    I really like this, kind of a breath of fresh air. Not every knife to me has to be a flipper. Thanks for the review seams like a great gentleman’s knife.

    Here we are, years down the road. I’ve owned this knife since it came out and as a fusion of traditional nail nick operation and modern roller bearing design it remains unique. The overall fabrication quality is very, very high. The steel (a specialty of Ruike it seeks) is everything one could want in a pocket folder…performing far above its cost. It’s sleek and slim in the pocket. My one suggestion would be to double the length of the nail nick which would improve the ease of initiating opening. Yeah, this would make a great flipper but then it would lose its unique character and be just another of the billion or so flippers out there.

    I hate the nail nick, this knife would be best with a low profile front flipper

    Funny about the timing. I just uploaded my review of the same but it won't go live for another 12 hours or so.
    Great knife indeed.

    That one probably is my favorite of the year so far, I really don't mind the nail knick at all, would be cool if they could fit in a sharpening choil.

    Ah, so it _was_ a Ruike! It looked like a fuller, not a nail nick to me in your IG photo. This is _very_ cool looking knife. Weirdly, I'm left handed - but cross dominant, so I'd _still_ be opening it with my left hand and switching - perhaps a result of 50 some odd years of muscle memory opening right handed slippies? Yes, I'd _love_ to see them do something similar with a thumb stud and keep a similar profile. I'll let you know about 2018 best of's after Blade. Reate, WE, Spyderco all have some biggies (mostly collaborations) coming out. Very exciting for production knives.

    It looks like a nice non threatening carry knife. Looks great with the blue accents. I would take a flipper but it will work as is. Thanks for the look.

    I agree with this review 100%. Mine is next week and pretty similar. Kind of an oddball but I'm glad it exists!

      Do you think those aftermarket thumb stud or thumb bars that screw on would work with this? Like is there enough clearance in the cut out for those to be useful (I don't mind the opening but it might be a quick fix for others).

      There isn't much room to attach it so I'm not sure it would work

    Hate to beat a dead horse, but... This knife is exactly what I'm looking for and would be in my pocket IF it was a flipper. Great looks, great form factor and size. A simple flipper tab would make it just about perfect for my EDC needs. As is, Meh... Pity...

    it is fairly easy to make a hand rubbed satin finish with a 1000-ish grit sandpaper. ypu could try to do a horizontal satin on the bevel portion of the blade and leave the bead blast on the sides. did that to one of my 14c28n kershaws and it turned out gorgeous.

    I'm still most interested in the spyderco Caribbean in lc200n steel. I really like this knife, I've become very fond of folders without finger guards, the grips are more comfortable and you can use the whole edge on a flat surface, I've never once in 30+ years of knife use slipped up on a blade (like the mora #1, cold steel holdout, my replica seax, among others)

    Great lines, a beautiful looking knife. I agree about the nail nick but, any other opening method would detract from the sleekness of the design. I am debating on whether to get it or not.

    Shake it, shake it🤩 You can whip it open, so it's a one-hander after all👍👌💪

    Hey Kevin... If you review the Spyderco smock from their new mid-year release, as a fellow Canadian I would love to buy it off of you! That way, makes it easy, one less time crossing borders!

    I wonder what it would've looked like as a front flipper?

    It needs a really well done flipper like Sinkevich does on the am go and bio.

    I was raised on Spyderco knives which pioneered one handed opening, so I totally agree that the nail-nick style two handed opening stinks a little, but for me the biggest thing that caught my eye is the pure sleekness of the handle and blade both open and closed. A normal flipper tab or thumb stud would definitely ruin that. I could see a end-flipper fitting the design well reminiscent of something on a Smock knife, but I don’t think it needs it. As is this knife has some major sex appeal and I’m putting it in my cart as soon as I submit this comment. This knife is going to make the inside pocket of my suit coat its home.

    Hi Kevin Do you know whether Ruike knives will ever ship internationally? to the UK specifically.

    • @Kevinclearysharpstuff

      I'm fairly certain they would if you follow the link in the description you should be able to find shipping info also I would suspect there's a European distributor

    Will it gravity out , I'll only get it if it does, cuarto wins for the flipper,(but not the steel) maybe mould some JB weld into a flipper , just enough to get it started and gravity it out the rest of the way

    • @Kevinclearysharpstuff
      @Kevinclearysharpstuff  6 лет назад

      It's won't gravity out the detent is actually fairly stiff

    No mention of the mirror polished edge? And yes, it needs a flipper. Still really like it.

    That knife just screams out for a flipper tab. It almost looks like it was just cut off when they were processing the blade.

    While I agree that with it having nail nick opening, that is a strike against it, I would be able to overlook that if the scales came in colors. I am so sick of black.

    I wish this had a thumb stud

    • @Kevinclearysharpstuff
      @Kevinclearysharpstuff  6 лет назад

      Yeah thumb stud won't really work without a fairly significant change in the handle design but a different opening option would be nice
