I've had this knife for awhile now and love it for work. About the same size as a large pocket knife but with a more ergonomic grip, and the sheath design is fantastic. As a trucker I love the rotating belt clip assembly, I can adjust it so it's not jabbing the side of my leg. I think about the only thing they could improve is the actual clip that clips on the belt. The little C shaped hook on the end makes it a pain to get off my belt when I'm done working for the day.
Aaron , I own the Ruike P128 tactical folder. It’s a frame lock with a secondary lock for extra security. It’s made of 14c28n. If this fixed has the same 14c28n as my tactical folder, it’ll be outstanding! I beat the crap out of this knife and it’s held its own. I’ve thrown it at logs many times, pry things with it , picked locks with the tip and sliced everything from food to wood. It keeps its edge and it has no flaws on the blade. The metal frame is fairly heavy and throwing it puts alot of stress on the blade tip, but it still has no issues… the only thing I’ve done to this knife is tighten the pivot screw, because throwing it will slowly loosen it. I wanted a 14c28n fixed and I think you convinced me to purchase it!
Why so many great companies use mov steels instead of 14c28n is mind boggling to me. There are so many knives I'd buy in this great, inexpensive steel. My Ruike knives have been indestructible, easy to sharpen n have never had even the slightest bit of rust. 14c28n for the win. I don't even bother looking at any vids w over $200 fixed blades (ok don't care abt knives over $100 anymore, lol); I start stressing abt ruining that beautiful, expensive knife. I want a knife that I can concentrate on the cutting job, not on preserving my investment. oh n BTW, scandi is too limiting. Jmo , peace
14c28n is a great steel. But edge strength isnt the best compated to lets say 3v ... retention is good. Bradford guardian makes great fixed blades, especially for hard use. 3v, rex45, vanadis 4e...etc
Actually, if you follow Larrin Thomas, you would know that the toughness of 14c28n rivals CPM-3v. Sure, its edge retention is less, but the steel and the knives that use it are much less expensive. The steel is far better than 1095!
@@donrichter3523 that's what I'm saying. I Wish 14c28n (an exceptional budget steel) was used INSTEAD of the crappy mov steels. I love my 14c28n folders.
I bought the Ruike Hornet long ago and I love it!! I've had my eye on this knife for a long time. As a consumer, it's hard to ignore that. I don't like the belt loop attachments Ruike uses. I intend to make my own leather backers with a drop loop.
As a tip: if you are not satisfied with firmness of the knife's sitting in the sheath you can always replace the plastic spacer in the upper corner of the sheath with a rubber one and just tighten the screw.

Gerber same price looks like Morvakniv made it but no Scandinavian grind blade & crap steel too. Morakniv Garberg is $80 and $99 if you get a leather sheath. Been thinking of buying one of these, so looked for a review, saw you did one, and immediately skipped all others and clicked on your link. I really appreciate your in depth reviews, and the way you compare other options. I am a big fan of 14c28 steel for the sub $100 price range. It's a very good steel choice if you want a stainless without spending a ton of money for a super steel bladed knife. It holds an edge pretty well, better than 1095 in my experience, is easy to sharpen and takes a very nice edge. It also responds well to a strop, so easy to touch up and bring that fine edge back without having to hit the stones, as long as you don't let it go to dull. Thanks for the review..think I'm going to pull the trigger. I love a nice scandi grind for carving and bush craft tasks, but a saber or flat grind is better for an all around field knife, which is what I'm looking for. I already have enough scandi ground knives to last a lifetime or two, lol.

I had this knife a few days. It is awesome blade , very, very nice design. But it has got a very small handle for my hands :( Sheath on ruike was a little bit on flimsy or crappy side. So I bought lightly used Lionsteel M5 G10 version, for 80,- Eur and it is much better design of handle (or may be just bigger handle). And also I like much better the mole sheath on Lionsteel M5. Yes, not much of a competition for a belt knife in stainless, at 4 something inches and under $100. And surprisingly, two of the competitors are a Mora and a Gerber. Can a knife talk get more stereotypical? Let's see: The Chaman, Mustang, Yesca, Trapper, Bosque, Patrol and Coyote by Miguel Nieto. The MT1, MT-5, 148, 146, 228, 290 by Cudeman The CL, CC and CR Series, CM78, Campero, Trampero, Nordico, Canadiense, Ursus and Lynx by Joker The Rhino, Predator, Husky, Gavilan, Kodiak and Lakhota by Muela The Corsair, Fortuna and Flint by Kizlyar The Camp, Dayhike, Breacher, Golf Tango, Nightshade and Zebrawood by Boker Magnum The BF 132, 133, 005, 010 and BF710 by Black Fox How about Buck's 100 series? The Cold Steel Master Hunter? How about other Chinese makers like LW, Harnds, Bolte and Real Steel?
used and abused this knife and it breezed thru it like it's nothing. my only gripe is the sheath's belt clip. other than that, this is a solid little beast! The King of budget, EDC-sized fixed blade knife.
But the bullet on this Ruike Jager. Just a tad small on the grip but overall I'm super happy with the knife. It's one that's my off duty EDC knife carried cross draw 11 o'clock.
To each their own, but 14c28 is a very good stainless steel. It's not S35 or any super steel, but in this price range, it's excellent. It holds an edge pretty well, is easy to sharpen and maintain, and. responds to a strop very well.
I think I am doing something wrong but e.g. mora on moraknive se or amazon is close to 100 € (eur). This ruike I bought for around 80 $ (usd) - when did it ever cost just 50 $ ? Regardless of the current year (2021) I never saw mora garberg around 70 $ (usd) - it was always between 100 $ (usd) to 120 $ (multi-mount). For those prices I am certain that you bought used knives but again maybe regular amazon shoppers are good at price hunting.
In the US they did release at those prices. Maybe they are different prices because you are in a different country? My dad got the Jager for $65 and it is $79 today now. I've never seen a mora garberg that expensive, I can order one right now for less than $70
Not that it really matters much but I recently watched someone’s video from a shot show and they clarified at their booth that it is pronounced rake. I assume they were being truthful.
Not so many options at this price range, with those dimensions and with stainless steel? Yes, only half of what Spain produces is exactly that...I guess someone has to urgently revise his knowledge about what's out there in the market...

@@BOOSTEDLASER For a stainless steel, 14c28n is one of the toughest available in a knife, on par with AEB-L and NioMax. No other stainless is even close in toughness. Edge retention, for this toughness excellent, on par with 440C, and much better than 1095. It is clearly not low grade garbage.
The Chinese can make the worst garbage, and also make the most of the eletronics that you use every day, they do what you are willing to pay, they make excellent products, or of the quality that you are willing to pay. In fact they make the same product of different qualities and at different prices. For example, a glass, they make $0.10 one that breaks easily and another one that costs 1 dollar with the highest quality. To think that everything the Chinese do is of poor quality is a mentality of 30 years ago. They simply do what you ask them, with the quality that you ask for and they charge you appropriately.

How about Buck's 100 series?
The Cold Steel Master Hunter?
How about other Chinese makers like LW, Harnds, Bolte and Real Steel?
How easy is it to sharpen that steel
Easy
used and abused this knife and it breezed thru it like it's nothing. my only gripe is the sheath's belt clip. other than that, this is a solid little beast! The King of budget, EDC-sized fixed blade knife.
The Ruike F118 Jager looks like a smaller version of the Ka-Bar Turok from Jarosz
Dude, help me out, this beauty or the Druid 205? Thanks!
But the bullet on this Ruike Jager. Just a tad small on the grip but overall I'm super happy with the knife. It's one that's my off duty EDC knife carried cross draw 11 o'clock.
This looks like the same knife as the Rough Rider RR1869 on Amazon for $23.05. I may be wrong, but worth a look.
Although I don't like this steel, I do think the whole package is a great deal even at $65.00. Thanks for the video my Bladed Brother ⚔️✝
To each their own, but 14c28 is a very good stainless steel. It's not S35 or any super steel, but in this price range, it's excellent. It holds an edge pretty well, is easy to sharpen and maintain, and. responds to a strop very well.
New camera?
Joe Koltes nope had the Canon m50 for almost a year and the GoPro 7
I've never seen a mora garberg that expensive, I can order one right now for less than $70
At 2:29 you are hitting vertically while blade is in diagonal. Be careful , you can bend cutting edge or break blade this way.
Nope you are wrong
Found mine at Gun Show, and paid only
$50. !!
I have really small hands, can anyone let me know, the strongarm and the ruike, which one has the smaller handle? thank you
Ruike
Will be buying
love the "protractor". haha
Great video! THANK YOU!
Really great review!
Don't thrust someone with your thumb on the jimping unless you wanna break your thumb lol
Nice review
love work knives!
Roook, not Rake. Fruit has the ui in it and is pronounced froot so therefore Ruike is Roook not Rake.
Not that it really matters much but I recently watched someone’s video from a shot show and they clarified at their booth that it is pronounced rake. I assume they were being truthful.
@@jimshort9266uhmmm someone here in youtube contacted Ruike and support told him is rake...
It has the look of a knife I love, an Ontario Knife Rat 1. (I know, a folder) I don't like SS, it just doesn't sharpen well in my experience.
I have a Ruike hussar pocket knife. I find it easy to sharpen. Gets a razor edge 😊
If you are going to process food with this knife, you would not want to strike any ferro rods.
Thanks for the video, but I gotta pass on this blade!
Not so many options at this price range, with those dimensions and with stainless steel? Yes, only half of what Spain produces is exactly that...I guess someone has to urgently revise his knowledge about what's out there in the market...
Skip this & look into the Gerber premium Gator fixed For $80.00 you get S30V USA 🇺🇸 made. No contest
Its cheap in usa, not in other country
14c28n is a deal breaker, get a Bark River
Bark rivers are way too pricy
@@daveyboy6985 OR..you're 2 cheep or 2 broke.
When you grow up son,you will learn this: Better to buy something good ONCE...tan buy junk 20 times (or more)
No retort needed (look that word up)
Semper FI
Gunny
That junk steel is what razor blades are made from. Chips and rolls in 1 light duty use.
If you want to get your barkie, you go get it
I'd rather spend money on a cheaper knife that will last just as long sonny boy.

Nope. Made in China......
Chinese cut corners at every turn and exploit their people and children for cheap unskilled labor.
I just listen the Voice of reason :)
Lost me when you said Chinese made.
