  • In the last 50 years of general aviation, few people have had as much of an impact on the way that we operate our aircraft engines as George Braly. Every opportunity to chat with George is a “Master Class” in aviation.
Beginning in 1994, aeronautical engineers George Braly and Tim Roehl founded General Aviation Modifications, otherwise known as GAMI, in order to obtain an STC to install balanced fuel injectors on Continental Motors engines. Since that time, the company has become the leader in engine technology solutions including, their Tornado Alley Turbo conversions, Engine Cooling STCs and now what may be the savior for the coming 100LL fuel crisis. It's another amazing episode of SocialFlight Live!
“SocialFlight Live!” is a live broadcast dedicated to supporting General Aviation pilots and enthusiasts during these challenging times. Great, great interview. George, you are a true innovator and pioneer. Relentless, often boring, Endurance versus intensity and sugar rush, quick impact change is the hardest thing to do, I listened to your chat with Max T also recently too. I for one will be one of 10,000 pilots to look you up and shake your hand at OSH this year. Thank you, sincerely. As a 30 hour oil change, engine dehumidifier, pre heat before start, portable tug to save extra hot starts at the SS pumps, LOP “Slightly” OCD (also Bonanza) pilot on a Mike Busch like 2x (RCM based) TBO quest….it blows me away that the obvious net safety (failure risk), environmental, time, cost and performance issues have not had the FAA dedicate a team to support you getting this done10 years ago. As an engineer myself, i salute your tenacity and optimism as much as anything else. Good luck on “mile” 26 to 26.2 of your marathon. We owe you a beer at the finish line!

I’ll probably be dead before we get unleaded to Louisiana but this should have been approved over 20 years ago.

Amazing individual. While the replacement fuel is what will affect the most planes and pilots, I found the story of the T-34 fix absolutely fascinating.

Thank you for asking (and answering) my submitted question at 25:37 about compatibility with engines that have existing STC modifications. It sounds like it should not be a problem once G100UL becomes available!

Too bad the FAA didn’t get this through with Mobil 1 synthetic oil huh ?
