Millions or even a billion will die, initially Many more would die. And many times more fish would die. It's just all negative, spread this info until governments have no choice but to do so and stop any further damage
Coral also reduces the carbon in our atmosphere. It is one of the few things that actually stores CO2, and turns it into rocks. Coral is one of the few ways we can reduce the CO2 in our atmosphere, but that doesn't work if it dies
Idea: make a genetically modified supercoral that can take the rising temperatures and release them and the other coral will die leaving space for this new coral.
This is why too much money corrupts people. Now people are so selfish they would rather preserve themselves than the planet itself... :((( People who are actually smart and have a heart would really try and make a difference. Sadly people care about money more.
No corals= **No Underwater beauty **No sea food **No wave resistors **Less jobs **Less tourism **End of most Underwater Food Chains **Beach erosions ***Our country will be broke and will sink into the ocean*
What are you doing to prevent this? Cutting plastic out of your life? Only driving when completely necessary? Spreading awareness of the situation? If not then you have no place to speak. Of course we need to change but are we going to? No. Probably not.
I see a world where fish are the most expensive food. I see a world where disease thrives. I see a world where corals are dead. I see a world where we're too late to bring it back. The quicker we give up on it. The quicker we will suffer the consequences of our ignorance.
Maybe not too late, at least with technology. The critically endangered elkhorn coral was bred in a lab for the first time, which means genetically modified reefs could be the future. Unfortunately it would not be the original reef.
@@flossingjonah9066 Not viable. The evolution of todays coral reefs took place over the course of millions of years, allowing for wide biological and genetic diversity. Any disturbance in the form of heatwaves, pollution, geochemical changes etc are more likely to be able to be withstood with a higher degree of genetic and biological diversity. Replacing that with a few species of tolerant coral would technically work, yes, but it would be highly susceptible to even minor disruptions. The coral would be there, but the ecological role that the reefs fill would not, and the 500 million people as well as all the other life forms that rely on them will be forced to adapt to new conditions. Some of them will be able to, but the vast majority will not.
Snick Dave solid water that is ice is colder than that of liquid sea temperature.. when ice melts it is because either ambient temperatures exceed that melting point or the body of water is raised enough to break the ice part.. often times both so in effect a molten ice cap is now warmer water.
Nothing we can do we are doom, try saving it?who want to and with what resource and when the time comes that they are like 5% or less governments and people would only start campaigning.Always this stuff that we cause and we again are always the ones who try to save ourselves from our own mess.
King Dice I know I work in wind energy and my company is on the brink of producing long term battery storage for the grid so in terms of resources they are there.. from that point we can convert all the coal, gas and nuclear energy plants into wind and solar farms by simply plopping a few batteries down to store the energy being produced now while simultaneously tearing down parts of these structures and replacing them with wind and solar till the plant is gone.. That's at least 1/5th of the problem solved.
We should collect all the reef fish and put them in the best aquariums in the world to protect them. It's already too late to save the reefs. As far as coastal defenses are concerned, we have the option of building both soft and hard defenses (trees and dams)so we don't really need corals. People should switch to a vegetarian diet to reduce their dependence on sea food. Bio diversity can be supported even by kelp ecosystems. As far as medicines are concerned, we can grow those snails separately so we don't have to depend on reefs surviving. To conclude, reef systems are not required apart from for the tourism industry, mainly in Australia.
Umm.... but coral thrives in warmer water. Raising the water level gives corals more space to grow. So if we want more coral what we need is global warming. Shame that it isn't happening though.
Chris Badger damn thats some very stupid reasoning if melting of glaciers happen faster and sea levels rise humans will have no way to benefit from coral reefs since we will be dead

hi, I think coral Bleaching is also due to pollution and the assiduity of the water, and we use the word hotter to explain all of it.
Snick Dave Nope, the water is getting hotter (like when the ice cubes in you cup of water are melting) and more acidic.
Wait what about new zealand?
Consequences will NEVER be the same. End of discussion.
