Grabbed the fork based on this video and I am blown away. It is a huge improvement over the stock. I love that I can apply gas without it disengaging and how it seems to steer even when I didn't re-enable ACC.
@@bryan.deleon Ill check it out later as I am happy at the moment. I went in and turned off all the debug info and put on quiet mode and now feel like I can use it without noticing it.
Interesting, I didn't have any problems with the audio, sure there is some road noise but your voice is clear to me. I really appreciate the information in your videos. Sometimes it can be hard to find info on OpenPilot. My next vehicle purchase will be based around compatibility with OP.
I appreciate the kind words, thank you. Depending on the time frame of when you are buying a new car, I would really like to hear back from you. I feel like my generation of vehicle is the last of appropriate vehicles to purchase with OP in mind; great compatibility and performance boost from stock. But new stock ADAS systems are getting so much better, and popular cars are being locked out, that I fear for Comma's future with newer cars.
@@bryan.deleon That is something I have been thinking about , I would imagine the OEMs will improve security and make it harder to tap in. My wife has a '18 Grand Cherokee but she is not interested in me messing with it. So I will have to get something for myself. I would like to get a Ford Maverick but support doesn't look likely.
@@scpowered Funny enough I was poised to sell my Rav4 Hybrid with the hopes of snaggin the 2WD Hybrid Maverick too. Glad I did not, since it would rely on hopes and prayers for great ADAS. But the Maverick would still be a great car/truck nonetheless.
@@bryan.deleon The maverick is great and I may still go with it. It ticks all the other boxes for me...... But the desire for self driving is strong ☺️
I want to add my use case here. I prefer to break early in my Rav4 hybrid, especially when in traffic on surface streets, so I would use it to let it keep steering while I came to a stop more efficiently. I am very much an edge case as I drive like a little old man in general, but I was not even aware of this fork, I an excited to try it tomorrow. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have a follow up video. I am NOW a MADS convert, with the exact same reason you stated. Hands free but slowing down to a stop using revenue brake as much as possible in my Rav4 Hybrid as well. Cheers and safe travels!
I'm getting a 2019 Rav4 Hybrid and have a Comma 2 cloned ordered. I would love to hear what fork runs the Rav the best from your experience? Besides the SP I believe I have a number of Dragon Pilot additions on the clone and am wondering which one to start with? Thanks for time if you get a chance to reply.
II really love your video uploads. Honestly, one of the best with regards to Comma Openpilot YT videos. BUT it's really sad, that I hear more road noise than the audio "content". I'm looking forward that this will get fixed in the future. I am waiting for Comma to support the latest Toyota Sienna. As soon as it does I will purchase a Sienna and the Comma Three. Keep up the good work.
Hi there again. Quite a coincidence that the new version's called SunnyPilot and that summer's here already. Given that I couldn't hear you that well, I wonder how this compares with previous versions.
To be honest, I only briefly tried out Sunny in the past and turned off MADS so was not using it with its intended purpose. I will try to use this long term. Sorry for the audio, I will see about fixing it.
@@bryan.deleon Good to hear. Funny as this question may be, I wonder if passengers interact with OpenPilot as well in any way besides the driver. Since you most likely can't play copyrighted audio in future videos, I'll have to play video game soundtracks on my own on your next long driving video. The Deus Ex soundtrack would be my choice. Don't know if you or your inner circle came across the Deus Ex series at one point.
At this point, if you have a Comma Three, SunnyPilot is probably the best fork to run for OpenPilot (strong argument as better than default OpenPilot). The level of granular control over the software and clear documentation puts it above all forks at this time. If you use Comma Two, then DragonPilot has put efforts to accommodate for the older software with a robust feature set. Honestly, MADS (github.com/sunnyhaibin/sunnypilot#modified-assistive-driving-safety-mads) is a great stop gap until (if ever e2e) is realized. Also having access to test branches that are current to the latest that OpenPilot has to offer means you are able to experience, evaluate, and discuss the future of OpenPilot.
@@bryan.deleon after testing a few branches I'd have a agree!! Dragon pilot is pretty cool tho because it has the ability to change the acceleration profile! The documentation thing is huge. Your adaptive cruise control system cannot be controlled by Openpilot and that is why you are hearing that it will not have e2e support. However, github.com/sunnyhaibin/sunnypilot#enhanced-speed-control is already working for some Volkswagen, Honda, and Hyundai/Kia/Gensis; e2e decides how fast it should be going based on what it sees (theoretical), but the system in the link will determine the speed your car will drive at based on Map Data information found in Open Street Maps. I am not sure if there is an ETA, but you can ask on the fork maintainers discord: discord.gg/wRW3meAgtx I would give Sunnypilot a try (same link above) as it is based on latest master-ci anyway. There is also a toggle in there that forces "stop n go" for Toyota that works on some models that you can also try, since your car lacks it.
