The dodge and burn technic is actually a genius idea! This would solve so many problems with blending every scene where the horizon and the sky can actually be hard to isolate with masks. This videos convinced me to purchase your course!
Superb video. The point about taking your sky with a clearer view is so duh! - But I wish I’d thought of it! Brilliant. Thank you🤣❤️❤️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ And I will start taking some long NR shots too. Thanks
Thanks for the video. We need videos on how to process the Milky Way, on how to add a ground photograph to the Milky Way using masking and blending technique, my friend. It would be great if you upload more videos :))
Hi Peter, Thanks for the tutorial. Gave a thumbs up and subscribed. Could you tell me how you go about stacking and tracking when there is light cloud cover, such as the cloud cover in the thumbnail image of this video. I am looking at buying a MSM tracker and cant find any info on tracking with clouds. I imagine it would become a blurry mess and a pain to process. Also interested to hear whether stacking works in light cloud cover. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks so much.
Ever do a 360 star trail panorama? That would be a cool tutorial. I've attempted to shoot and stitch during the day just to get an idea. My lens is an 18-50mm but my cmos is aps-c crop, so 18mm would be like 25mm opposed to a full frame.
You can adjust the brush size and hardness with the mouse by holding Alt/Option and right click (and hold). You can then adjust the brush by moving the mouse: Left or right to adjust size and Up or down to adjust Hardness That way it is way easier to find the right brush size in one go
Regarding the dodge and burn you screew the white passing the tool at the interface between the trees and sky maybe because you used a pen ou click many times with mouse. One could avoid it clicking with the left button of the mouse and keeping it pressed. That limite the dodge and burn to a level qhere areas that has been dodged or burt will not get more of the tool until you release the button and click again. I also include a couple of pixels diffusion at the mask to soft the transition. In order to eliminate the blur at the interface, do you think it is a good idea to just increase the elevation of mount? This way a small movement of the sky down would hide the blur.
Fantastic video! Very detailed! I only wish I could do the same thing in GIMP. I’m not familiar at all with Photoshop nor do I really want to pay a monthly subscription. Anybody have any options for these similar tasks with that program?
So THAT'S what dodge and burn does! Genius tool

Awesome! I have an almost identical workflow, but would use color picker for edge refinement. Love the Dodge/Burn technique.
instablaster.
Super helpful, as always. Thank you!!

Quick Mask Pro panel is also good option for masking.

Hi Peter,
Have you ever tried to blend milkyway tracked photos with Luminar 4? Is it possible?
Is this possible using Easy Panel or is it much more difficult?
You sound like Motojitsu
