where he didn't do line work and only used green? I believe it was a lizard or something. The way he used color and shapes, wow! 👌 I had to screenshot the first "done" piece and compare to the final piece. Ir was giving me "How my coloring book piece ends up vs coloring book cover". Miles different and just gorgeous! Way to go, Nathan! I need everyone's experimental art piece that they also redraws 50 times and finish only to go back and re-do. 😂
Damn Nathan absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one. What an incredible piece!! I love watching his speed draws because usually Julia and Karina do the more detailed technical drawings and jacob and nathan do the more stylized silly drawings; but in speed draws they are able to show off their own individual skills. Its such a treat and Im always so delighted to see their talent shine
Yesss! More solo artist speedpaints! Nathan knocked it out of the park ofc. Being in an art slump is such a mood though. I'm in one myself, and it's so hard not to compare myself to this ideal that I wish I could meet. I just have gotta take solace that it's a thing everyone goes through, and I will come out of it better than ever.
I love it when y'all do little passion projects they always turn out so amazing! It's also infinitely harder when it's something you're excited about so mad props to Nathan for taking it somewhere that looks AMAZING. My favorites are the jojo ones ❤
It was amazing to see Julia, Jacob and Karina's art journey through this. Can we all just appreciate that? Also Nathan! I totally find the art block and struggle real to me too, you whipped up a banger art piece my man! Thank you Drawfee for the wonderful content, you all brighten my day whenever I see a new video dropped!
I can totally get the struggle Nathan is talking about, where you can't help but fixate on what is not perfect rather than revel in what is. He doesn't need to be told he rocks, but... Nathan, you rock!
Dear Nathan, genuinely and legitimately thank you for sharing your frustrations. As someone who finishes a piece then goes back several times, it’s so satisfying to hear others do it too. If I may, one thing that helps me is to save a version on my phone and look at it a few times before I’m properly done and share it.
The level of attraction I have for those back muscles on Ganon is insane, this piece is STUNNING. Good job, Nathan! It's been so fun watching him grow as an artist like this.

Nathan you SMASHED IT! The extra time was extra worth it cuz DANG!! Good work getting through the art block (regardless of it it's still there or not)
New viewer here! I saw the thumbnail, and thought to myself "Is that Ganondorf... but Dio?" and then I read the title. Fabulous work! It combines two of my favourite pieces of media beautifully.
Nathan's speed draws are so satisfying and tasty to look at
Can we all just appreciate how talented Jacob is in this episode. I mean... whoa. Totally floored.
I'm so glad you guys are authentic about your art processes. Warms my heart that I'm not alone with art block.
I love reading all of these compliments to Nathan. He deserves EVERY DAMN ONE OF EM
This is clean as heck Nathan, you deserve every compliment ❤
You can’t force art to happen, it takes time to get to a place where you feel good about shit. Always a blessing to see y’all’s art progress! Beautiful work Nathan
I love how the thumbnail seems even more spicy because the time obscures a tiny part of it
"i would put that in my mou**
@@inawoodenhouse oh, it says "m 21:34" for me, so I didn't even have a guess
@@MadCheshireHat Yeah, I can't even read the m on my setup, so
I am so blown away by how perfect an intersection this is between the two stories! The characters are so recognizably JoJo AND Zelda at the same time. It’s perfect ❤
I wanna know how many takes that Trans Rigs read was. Was very well done.
Honestly ? Nathan is the most attraktive Drafee host to me. He has such a ... Aura of kindness around him and he is funny. Thats so cute !
He's the "human capybara".
I find it interesting that you misspelled "Drawfee".
@@Pablo360able i forget to read over my comments pretty often. Its not that interesting or unusual for me.
We're getting so close to the Drawfee × Critical Role crossover we all want.
this!!!
Is that in the works??
@@natorousab not that I know of. But wouldn't it be wonderful?

I can never overstate how much I love and appreciate Nathan and his art 💕
I know you know already, but Nathan has become SOOOOO GOOD.
GOOD JOB NATHAN THIS LOOKS SO RAD !!!!
This episode rules. Thanks for being so open about the art struggle process❤
This has been one of my favorite pieces of the show. Great job Nathan!
Nathan really popped off this episode. He is such an amazing artist and seeing him improve is so cool
I love it when y'all do little passion projects they always turn out so amazing! It's also infinitely harder when it's something you're excited about so mad props to Nathan for taking it somewhere that looks AMAZING. My favorites are the jojo ones ❤
Yes, yes, yes, yes, another Zelda and Jojo Episode!
Promoting pride merch with a southern accent and trucker themes is very camp. love that
I can totally get the struggle Nathan is talking about, where you can't help but fixate on what is not perfect rather than revel in what is.
He doesn't need to be told he rocks, but... Nathan, you rock!
"Trying to make these poses make sense." Nathan. It's JBA. The poses aren't supposed to make sense.
This looks great Nathan! I love the colors and poses for the characters.
Hearing you talking about art block while I am struggling with writers block is both comforting and inspiring. The best of art. Thank you.
More trucker talk jacob please
This was absolutely gorgeous, definitely worth the added time (and I love the little changes made post-recording!!)
The Jolyne-Zelda looks INSANELY good
so glad this was the only piece this episode cuz it deserves a whole episode to itself!! (genuinely)
Nathan, I'm sorry you're going through the art struggle bus, but also this piece freakin slaps
The level of attraction I have for those back muscles on Ganon is insane, this piece is STUNNING. Good job, Nathan! It's been so fun watching him grow as an artist like this.
