I'm actually in the process of putting together my first large scale model railway setup, and ever since I heard this tune, that's exactly how I've been playing the show it off when it's all finished. Make a video where the the camera pans over a few close up shots of some locations, then have my Thomas model come puffing out of a tunnel to show off the line proper.
Probably good for a movie.

“A Very Cheeky Discovery”
This my take on Thomas if he was found abandoned after the E2s went out of service.
0:00 - Some enthusiasts finds an abandoned E2 in an old shed and try to get it steaming again.
0:28 - It puffs back into life and makes its way down track of what used to be its old branch line.
1:08 - They approach the Mainline, where they set the points.
1:16 - They start again down the Mainline. Soon they flash by stations, whistling to people, while they stand in shock and awe, marveling the old, forgotten engine as it passes.
1:41 - Some flash backs on some parts of the engine are shown of its smart blue livery, with the last flash showing it’s number.
2:00 - Last flashback of what/who the E2 really was.
Perhaps he was sitting in the shed for a few years, seeing his friends pass him by, giving sympathetic looks.
It makes no sense for the TVS or RWS cannon, but that sounds AWESOME!
My head-canon on this story. The engine found in the shed says "What?" and blinks. When steaming again, the little engine says "I'm Thomas" Making his way down his old branch line makes him very emotional so he cries*. As they approach the Mainline, Thomas asks if one of them can wipe his tears when they stop to set the points because he doesn't want anyone to see him like that on the Mainline. Then, they go along the Mainline and all the railfans old enough to remember when steam was on the Mainline before are overcome with emotion and excitement. The flash backs are those railfans' memories. *Crying engines are canon in TTTE and even the books. I read online Edward cries in the first story and there's various other times some engine cries about something, like being naughty or TV Duck about the injustice when he's sent to Edward's station for a time and Percy's teary-eyed in a DOTD scene, for example.

0:29 Camera zoom in pass Knapford into Ffarquhar branch line, pass the windmill, and there is Thomas chuffing happily along with Annie and Clarabel.
After his first day of arrival from the mainland, Thomas woke up early the next morning to be repainted at the Sodor Steamworks. He chose a bright blue with red pinstripes and then raced out to show everyone how proud he is despite very clumsy. Edward noticed that he had the number 1 painted on his tanks. To Thomas, being number 1 felt very special as Sir Topham Hat knew he had a lot to learn. There was thrills and spills, and trouble on the tracks, but after he proved himself worthy of doing responsibilities and assisting James in an accident, he now has his very own branch line and their respectful coaches, Annie and Clarabel. Nowadays, he’s the most hardworking engine despite his size and has many friends including a small green engine he’s known for years. This, is The Island of Sodor.

I think the events of Thomas’s train would make a great prologue for the Marc Forster film and even having a scene with the thin clergyman as a young boy talking to thomas and telling him he’ll go far

Annie and Clarabel laughed. “Silly Thomas!” Annie chortled. “How could a little engine like you pull all those coaches?” asked Clarabel. “Now, now, girls,” Edward said sternly, “I’m certain Thomas will do well on his first run. Little engines can do big things, after all.”
This would be perfect as the opening credits scene for a Thomas & friends movie 🎥 🍿.

This is amazing, i just discovered it looking for a nice symphony version of the tune for my wedding! Every track you have recreated is incredible. I love how this one starts, so soft, quiet and slow. I would love to hear a version where the whole piece is as slow and soft as the beginning. They should do an epic orchestral version of Duck, Donald, Douglas, Diesel or Harold's theme.
Donald and Douglas' theme should have bagpipes in them if he decides to do music from Season 2
the problem with those is that you can’t really expand on their themes, and that they are (mostly)already orchestral. a better shout would be someone like george or duncan, with simple, undeveloped themes

Henry's theme is one of my favourites and one of the ones I never forgot even after not watching the show for nearly 30 years. Love the energy in that intro riff and the earth glory and triumphant in the main chorus line.
He has the best character arc of season 1 with all shit he goes through (mostly at no fault of his own) and his theme reflects it all.

Amazing
Imagine Thomas as a drake wishing he could fly like a true dragon. So, this theme begins with him waking up to see that he had somehow grown a pair of bird-like wings (complete with feathers). Eager to try out those new appendages, Thomas goes against his carter's protests to use a takeoff platform, which is reserved specifically for true dragons (the ones with the bat-like wings). He's able to bypass traffic jams, where his fellow drakes look up in both awe and shock at the sight of him gliding through the air. Thomas' carter tells him to flap his wings in order to gain altitude, which he does. Thomas then starts doing loop-de-loops as soon as he gets higher up, after which his carter admonishes him to be careful. The theme ends with the twosome landing at a depot for pickup.

I’m with ya. For Thomas, they can either make another E2 from scratch or stretch a Jinty and extend its side tanks to match an E2’s, and have it (either the modern E2 or the heavily modified Jinty [who would have an E2 style smokebox door]) painted blue. How’s that for an idea?

I have always disagreed with the description of Thomas having a 'short stumpuly funnel and short stumpy dome' they're tall and slender! Henry and Gordon have short and stumpy funnels.
