hi rich it was good to bump into you last weekend with my brother, as he is into lrf he was slightly star struck when we bumped into you as he watches all your videos. the last time i saw him like that was when we gave him tickets for is favourite pop star sir cliff richard, so thanks for the nice chat and tight lines. p.s hes catching you up
Hi mate, was great talking to you all Its always humbling to hear that people actually watch my videos and even more so that they actually like them. Its brilliant to see so many anglers getting involved in lrf, long may it continue. Tight lines 🙂🎣
That’s some very impressive lerfing , what a joy to watch. Your knowledge of different species is also impressive and watching this video has helped me identify two new species I caught last year, a sand smelt and sand goby. Thank you.
That's a awesome tally you had and I thought I did well, but yours are all on lures, impressive, also impressed with the amount you had out as well, superb. Good luck for this year hope you can improve on the 51.
Thanks mate, it was an interesting year fishing wise! Well done on your haul too, you had a few that I'd love to catch on the lures! Tight lines for 2022 mate 👍🎣
Yeeees. Love your videos. Keep meaning to to more mini species lure stuff. Certainly have all the gear as I use UL stuff in canals by me as I’m the bailiff for LACC 👍🏻
Thanks mate, hope you enjoy this one! You should totally try and pick off some of the mini species mate, its amazing what will take a lure if given a chance 🙂🎣
You alright there . Glad i found your channel . Ive never done LRF but have got into BFS fishing and now just started Super Ultra Light fishing . I fish my local rivers and canals in London . Catching a 7lb pike on 2lb ester line and a 2lb fluorocarbon leader is an epic experience . Not that that was my intended target . Im happier catching lots of smaller fish on light tackle than i am spending the whole day trying to catch bigger fish that are few and far between locally for me . Im looking at my next rod purchase to be in the 0.3 to 3g range . Maybe even 0.3 to 2.5g . Im looking to cast 0.5g jig heads + 1" soft plastics . About 0.7 - 1.1g in total weight . Ive been looking at the Major Craft fine tail 6'0" super ultra light or the banshee version in the same size and ratings . Ive also been looking at the Abu Garcia nano thats rated upto 2.5g . These are all trout area rods . I own Major Craft Finetail area trout and Finetail Banshee area trout models . Rated upto 4g max casting weight . They are great rods for the money . All very sensitive and very fast actioned . The Aji do 5g looks like a cracking rod . Watching your videos , Im tempted to buy the Aji do 5g now . Im thinking the 6'2" or the 6'8" 0.2 to 3g casting rated model . Can i ask , how to you rate the sensitivity of the rod ? How far do you think the Aji do 5g could cast a 0.5g jig head with 1" plastic (0.7 - 1.1g in total weight ) ? Do you think it would be a good Super Ultra Light rod for small perch , roach and anything small that will bite in UK rivers , streams and canals ? Apologies for the long comment . Ive got a Daiwa Gekkabijin LRF rod rated from 0.5 to 5g . Im gonna give LRF fishing a go after watching all your videos . I hope you reply with regards to the Major Craft Aji do 5g rods mate . I look forward to your next video . Tight lines .
Hi mate, I can thoroughly recommend the new Major Craft Aji-do rods, they are superb. I think everyone I know that has one has commented on how they are completely different to any other rod they've used. I only have experience of fishing with the 5 foot 3g rated version but can confirm it is incredibly sensitive, casts even the lightest jigheads well and has backbone that just shouldn't be possible on such a light and delicate rod. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you got one 👍🎣
@@DevonLerfer Cheers for getting back to me mate . You ve convinced me . Aji do 5g it is . Plus i can use it for LRF fishing when i try it too . Can i ask , What made you go for the 5ft version over the 6fters ?
No worries mate. Yeah i use mine for ul on the canal as well as lrf, its made the majority of my rods redundant as its such a good tool for so many jobs. I liked the idea of a super short, super light rod, its great for rockpools and fishing around the holes and gaps in the rocks and boulders, which I really love. The only real limitation the 5 foot rod has is if I'm fishing over ledges and drop offs, or where there are lots of reeds on the canal, you don't have much reach to get over them if you know what I mean? I'm very happy with my choice though 🙂
@@DevonLerfer Excellent . Cheers Mate . Im looking at the 6ft 2inch or the 6ft 8inch models . Any idea if thethe extra length would make the rods behave differently with regards to the sensitivity , the taper and back bone of the rods . I know they are all extra fast action and obviously you get more casting distance in the longer models and the shorter models are more accurate . Apologies for all the questions . I got both models currently sitting in my basket and cant decide which one to remove and which one to purchase . You gotta laugh . I hope to here your opinion . Tight lines .
Haha thats a good question, I think you've got to look at that from a personal preference point of view really. Do you want the extra length for perhaps a bit more casting distance and reach or the slightly shorter on for perhaps a slightly sharper feel? I don't think there will be much in it to be honest
Thanks mate, that's a very good question! Probably the cuckoo wrasse as I'd wanted to catch one for a long time and the timing and location was perfect. The zander and flounder are close runners up though 🙂

Thanks Alan, it was a great species hunting year! Tight lines for 2022 👍🎣
Great returns for a year's lerfing mate. Very few people could hit 51 species without bait.
Thanks mate, it was a good year where I picked off a few flukey ones. I knew if I didn't do it last year I'd never do it! 🙂🎣
Amazing haul mate
Thanks mate, was a good year 🙂🎣
Epic! Can’t fish at the moment so this is my medicine thanks buddy
Thanks mate, appreciate it! Hope you can get out soon! 👍🎣
