Great video thanks. Going that route ourselves for camping. Another thought on straps. Tank Straps around fender mounts. Bike will go nowhere and allows the bike to ride on its shocks like it should without compressing them. Do a search and see.

Awesome vid Sir . i have almost the same set-up , 2007 Harley ultra , rampage bike lift and long box pick-up . I have had my rampage about 10 years it is a awesome piece .used it in my truck to transport my bike from Ontario Canada to deep south Texas for the past 10 years minus last year due to covid . i decided to build a dedicated trailer for the lift and now i can take the car south . best investment next to the bike in my opinion . cheers , take care and safe riding . Bob

Great video, thanks, if u don’t mind a tip, when you use your soft straps to strap down at the triple tree do a loop inside the soft strap so that you have only one loop of the soft strap to hook on to, that way the metal hook of your ratchet tie down doesn’t touch the bike, only fabric material that won’t scratch your bike. Great vid again!

You could leave the tail gate at home or make a place to store it inside the pickup box..

Good for you if you like it however looks pretty sketchy, at least they should have a wheel chuck like Condor or Wheelchuck brands + tie-downs where bikes are secured a lot better.

Great video, thanks for making and sharing. I installed mine with the Rollback kit (extra $800), was quite the pain because I wanted the rollback rails to bolt inside the truck bed indentions, so it took a lot of modifications but in the end was well worth it! Works great and I DONT have to remove the tail gate. The question I have is, what is the manufacture of the soft Toruno cover you have on your truck bed?

Hello CMA!!! Always a treat to hear from another CMA Member!
The Rampage Bike Lift is a great product and it was a great solution until we could get a toy hauler. It you get a used unit, be prepared to make some modifications to the mounting 'ears' that attach to the truck bed. It's possible that they might interfere with structural members supported under the bed. It would be an easy mod but will require a welding unit. That was out experience.
We will be in Mena, Arkansas (CMA HQ) in just a few weeks. If you get out there for Colors, be sure and give us a holler! We will be in site B65 from Sept 20 through November 1st (at least)!

That's pretty much what I have in mind. I have a Grand Design 2670MK and I'm pulling it with a Ford F-250 8 ft bed 6.2 ltr gas motor. I'm looking to haul my Electraglide and this looks like the ticket. Now I just have to get my wife up to speed with the gate removal procedure.

Hi and thanks for your comment. Somehow I missed it until this evening.
Yes, removing the tailgate is a pain but not a terrible job with two people. I have toyed with ideas of a hand wince crane of some sort, but everything I have come up with so far is more trouble in total than what I have now.
      Thanks for watching!

  • @marlinh1

Thanks for the video, I'm looking to purchase one of these and have a F-350 also. Rampage has a new kit called the rollback kit that enables you to leave the tailgate on and slide the lift out over it. I'm hoping it still works because I have the tailgate like yours with the grab handle pole.

  • @randywendt5149

don't like having to remove tailgate. other models you don't have to do that as they have supports running from your trailer hitch to the back support, this eliminating any interference with the tailgate

    • @DriveToRide

Hi Julia - that truck was a 2008 Ford F-350. Your best bet is to check Rampage Bike Lifts online but i can tell you that, if you want the tailgate to close you need an 8’ (full size) truck bed. If you have a shorter truck bed, the lift will still work but it will extend over the tailgate and you can’t close it.
Also be aware that the mounting ‘ears’ on the bike lift (where the bolts go) could interfere with structural supports on the underside of the bed. This can be worked around but it complicates the install.
