  • We trekked from lush green bhaba valley which is in Kinnaur district to barren pin valley which is in Lahaul and Spiti district, in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
In September of 2019 with indiahikes.
In this video we share how our six days trek from kafnu to mudh village went.
Route followed by us was Kafnu - Mulling - Karah - Phutsirang - Mangrungse - Mudh.
Altitude of pin bhaba pass was 16105 ft.

Did the trek in 2008 - I led 12 young people of seventeen year old teenagers(for World Challenge (UK) having driven up from Manali, then over the Rotang Pass. Starting just above Kaza, trekking through the mountains east of the Kaza/Spiti Valley road then crossing over at Dhankhar and the river, then heading west up towards Mhud. We crossed on a bucket seat river crossing, before Mhud Village and then into the small valley and campsite, which is the final campsite in this video. We had a rest day and then went over the Pass into Bhaba Valley, leaving at around 3.30 a.m. As you see here, in the video, there is a lot more snow on the long trek up to the pass. We had snow showers at the Pass but the hard work had been done, getting down to the campsite by early afternoon. We camped at one more campsite before finishing at Kafnu. A very memorable trek, particularly the flowers in the lower Bhaba Valley and the tall cedar trees on the steep sided slopes and narrow path before arriving in Kafnu.

How I would love a couple of weeks of peace and quiet trekking up from Kafnu after the mad, mad, absolutely mad World of COVID-19 we have all gone through. The smell of resin from the cedar trees would be divine, a cup of tea brewed on a little gas cooker and my miniature kettle, while I watch little white necked, brown dippers dancing on the stones at the River's edge. Then looking up in wonder at those distant white peaks towards the Pass. Now that would be my heaven!

Hi , it is not recommended for beginners , if you haven't done any Himalayan trek. This is medium-difficult level trek. The preparation we did was to run regularly and also did few sahyadri treks in Maharashtra... AMS can happen to anyone irrespective of beginner or experienced. One needs to listen to instructions of your local leaders to prevent AMS , you can search online as well...
