These girls are incredibly good imo. One of the most diverse groups on the scene. They've got songs that are heavier than this, some that are more EDM influenced, some that are very K-popish and some that just blend multiple genres together. They've just completed their biggest tour yet around Japan where they were supported by some pretty big groups like a crowd of rebellion, Noisemaker and My First Story. They're definitely a group going big places in the future. They are also insanely good live and know how to get a crowd pumping. Check out this live performance of their song 'Trash' - ruclips.net/video/jz4uJ71EcoI/видео.html

Thats good to know they have songs with different feels. I for sure will have to check out more!
Oh wow thats really cool. I am familiar with a crowd of rebellion and my first story.
Thank you so much for the recommendation! I love checking out live performances because the raw talent of every member is really on display!

They AWESOME! in their lives; Minami the lead singer has a very rocker attitude and a great voice. Also she has a personal proyect called Deathnayan more experimental and crazy. Another fave song from them "Rain"

They are very cool! Ive been listening to this song a lot on my workout playlist. The vocals were really good! I gotta say though the rapping from MIRI was a huge surprise. She killed it.
Overall the whole song is just a banger.
I actually heard of DEATHNYANN before! I didnt know it was Minami. I came across it one day when searching for new music. I think the song I heard was Tarantula. Pretty wild stuff haha.

I really like Wagamama Rakia. I follow a couple of K-pop girl groups (Mamamoo & Dreamcatcher) but I like the way that Rakia seems more raw somehow, especially in the rap lines. The musicians backing them up are fantastic. Rakia is very good live. Here’s a live performance of their song “rain” ruclips.net/video/LKZ8Lr08BbQ/видео.html

I gotta say, the rap lines were actually really really good. I am a fan of Kpop myself, I saw BLACKPINK when they were here in LA.
I have heard some Dreamcatcher and they are pretty good, Ive only heard 2 or 3 songs b y them though. Ill have to check this one out.
All that being said, JRock is still my favorite thing. Combining elements of EDM, jpop, jrap, kpop, is something I find really interesting and entertaining.
      Thanks for the recommendation!

Let me start my comment by suggesting a comparable (at least musically) group to WAGAMAMA Rakia that's criminally underrated and definitely not known enough: NEO JAPONISM and their song Trigger (there shouldn't be any copyright issues, they're not contracted to a major label).
Now that this is out of the way, welcome to the world of Alt-Idols. Musically a lot of those groups are all over the place, from Techno to Metal to J-Pop and sometimes everything in one song. They're basically Idol groups, but without the rules of Idols (pure, humble, always perfect and in character). A Japanese big-shot music producer (I think it was Akimoto, the producer of AKB48) once said "Idols don't sell music, they sell fantasies", but alt-idols are like normal people and not some invented fairy tale characters. They say what comes to mind, mostly behave like they really are and don't need to be perfect on and off-stage. The term "alt-idol" has nothing to do with the music they play, it's the attitude and behavior that's the difference. The most famous example of "Idol or Alt-Idol" that always confuses people: BABYMETAL. They're definitely idols, not alt-idols. They behave like idols, they perform like idols, they ARE trained idols. Just because they don't play J-Pop doesn't mean they're not.
The by far most famous and successful alt-idol group is BiSH, which is an abbreviation of "Brand-New Idol Shit". I'd suggest their live performance of GiANT KiLLERS from the BRiNG iCiNG SHiT HORSE TOUR FINAL, but their stuff is unfortunately heavily copyrighted on RUclips so you'd need to put some kind of transparent watermark over the video to maybe make it work. They call themselves "Gakki no nai Punkband" or "Punkband without instruments" and basically made the concept of "alt-idols" famous.
Another interesting group is BiS, who are the predecessors of BiSH from the same agency and have a similar (Punk)rock style, only with less J-Pop mixed in. And another example that's more on the metal/electro and all-over-the-place side musically would be "Zenbu Kimi no Sei da" (ぜんぶ君のせいだ, transl. "It's all your fault").

Thank you for all the info! It is always nice to have a lot of good information consolidated into 1 nice post!
Ive never actually heard the term alt idol before. I actually like this feel a bit better with this alt idol thing rather than regular idol. Not that I have any problems with standard idols over some rock music. As long as the music is good and they bring some good singing and maybe throw some EDM beats with a little jpop/jrap hell even screaming, im cool with it.
NEO JAPONISM sounds familiar but I do not believe I have heard any of their stuff so I will have to check it out.
I will say I am familiar with BiSH, I have checked out a lot of their songs before. As for BiS, I dont think ive every come across any of their stuff. Interesting they are connected to BiSH.
I actually did check out ぜんぶ君のせいだ, I just havent edited the video yet. The song I checked out was 僕喰賜君ノ全ヲ. I thought they were pretty cool.
Thank you again for taking the time to write up so much information!

@@Shreddawg Thanks for your kind words. You could say I like to give lectures ;). I'll be looking forward to Zenbu Kimi no Sei da and more Japanese music in general on your channel. I also don't know where the term "alt-idol" comes from, I don't think it's something that's used in Japan. But some of these groups really don't like being called Idols (BiSH for example, that's why they call themselves Punkband without Instruments), so it's probably just an easy way to distinguish them from "regular idols".
I'm not a big fan of most "regular" Idols. The whole "pure, wholesome, super kawaii character" spiel and how they're controlled by their management is a bit too ridiculous for my taste. Not that all of them are like this, I quite like Momoiro Clover Z for example and they also have a few pretty fun songs and especially good MVs. サラバ、愛しき悲しみたちよ ("Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi-tachi yo" or transl. Goodbye, my Dear Sorrows) comes to mind.
I love BiSH, it's a real shame they're gonna disband at the end of the year. But luckily most of them have their solo careers and/or other ventures in entertainment already. You could say BiSH was born because BiS imploded and their producer, Watanabe Junnosuke, wanted to found a new group with a similar attitude and style. If you want to listen to BiS I'd suggest "IDOL" (live or MV is both pretty crazy) for their (mostly) original formation and a pretty heavy sound or "スモーキン・ビリー" (Smokin' Billy) if you want to listen to the current formation and a bit more punkrock style.

@@ANDOR- The comments and info are greatly appreciated. Chatting with people is the biggest reward of doing RUclips. Connecting with people and sharing good music was and is my main goal here.
I do a pretty good mix of Japanese rock on this channel (I sometimes step outside of the Japanese bubble but not too often). A lot of times I try to feature bands ive just discovered. I dont really pay much attention to how "successful" a band is. I just look up stuff that seems interesting and I check it out.
Makes sense to find a way to distinguish themselves from the stereotypical perfect pure idol dolls. I personally just enjoy music in general so Idol stuff doesnt bother me too much as long as the songs are catchy/enjoyable to me. I enjoy watching the Love Live idol concerts and things like that. But I did enjoy the original anime as well haha.
Of course what is enjoyable from person to person is completely objective. Thats why I try to only post videos from things I enjoyed. Essentially I dont want to shit on someone's favorite band or song, etc. Just because something is not necessarily for me does not mean it is bad, we just all have our own tastes.
For sure ill check out some BiS since BiSH is really enjoyable. Ive currently got a backlog of around 20 videos so it may take a while. I am currently in busy season with work so my uploads tend to be delayed. I do try to record somewhere between 3-8 videos a week over the weekend so I have a backlog of videos recorded just incase I miss some recording days.
Thanks again for stopping by and chatting :)
