I worked in manufacturing and I got sick but my supervisor threatened to write me up. So I tried to “tough” it out, went into work, and ended up catching a pneumonia and went to the ER for a couple days due to an extremely high fever. Now in my cushy white collar job, I TELL my manager when I’m taking days off. No company or position is literally worth dying for.
I just started in IT after being a mechanic for 17 years, and I gotta say it's true. My coworkers are taking days off for being completely sick, but no symptoms the next. Blue collar, we showed up sick and stayed away from each other. @sobchakdude for your question, IT is easier on my body. Doing industrial maintenance for years on years really tore my body up. Only thing about IT white collar jobs is dealing with entitled people that demand things like they're in the C-Suite. More mentally taxing, but overall better. Air conditioning is nice, and so is not working outside during a downpour of rain/snow
I remember calling in sick, still had to come, then collapsed at work. Got rushed to the docktersoffice, where they put AED on me cus i had a super low heartrate... Etc was at work the day after. Chefs we wear white but its still a bluecollar job
Going from being a custodian for a small town school in a rural are to working as a custodian in a big hospital in a bigger town, I DEFINITELY noticed this lmao not gonna complain now though
I empathize with and support those fellow people who also have decided to leave the blue collar rat race. I’m glad to never ever go back to blue collar jobs ever again.
Same. I jumped from job to job and never understood why nothing was a good fit to me. Got me first white collar job about 7 months ago and I don't see myself leaving lol it's not that the jobs don't fit it's the way companies are run and what is expected of you in blue collar work for little pay. I was killing my body for work and had bullshit benefits and pay. Now I sit on my ass all day and get paid 22K more a year than I ever have. I go to the gym everyday. I get out at 3-4 and have a life. I have weekends off, I have a month of PTO. Why the fuck would anyone work blue collar?
I dont think this is relevant anymore as a gen z. At my last blue collar job (that I quit from even after boss said he was planning to give me a raise) I'd just casually stay home, wake up at 1pm and respond to his text from 8am, "No I am not coming to work today" and come in the next day and its like nothing happened. I did that atleast a dozen times with the same outcome every time. However my white collar gen z cohorts like gen z boss in a mini seem to be getting laid off left and right lol. I suppose it comes down to how hard you are to replace.
🤣 Jimbo out here being the comedian
Worked in sheetmetal for 2 years and called in once and this is wayyyy too accurate lmao 😂

No one wants to work anymore put into perspective right here
@@handlesrstupid123No one wants to ruin their health anymore. Try again. Quit being willfully ignorant and stupid.
This is definitely a perfect scenario.
as someone who has worked in manufacturing for the past 7 years, i feel this to my bones. Only ever called off 1 time, and i didn't even want to.
This is too real Jimbo😭
😂😂😂your’re the man jimbo.
As someone whos been in both construction and IT, I haven't seen anything more accurate
Which is better?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
White collar call ins were completely wrong, once with a drs note and you might not get yelled at but the second time is very likely your job gone.
Bullshit slave work vs common sense approach to work 🤷♂️
Blue collar virtue signaling.
🤣
