- Ever wondered how to put a motorcycle on the back of a semi truck? Wonder no more! See how we installed ours, as well as how we actually load our motorcycle. The Rampage Power Lift was originally designed for pick up trucks. However, it has been utilized many different ways to adapt for a semi truck. This is just our 'redneck' way of accomplishing the task.

Man, that is so Cool. Very safe way to load, unload, and haul your Harley on the Truck. This is a must have imho!
Thanks! We have since upgraded from the wood to a steel stand for the lift. We created a video of that as well!
Slick system. thanks for making this.
@lancecluster of course! 😊 If you gave any questions..don't hesitate asking!
Pretty damn smart way to install.
Works really well.
I think I'll have to get one for my KLR! This is sweet!
Thanks! It's a game changer!!
Nossa !
Que legal , se aqui no Brasil tivesse esse tipo de rampa ficaria muito bom....
Mas que pena , que empresas não pensam em nós , caminhoneiros .
Belo vídeo super like !!!
Sou carreteiro aqui no Brasil , tenho motocicleta, e não posso carregar ela comigo .
hell ya. been looking for something like this.
Thanks!
I'm going to take your idea and use it on my truck. 👍
Lemme know how it works for you. Will answer any questions you may have.
I ended up putting a blue ox lift on my truck. Works good but its noisy and the ramp extensions are a pain in the butt.
Where did you buy the motorcycle lift
I gotta do this. I don’t have room there on my FLD. But I was thinking about using the first 5‘ of my upper deck as a “covered wagon” style sides and tarp to store my bike. That leaves me with 48’ for freight.
The trailer is much higher than the catwalk. Do you think this ramp would work that high?
Thanks for watching, and the comment. The rampage lift will not make it to the ground from the upper deck. You will have to build an extension ramp that supports the bottom of the lift, and provides a ramp to the front wheel cup. This will make it much harder to load and unload by yourself.
Watch those angle mounts to loader frame they might loosen , as you have a gap above angle , I just bought a Ramage, should be helpful .
Will do for sure, we check it several times a day because I like the bike, lol. This has 300k plus miles on it so far.
Wish I had this when I was trucking in business. What's minimum wheelbase requirement to get this installed?
My bike is 43 inchs wide at the bars. I left an inch clearance to the back of the sleeper. Just make sure the trailer clears it on 90° turn. My 5th wheel is all the way back. There are so many combinations of bike width, 5th wheel placement it is kinda hard to answer the question outright.
How do you stay under weight at the Scales?
Evening sir. I think i have my boss talked into letting me do this and your video will be a big help!! However, i think the only way i can pull this off is to get an overweight permit. Are there difft types? I dont know. I would have to run myb5th wheel all the way back and then see if the reefer would still clear the bike. Will be taking measurements of the width of bike (04 Night Train) when i get home on Monday. I also assume, by the type of truck n trailer in video, that u pull oversize to begin with. Boss even said he'd get me an extended frame Pete, but his concern is the weight. Im guessing that to get around the 12, 34, 34 is to just get a permit? Would that dictate having to run 12.5k tires in the front as well? P.S. will prob be getting a new 2022 Cascadia by the end of this yr. Thank you.
We do haul oversize on occasion. We haul jet engines primarily so weight isn't an issue for us. The frame for the lift, lift, and bike is approximately 1150lbs. We run our 5th wheel all the way back.
How much weight can you carry?!
My Volvo sleeper weighs close to 20k. You must be close to 30 or 40k without a trailer?
What’s awesome
Omg YES!!!!!!
is there a way to connect the trailer to the truck without getting the big wire tangled on the lift
My trailer air lines and electrical cord are rerouted to the very back of the truck by the tail lights. We modified the trailer as well so all lines are hydraulic quick connects. Hooe this answers your question.
I’m in the middle of rebuilding a 272wb western Star 4900ex. This is something I was considering. But I only wanna load a 400cc motard on it. Or some light weight enduro.
I’m considering same concept but not as heavy duty and I’d push the bike up. No winch.
Motards are a quarter of the weight of the Harley I think.
That could still be tough. There may not be much room to walk beside it while pushing. Wish you the best of luck and let us know how it turns out.
If you had a rails system you might be able to use a manual winch from a boat trailer...
I just did the same but without the ramp system. Will post videos soon
hi there, what size of winch do you have on it ? thank you and be safe brother!!!....
This one has a 3,500lbs winch.
How did you do your air lines and Pigtail?? Just picked one of these up and will be mounting it on my t660 next week or so... Thanks
We re-routed them with hydraulic, quick connect fittings out the back of the tractor.
Hey, feel free to get ahold of us if you have any questions when you go to mount yours!! It can present challenges, but is so nice to have the bike along!!
Thank God for good American men like you 🙏 fucking thank you now my big rig can have my baby by my side
What size/how many lb winch are you using on your setup?
I am using the one that came with the Rampage lift.
How much room do you consider to have to be safe between the lift and the trailer.
I have a 2019 freightliner cascadia and I was thinking about stretching the frame
Mine has 40 inchs and clears by 6.
Im looking to do this with no cutting/welding on my 20 cascadia. Gonna do some measurements and what not. Im thinking i will have to keep 5th wheel all the way back so that reefer would clear the bike. Might have issur with weight tho. Maybe overweight permit will help? Im in research phase now, but boss is on board with it
@@waden404 I’m working for prime but I’m switching to landstar shortly.
And what I come up with it’s moving the 5th wheel backwards 14 inches and I will have enough room for the bike but I’m guessing I can only load 30-32 k total
I have the same sleeper (ARI156), AND THE FRAME IS READY FOR THAT RACK. I HAVE BEEN KICKING MYSELF ON WHAT SORT OF rack system to put on my rig. And where do I get the unit from ?
Rampage makes the lift. Phone number is in the video. We love it.
Nice video. I want to mount this on the back of my truck but I would not know where to start would you allow me to pay you to install this for me? I have a dedicated route from California to New Jersey every week but I can always take it to you
I am a driver also of course. Ari in Shipshewana Indiana installs them I know. Other than that I am not sure where else to go. Our other video is how we installed it now. The steele frame is much better. The angle is also better as it is much easier to unload.
@@hooperandwhistle Thank you for the info
What do those 6x6s put the height of your ramp at? What do you have from ground to the top of your 6x6?
46 inchs from the ground.
@@hooperandwhistle did you have any issues getting it up there? They are telling me not to mount it over 39 and a half inches
The only issue we had was the exhaust would just barely scrape. We placed a piece of wood under real wheel when loading and unloading. We just built a whole new pedestal out of 4 inch channel. The lift now sits one inch lower and does not scrape the exhaust. Video will be up soon on new lift pedestal.
How much would you charge to install one of these on my truck?
We will have a new video with a new setup posted in the next couple days. There is a phone number in it in whi to call.
Do the smokies in the chicken coups give you a hard time about this when the give you the red?
Not at all! 😁
They make soft cotton Motorcycle covers to put under a sturdy Canvas cover.
We have a custom blanket system that covers the whole bike under the cover.
@@hooperandwhistle My Snowmobile covers come with a cotton cover for the windshield ect.. They have elastic and many tie down points.. they are designed to stay on a sled on an open trailer.. I use and enclosed trailer..
Our is called Honney Cover.
Do you know what the DOT regulations are for having a motorcycle stored on your truck? I want to do this with my bike but I can’t find anything pertaining to the law about this.
It is considered equipmemt, not part of the load, therefore it doesn't count as divisible. We have seen plenty of scale houses and never been hassled. There are a handful of people we work with that have their bikes on-board with no issues as well.
Do you tarp your bike and does it scratch your paint?
We had a custom fitted, moving blanket material, cover made for the bike and then we have a nylon Harley cover over that cover. No it doesn't scratch the paint. However, dirt still gets up in it and moisture is retained. So it requires washing everytime we unload it.
Nice where did u get the ramp?
We ordered it from Rampage Lifts. Phone number is in the video.
Do you know a place to get the frame stretch and what’s the cost for the lift kit
Thanks for the question. As for frame stretch, no I do not have personal recommendations. The lift is around 3k, the framework under the lift holding it to the frame can be custom made for 1,500 to 2k.
@@semilife594 do you know a place that will install all of it
Ari in Shipshewana Ohio will do it all. Not cheap though. @kanvas wilson tv
Unfortunately my truck doesn't have that much free space between the cab and trailer
That's a bummer. If only..huh?! 😪
This is great idea. Only concern Is if this is legal?
If attached to the truck it is not considered divisible. Yes it add weight, but that is not an issue hauling jet engines like we do. You must choose a bike that fits inside the back of the sleeper dimensions so you are not overwidth of course. Dot has never had an issue with it and always thinks it is way cool.
That is cooler than s***
how much is it?
The lift itself is around $3,800. The frame to mount it to the truck was custom built.
How much did it cost you sir ?
$1,200 for the lift used. New they are approx $3,000.
@@hooperandwhistle $1200 OK $3,000.00 time to build my own
That could be done easily, if you have a metal fab shop.
@@hooperandwhistle I do have a metal Fab Shop
@@hooperandwhistle Yes I need to look at yours take some photos and measurements.. I would buy you lunch for that.. I am near Kalamazoo MI .. I may start running Flat beds in about two months ..
No don’t use the handlebars. Use the forks between the front fairing. Not good to compress your front suspension.
We have switched to the Harley Tie-Down Brackets, after replacing the handle bar bushings.
You are speaking a foreign language to me with the instructions and supplies. Could you forward me in the right direction so I can set an appointment up to get one song I would love to travel the US with my motorcycle
In this video we show how we had a fabricator create a steel base for the mount. You will see their contact information. ruclips.net/video/gCkpxHl4g1ET/видео.htmlhe lift is a Rampage Lift, you can find out more information at www.rampagelift.com.
I know this is an older video but I’m curious. Do you think this would work on a 2019 international? As I want to go ahead and get this and install it on my truck if my company gives the go ahead. Cause right now I’m a company driver and looking for something a hell of a lot more convenient than PC. Because 1) finding a terminal nearby is not always a possible option. 2) PC doesn’t go that far lol. Plus who wants to even bobtail for PC if you can ride your bike? Lol
Howdy, the Rampage lift is made for a pickup truck bed. You can mount it on anything you want. I have roughly 65 inchs between back of sleeper and front of trailer. I have just barely enough room.
@@KGGRANTLY thank you for answering my question, I’ll definitely will be checking this out. As if my company gives the go ahead since I’m not modifying the truck in anyway.
I was able to install this both ways without drilling any new holes or welding anything to the frame.
