    Perfect. Now you can dump that giant spoon into the big roasting pot filled with pumpkin soup and drink without spooning, then spooning then spooning over and over again. Perfect.

    Nice! What brand is your knife? Also, how often did you need to strop with such hard wood?! You do great work.

      The one used here is made by @greenhavenforge. I probably strop every 30 minutes or so. Never really timed it and I usually get lost in time:)

    Did anyone suggest red Alder? It would have a greyish outer bark and a distinctive redish core. I used to see them everywhere when we lived there.

      Alder had been mentioned and I almost didn’t bother with the wood because I assumed it was alder from the bark. Alder from the Oregon coast that I’m accustomed to is not very dark and this wood is also very very hard. Much harder than any alder I’ve carved. However, I know nothing about red alder so maybe…
