I just love her! Thanks for all the good information. Because of you I’m now a proud owner of the small bamboo spin set, the full red lace 4” set, the 4” mini set. And last week a present from a friend the blue shorties. I feel very blessed with all of this, specially the connectors so I can use my mini cable to the small set. The large cable is my least favorite.
I love this overview of ChiaoGoo needle sets, the information is so helpful. I have watched this video numerous times when deciding if I need another set.
Oh, thank you so much for this! Now I know I might not need the shorties, since I'm a magic loop fiend 😅 But I'm saving up for a ChiaoGoo set so now I know I'm gonna prefer a standard set!
This is SUCH a farking brilliant info video! Thank you SO much for putting this one together, Chantelle! I watched this one and the other one you suggested in this video and splashed out and bought myself the 4" small set! I love working with my dpns, however I can feel it's time to fully embrace the interchangeble circulars world. A squillion thank-you's for your guidance!
I’m so glad you’re about to explain this because after 20 years of knitting, I finally got myself a nice set of Chiagoo needles and I’m confused if I got the right ones or not
I am an occasional knitter and remember seeing my mother knitting socks, mittens and even gloves in dp steel needles. When she was alive, I never thought to ask her about all this and now that she is gone, I can't ask her. How did she manage to keep those needles from flying all over the place? I have done nothing smaller than child-sized sweater cuffs so how would circulars help with thumbs and fingers? So those of you whose parents are still alive, get any questions answered now no matter what the subject.
I own 3 Complete Twist sets 1 - 4” and 2- 5”, 3 sock mini sets 2-4” and 1-5” and a set of red shorties, plus many added extra long cables in small, large and mini plus extra tips, in both Twists and Spins. I use every set I own. I mostly use 2 circulars for socks and circles. I like magic loop too and use mini cables with an adaptor for sizes above a US2.
Thank you for your good information about the shorties from ChiaoGoo. I want to buy the sock knit set in red. I’m not sure which one to buy. The blue or the red? The red is for sock knitting, which I want to do. And it is also possible to knit sleeves with them, with this size? Is it a good investment? Thank you so much.
Yes. Keep in mind that the cable is less the length of the tips. So if you have 5" tips the 30" cable will get you to 40" and the 22" cable will get you to 32"
Great video! How to decide between the 4” and 5” set? I’m a relatively new knitter and have been using the Clover Takumi Interchangeable set, which are 4”. I feel comfortable with them, but now that I can knit a bit quicker than when I started out, I’m frustrated with how the yarn does not slide over the needles. I need to shove them. Haha. Doing some research I’m leaning towards the Chiaogoo. Do you recommend the 5” or 4”? So far I’ve only knitted with 8mm needles with bulky yarn, although I have plenty of lighter weight yarn (I’m a crocheter in the US). Thanks!
I got the complete set in 4" length. Chose to order a couple of 5" pairs in larger diameters, since the 4" needles are a bit harderer to handle in the larger sizes (in my opinion.) It's great, because you can get one set, and buy additional items as you need them. I also got a single size set of the blue shorties in 5mm. You get two tip lengths and two cord lengths. And those blue cords and short needles can be used with any other "small" join size needles and cords.
Yeah you can use large tips on small cables or small tips on mini cables. Chiaogoo release new things all the time. I definitely need to make more videos 😃
I do love mine, I have the small and large sets of the TWISTs and the Spin Tips, I love the red cables, I also have the mini's, I can't handle knitting in a small circle plus I prefer magic loop with my twists. I did see in ChiaGoo's Rav group (staff members post) that the Blue shorties will have a blue cable and they are more flexible than the red, so when you stock those cables I will be buying them, i also need to get the tunisian set from you once i have saved up :P
The blue shorties would be great for knitted hats but I would add an extra cable, not sure which cable hub diameter ( large or small) but its easy to add any size cables- both spin or twist types are swappable. The blue shortie set would be a great add-on for any ChiaoGoo complete owner. Specifically for small doll & toy makers or Hat, mitten makers that use dk or worsted weight yarns. The red shorties tips are more in line with the mini sock set size needles just shorter length.
They would definitely consider it if a large number of people were complaining about the price. Not sure if they'd give them away for free or at a loss, though. We can dream! ;)
I almost always do magic loop. I'm happy with my circulars but I am looking to try Chiaogoo. How are the cables when it comes to magic loop technique. Thanks.
Magic loop is not my favourite technique. I personally find the small red cables a dash too firm, so I use the nylon or use some adaptors and use the mini red cables (heaps more flexible)
Would I be right in thinking that once you have bought 1 set you can just add individuals mini needles and cables and it may work out cheaper than buying extra sets and custom it to your own needs and prefrence surely
You just need to keep an eye on the connections they have 3 so that you get the best experience mini small and large... But they have inexpensive connectirs so that you can use small tips on mini cables and large tips on small cables.
Which set do you have? Want? Need for your next project?
I have the smalll bamboo and stainless steel sets, with some of the big tips, as that is what I use the most.
I have the complete twist set from mini to large. I also love to use their dpns.
@@chaddilingus oh Nice!!!
I just love her! Thanks for all the good information. Because of you I’m now a proud owner of the small bamboo spin set, the full red lace 4” set, the 4” mini set. I want the shorties but the set is so expensive! And they don't sell the tips individually so that I can slowly get them 😭
must. have. all. the. sets!!!
I love this overview of ChiaoGoo needle sets, the information is so helpful. I have watched this video numerous times when deciding if I need another set.
new knitter here. I just ordered the red lace full set 4" and the red lace mini 4". I cannot wait to get them
What will be your first project?
This is the best video I've seen explaining the different sets! Thank you!
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback!
Awesome video as always with so much useful information. Might have to visit your website and order some Shorties.
Nice video Chantelle! Just what I need before I dive into the brand!
Oh, thank you so much for this! Now I know I might not need the shorties, since I'm a magic loop fiend 😅 But I'm saving up for a ChiaoGoo set so now I know I'm gonna prefer a standard set!
That's awesome! I'm glad to be able to help!

I'm so glad I could help Lorioh!
Fiberific! omg, so amI!!! It was doing my head in trying to sort out which ones I was going to purchase! You are a true gem!
I'm really glad you did this video, I have been wondering about these sets. Thank you!
AND I have just bought the red shorties! I love dpns but circular needles make travel knitting so much easier!
They really do!!
I enjoy knitting magic loop over using dpns - don’t you just hate it when one of your dpns falls out of your project?
Good video, you are knowledgeable intelligible and quick about giving the information excellent excellent skills in videoing
I’m so glad you’re about to explain this because after 20 years of knitting, I finally got myself a nice set of Chiagoo needles and I’m confused if I got the right ones or not
I hope I was able to clear it up!

that is an enviable collection of awesome you have right there!
Thank you for your good information about the shorties from ChiaoGoo. I want to buy the sock knit set in red. I’m not sure which one to buy. The blue or the red? Quick question is there a 32-40 inch cable I could purchase for the red or blue shorties? Love how informative your channel is, Thanks!
Yes. Keep in mind that the cable is less the length of the tips. So if you have 5" tips the 30" cable will get you to 40" and the 22" cable will get you to 32"
Thank You Very Much ❤️
Thanks for the info and the blooper :-P
This is Helen Mz by the way, I changed my channel name, long story, lol.
Hey Helen! Thank you!

It really does depend on what you are making. You could pick yourself up tips and cables without buying the whole set to test it out.
You star, I was trying to figure what sets I should buy know I know what the difference between mini and shorty is. Thanks.
Which way are you going to go?
I got the complete set in 4" length. Chose to order a couple of 5" pairs in larger diameters, since the 4" needles are a bit harderer to handle in the larger sizes (in my opinion.)

Oh! And they make join size adapters, so you can even use larger needles withe small join sized cords.
Yeah you can use large tips on small cables or small tips on mini cables. Chiaogoo release new things all the time. I definitely need to make more videos 😃
Thank you for this great video!
Thanks so much Lauren, DId you have a set in mind? DId I change your mind?
Yes I’m asking for both the red and blue mini sets for Christmas!!!!
I do love mine, I have the small and large sets of the TWISTs and the Spin Tips, I love the red cables, I also have the mini's, I can't handle knitting in a small circle plus I prefer magic loop with my twists. Keep an eye out on the socials, Im sure I won't be able to keep quiet when they arrive!
I LOVE ChaiGoo Red Lace Needles... I would love to have a set... I just have a few fixed circulars.
Would the blue shorties work for hats?
They would for smaller hats, but for adult hats I personally prefer 16"
The blue shorties would be great for knitted hats but I would add an extra cable, not sure which cable hub diameter ( large or small) but its easy to add any size cables- both spin or twist types are swappable. The blue shortie set would be a great add-on for any ChiaoGoo complete owner. Aaaargh! Now I need a set of shorties 😆
Yes you do.
So if I and plenty of my friends n family ask them to considerably lower their prices, they’ll do it?
They would definitely consider it if a large number of people were complaining about the price. Not sure if they'd give them away for free or at a loss, though. We can dream! ;)

Hi what are the twistys and how much should you pay for a set of shorty and also how much does the twistys set cost??
HI Rachel, it will really depend on where you are getting them from.
I’m considering between spin and twist. Is there any difference between the spin’s clear cables and twist’s red one?
can i use the red cables with the bamboo nedlesset.
Yes 🥰 you can use any of the right sized cables on either of the tips.
I want small meddles and cord. For very small collars
Maybe look into the shorties sets. They can be very short.
Ha love the blooper!
Thanks Pam!
