I had an old Dell laptop that I hadn't used for about 2 years and it was still running on windows 7 Home Premium. Resetting the "Page File" as suggested did make it go faster as compared to when I have done this upgrade for a couple other computers. Thank you for your video.

Good video, this worked! Ran into a problem in not being able to disable the windows defender as it was greyed out but skipping this step didn't affect me at all.
5/14/18 First off, I thought your videos was excellent and I felt that I was being guided through the process by a British intelligence officer. I followed all your instructions with military precision, and was able to download a 64 bit W10 image onto an empty 32GB usb FD from my PC using Rufus. Then I inserted the FD into a Samsung laptop with W7. The laptop is 64 bit with 8 gig ram dual core 1.6 GHz, and is W10 upgradable. No problem with starting the W10 download except after 2 hours, I came back and it was only 8% downloaded. Thinking it needed a second try to grasp the enormity of the task, I aborted and restarted the effort. Then, after the entire night, it was only 18 % complete. Plz excude my acronym, but WTF? After trying 3 other methods from YT, I had so much confidence in this one. Puffff! Oh, you can download, install, and run Windows 10 without buying a key to Activate it just fine. Microsoft won't limit functionality, either (well, not very much anyway). You can even run it for free for as loooooooooong as you want. It will, however, nag you to Activate it.
@@marvinewell1101 Yes, but you have to start with an activated Windows 7 or 8 running your computer. This is an upgrade to an already legally running Windows, not a hack, and if your 7 or 8 isn't activated to start, this 10 will install but it will not be activated, and you'll have three days to provide a legal activation key or it turns into a rotten pumpkin.

My only question is this, Is this alternative safe without losing data and affecting the functioning of the OS to be replaced just in case the upgrading fails?
Its as safe as much as Microsoft can make it. But you are trying to upgrade to operating system, so do a backup first. Noah built the arc before the rain !!
Partition the hard drive 3x's, even 4x's, the 4th for data storage. You can install a triple OS boot: XP, 7, and 10, each OS on its own partition. You need to start with XP, then install 7, lastly install 10. Start with your oldest Windows, then build the newer OS.

The Upgrade still works (Sep. 22, 2019) as stated in the video (excellent tutorial).
