Dude is so nice and humble. When I was a super kook and barely learning he let me borrow a freakin Takiyama 9'4 to understand how a longboard was gonna help me learn. He lent a freaking stupid kook a Takiyama to go to a crowded crap spot, at fairly low tide times no less. I mean I was barely catching face at that point.
I can't believe how nice the guy is. He helped me to really love surfing and motivate me to stay with something as beautiful as this. I think if he senses how serious you are about it he'll go to a lot of trouble to help you out. What businessman would ever do that?

Bird is one of the most "soul" human beings on the planet. He let us groms hang out in his surf shop in the 80's... and we still look up to him today. I can only hope for as many "birds" in the water as possible... a true soul surfer!
