    3:05 if you don't proceed forward in the middle after the red arrow disappears and treat the situation as a *GIVE WAY* uncontrolled intersection, you would fail with the majority of driving test assessors in Perth

      @urlame1447 good chance the traffic on the left hand side along with the traffic on the right hand side of the intersection will have a green light....that's maybe one possibility.

    Traffic lights with no green arrow, or just showing blank, is dangerous. I am four days past from a T-bone accident that I accidentally caused, without due consideration of giving way to oncoming traffic from the opposite direction. I still haven't emotionally recovered from the trauma. Such traffic lights with no green arrow present shouldn't even exist!!! I am deeply disappointed and scarred for life from the incident 😡. Now I temporarily lost confidence in driving thanks to these kinds of traffic lights.

      Horrible, I got confused by the same lights and was involved in a fatal car crash with fractured right arm. Having arrows in place would prevent quite a number of accidents from happening. 😔😔

      R u serious? Why should we have arrows just for you when we have not needed to have arrows forever? Think you just need to be a better driver and have known the rules. I wouldn't go around complaining about missing a train and saying the train should have come a few minutes later. You needa accept responsibility for your own mistakes lmao

      This is surely one of the confusing thing when i started driving 9 years ago. Even after years of driving - sometimes you just forgot that when you get green, you have to giveaway to incoming, those to turn left and the pedestrian. It gets easier with practice, good thing I have one like that near where I live, thus I do it probably hundreds of times.

I tried to get the assessor to explain to me exactly what i did wrong , and what i should have done.this is my 7th time, my heart is so heavy ,as i'm not confident anymore and wonder if i'll ever pass the PDA.😥😥

    I have a question: suppose I am waiting near the square box at green light and looking for the clearance to turn right. Lets say it is a very busy road and the traffic signal changes to red but I haven't been able to turn right and cross the road. In this case whose priority will be the top? I suppose mine, am I correct? Or what is the rule here? Appreciate your help. Thanks

    In my country (not Australia), they teach us exactly how you describe it in your video, so I was seeing so many people not doing it (95%) in Brisbane, I thought the Australian rules were different! So why do you think so many people aren't doing this correctly? I suppose they mix up this rule with the "do not crowd the intersection" one, or their driving instructor themselves are confused about this rule, so they have been taught wrongly.

    if this shape is on road it reminds of no green arrow signal here ?

    Hi i have my driving test soon. Is it ok to cross over your hands when steering? I find it much easier then feeding the wheel. Also is it ok to let the wheel slide In your hand to self centre in the test.

    Hey Mate, so does that means when there is a Solid green light (not an arrow) we have to wait in middle and look out for the traffic and then go.And when theres a green arrow, we can just normally make a right turn.
    Thanks!

  • @marklivos

    Is it okay if one opts not to go forward when there is no arrow but there is a green light like the last scenario with the white Ute at the end of the video?

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  Год назад

      It's not because one would interupt the flow. There are sets of traffic lights without a green arrow at all, so the only option is to proceed when traffic clears from the opposite direction

    Can we right-turn with a green light when the arrow is red in this situation?

  • @gailmackay7395

    At 0.55 into the video, when cars were turning right with no green arrow, should the big black van have waited behind the white line at the traffic lights and not proceeded until the silver sedan car in front of him completely cleared the intersection?

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  2 года назад +1

      Yes, that is correct Gail. It happens all the time, but in the driving test, it would be an automatic fail. From the safety point of you, the black van driver was certain that the car in front of them was going to clear the intersection and followed close behind. Even cops wouldn't pull someone over for doing that as it was obvious that as soon as the white van came through from the opposite direction both turning cars took off at the same time. 2:32 was very much the same where the white ute driver took it and partially went through the red light. By the way, that intersection has both red light and speed camera, the red light camera didn't shoot at that time.

    What if we don't get a chance to cross and the light turns red?

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  2 года назад +10

      You would go after the last car that proceeds straight from the opposite direction. So, even if it turns red, you have a few seconds until the left and right side traffic lights turn green. Never risk beating cars from the opposite direction, wait until safe to do so. Thanks for watching!

    • @carultch
      @carultch 8 месяцев назад

      No arrow means straight traffic is prioritized, and there are no protected signal states for cross-traffic turns. It has to do with the prevailing amount of turning traffic compared to straight traffic. It is likely for turns onto minor roads, that cross-traffic turns have to yield on green circle, while two roads of equal rank will have protected turning phases.
