Great band. This is their signature song. I watched many reactions and I loved all of them. I find it strange how many people call them old. They are about 5 years younger than Metallica and not too many people call them old. Anyway here's a link to a live version if you want ruclips.net/video/MMfTUasxuyA/видео.html
(You are saying "ninjen isu" not "ningen isu" - hard 'g' in Ningen like in "get") I knew we'd get ya :) They are a very deep well of excellent music.. they only have 23 albums so far and they are _all_ very consistently good. Looking forward to further reactions to Ningen Isu! They do play this song live, and it's very well executed - I was lucky enough to see them play London in February 2020. On their first mini tour outside of Japan. They had been planning to play SXSW in the US a few months after, but covid put the kibosh on that. Guitar: Shinji Wajima - he's dressed as a meiji era literary master. I know you hate lyrics, but a lot of their songs have inspirations from classic literature and myths. The band name is taken from a short horror story by Edogawa Ranpo, literally meaning "human chair". He builds a lot of his own guitar pedals, too Bass: Kenichi Suzuki - dressed as a demonic monk. He also is the vocalist for a lot of songs Drums: Nobu Nakajima - dressed as a classic yakuza style teddy boy. Also sometimes does vocals on songs PS: been waiting for this song to hit the channel for 2 years, so glad you got there :D
For everyone here in English. 「Heartless Scat」 If you, Holy Angels, do exist in this universe, Will you bless me on the cheeks? With my painful effort never paid off. I've just been standing in the shadow, Will the day come someday when I can fly high in the sky? Will the day come when I can see the sun? Tell me, Holy Angels. Shabadabadia Shabadabadia Babababa Shabadabadia Shabadabadia Babababa If you, Divine Goddess, are staying hidden somewhere, Why don't you smile at me on my forehead? I've never tasted the nectar of victory. I’ve never succeeded in love. Will the day come when I can get intoxicated by the victory? Will the day come when I can embrace love? Tell me, Divine Goddess. Shabadabadia Shabadabadia Babababa Shabadabadia Shabadabadia Babababa Countless stars are twinkling in the sky. Every one of us is under them, with a thousand wishes in each heart. Lululu Lululu… If you, Lord Buddha, really exist in some place, Please have mercy on me, too. Having nothing precious in my possession, Desolated, Isolated, I've been living my life with a series of failures. Will the day come when I can totally be satisfied? Will the day come when my dreams come true? Tell me, Lord Buddha. Shabadabadia Shabadabadia Babababa Shabadabadia Shabadabadia Babababa Shine a light on my life Shine a light on my future Shine a light on every creature Shine a light on tomorrow for all
Thanks for introducing me to yet another excellent band. I've just ordered their '30th Anniversary Best' compilation and am looking forward to hearing it.
This is indeed a cornerstone song and it is the song that made them "explode" in the west. They've been playing since 87 and are still going strong. The song lyrics can actually be compared or work as a metaphor to their journey as musicians.
If You had the English subtitle on You got the message. It is a sort of prayer for success. This video got viral globally 2019. And that made them going overseas for their first time in early 2020. 2 gigs in Germany and 1 in London UK, heading for USA....and then Covid came along so they had to go home to Japan. Guitarist is born 1965, Bassplayer 1966 ( I think). Drummer a couple years younger. Old men can still do great tunes *-) I love this band! After over 30 years of playing in the same band, they know their craft!
This was basically "Things DH doesn't like, but ALL of it done the way that DH actually DOES like, the song, the musical, the play, on Ice" and it was a treat to see you explaining everything.
As others have said, there are various live version on RUclips. Some that last longer. For me, it is one of those songs that seeing and hearing it live must be wonderful. Watching a live, longer version of Heartless Scat on a small screen, not so. Thank you for your analysis and explanations of chordal structure. Ningen Isu, are welcome to install my ceiling fan, anytime. 🤣 Who would of thought, another excellent Japanese band! 🤣😎
Ningen Isu another great band also making tracks that smack and bop hard. Glad they didn't retire and saw the love the international audience was giving them and they were like alright are music resonates with somebody lets keep going. Bass player is my favorite part about this band.
@@danbuter at what timestamp are you hearing this? "Ningen" is not said anywhere in the lyrics for this song. Sorry, but you are mistaken.. Japan doesn't have accents in the same way as in America. Japanese letter pronunciation is very consistent. The way regional accents are done is more with variations in words and phrasing, than how each letter is pronounced. Cheers ge = げ je = じぇ
Pronunciation : "Nin" as read "gen" with a hard G "isu" (eesue). Meaning : "Human Chair" also the name of an old Japanese horror film from the 30s. "Heartless Scat" yeah, both. Yes saw them live. Almost as perfect as the video but without the multi-tracks of course. I also like "Toshishun" & "At the Mountains of Madness".
Waving to Manda and Baragon 👋 You mentioned scores of 1s and 2s… wondering now what your lowest score ever is. I’d like to watch that! Anyway, these guys are great… the lyrics of this song (which I know you don’t care about) are great too… just mentioning it. Edit: confession: I hit like at the beginning.
What, eleven days ago. I would have thought you'd have reacted to this one years ago David. These guys are the Sabath of Japan! There were English subs btw. Singing to the different religions about when will it be his time to shine.
I had a response to "Spoonman" but I might have used a wrong word and got taken down. Anyhow Mrs. H did a great job and she deserves all the applaud she's getting. She has never been that confidence before. I had a lt more and I forget. Congrats for 40K.
They're dressed as a monk, a yakuza member and a 19th century teacher. Check out their lyrics - always deepAF, using many Japanese philosophical points.
Listen to this song with subtitles and you'll see the lyrics are a bit philosophical. Seriously, if there never was Philosophy Metal before, this is.

Great to see you coming back to Ningen Isu! Color of space is another fav worth looking at.
Was wondering if you were ever going to get to this.....Rock on!!!

I was going to mention the very same thing about the subtitles.
Great band to chill and enjoy. I wish I had discovered it sooner than three weeks ago
The schedule was to play at SXSW in 2020. ASTERISM was at SXSW the previous year, Hal-ca was 16 at that time.
This was basically "Things DH doesn't like, but ALL of it done the way that DH actually DOES like, the song, the musical, the play, on Ice" and it was a treat to see you explaining everything.
Was waiting for this one
They are an incredible band. Many of their lyrics speaks about Buddist philosophy, in this one about overcoming through insistence after defeat.
Amazing song and band, thanks for your reaction 🤘🤗
I'm glad you liked the song, my friend. I leave you a huge hug from Chile
Japanese Black Sabbath. 👍🎶🎸💥
It's a great song, if a little long. I wish I could play like that.

Love your reaction. I know nothing about music but love your technical breakdown. Metal knows no language
Oh! The g sound in Ningen is the same you use in Get. 👍
The lead singer actually pronounced it ninjen during the song. Maybe it's an accent thing (like how Southerners talk different from New Yorkers).

This band is fucking amazing.
Oh, I so like you playing this! It's just awesome.
Kinda feeling Melvins riffs listening to this track. Deeecent 🤘 💥 🔥

I believe the lowest score was for the first reaction I did for Daughters.
@@THEDavidHeretic Just watched it… that was something else. 😱

Love this intro

Is "BLACK SABBATH"!👍
I just go with Granpa as lead and vocals, Uncle Fester on Bass and Elvis on drums.
They're dressed as a monk, a yakuza member and a 19th century teacher. Check out their lyrics - always deepAF, using many Japanese philosophical points.
Japanese Black Sabbath.....
the verse riff is very melvins to me
Ningen Isu = Retired professor + Zumbi monk + Elvis is not dead = 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Try the caterpillar. It sounds really retro and you will want the to know what they are saying, its a whole package.
good ;)
If you're looking for an instrumental metal band to react to, I suggest the band - King Weed
live hari no yama
23 albums... for now.
Next one out in September :D
Grandpa's guitars.
だからニンジンイスじゃねぇってよ!
そしてお前はプログレを知らんのだろなぁ、かわいそうに
