@@trippiecion Well 7 months ago it was. Check videos around the time and you'll see Disney was much more open since they couldn't have their max capacity.
This land definitely should NOT have been retired. It was added to DCA in the first place because it originally lacked attractions for young children. Disney Imagineers need to get their act together and learn what qualifies as an unnecessary section before they start building a Marvel-themed land and claiming that [insert random attraction here] needs to be retired.
The last time I was there I was about 5 years old I’m finally returning to Disneyland on the 30th as a 23yr old and I am sad that this won’t be there. It was one core memory that I kept of Disneyland all these years
Sad to see this go. This was a major part of my life working these for almost a decade. Thought there'd be a day where I could take my little ones and show them where dad worked and met mom, but I guess not.... 😓
I’m excited to see a Marvel Land come to the US as much as the next person... but I mean what has this park become, theming wise. Clearly it has an identity crisis like its cousin park in Walt Disney World (Hollywood Studios). From the unnecessary change to Pixar Pier, to having a big Marvel Land... practically half the park is dedicated to franchises... not California. I mean I get the whole “let’s theme a park to California... in California” was a big flaw, but I feel like with the additions of Carsland and buena vista street, the park was heading in the right direction... now it just seems like a dumping ground for IPs
@@pehem1860 This area is, rightfully, referred to as "Bountiful Valley," and the bug characters should have only been used in service to that larger Bountiful Valley show. I would have preferred the pre-show to the film to have focused on agriculture in California and to the beneficial role of the insects in that process. The theatre's exterior should have been made to look like a citrus-packing house. And, I would have had Flik's Fun Fair become a "harvest fair," instead, whereby the growing of food embodied the core of the show. Each of these elements would have strengthened D.C.A., creatively speaking.
Disney's CALIFORNIA Adventure was given a new entrance that depicts Los Angeles in 1923 when Walt Disney first migrated to this place from Middle America.
I am so thankful that I finally got to experience it last year! Going to be hugely missed! I fear they are taking something more or less 'timeless' like A Bug's Life and putting something that will rapidly be dated in there once Marvel has run its course (as it will one day). Nevertheless, I hope Marvel Land does turn out great, but I think this is a bad move.
I know it has nothing to do with California Adventure, but when I was younger that didn't matter. It was always this one place were I felt was the most fun, and had some strange, unmatched atmosphere and feeling that I loved and still love today. I hope Marvel Land will be a good replacement, and I may still be able to experience it elsewere in the park
Grew up going to A Bugs Land and it was one of my family's favorite places for a rest stop. The rides were all mellow, the immersive design offered plenty of shade and seating, and the interactive water features were perfect for hot summer days. The Avengers Campus that took its place is exposed, flat concrete with a stale surrounding environment. Given the decline in Marvel popularity lately and success of Pixar Pier, I hope there's been some conversations in executives' offices kicking themselves for tearing down this unique gem.
In 2002 & 2018 we all miss you guys filk fun fair it was awesome when I was little boy maybe 8 year older in Disney California adventure park 😥😪😥😪😥good bye a bugs land I'll miss you
There has been a post about what shall be in the land for marvel, an AntMan microbrewery was announced, so sadly the children's water area is highly unlikely
Even as somebody who loves MCU, I’m sad the Bugs Land is gone! Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train was my favorite in the land. Don’t get me wrong I love avengers campus but you can’t beat this…🥺
I feel Marvel Land as just a rock in our way, I mean its cool but Disney basically just eliminated the remainder of small kid friendly attractions in that area. Although I like how Disney will make up for it with Jessie's Critter Carousel and Emotional Whirlwind at Pixar Pier which are kid friendly attractions. But that's not coming until 2019... Better or worse :/ Like if you agree with me Reply if you feel a different way of have a further explanation to me comment Thanks :)
There is still the Silly simphony swings, goofy's sky school, jumping jellyfish and the golden zephyr in paradise park. But yeah there aren't any other attractions as tame as Heimlich
I mean this isn't a ride, but one of the best kid-friendly areas in the entire resort is the redwood creak challenge in front of the Grand Californian. Unless the re-theme Grizzly peak and the Hotel that shouldn't go anywere
well I would partly consider Emotional Whirlwind a new attraction since it's being moved from A Bug's Land to Pixar Pier with an entirely new design and theme around it. It will barely be noticeable.
Besides whats the point of Marvel Land? Are they just going to retheme and paint all the areas of A Bug's Land? If they do, Disney has both major problems with laziness or that they just lost probably 1/5 of all the people who come to Disney California Adventure before Marvel Land was being built.
As a huge marvel and avengers fan I hate to say I liked bigs land batter it just gave off such a nice and refreshing vibe. The best ride a avengers is mission breakout and technically that is a part of Hollywood
Not to say that I'm not sad about the lose of such a beautiful land, but, c'mon, you have to admit that him/her panning across in an empty world while crickets are chirping is hilarious.
I sure hope that Flik will still make a character appearance soon enough at Pixar Pier otherwise it wouldn't be the same without him for he and the bugs are a part of the fandom/franchise so it would be terrible to deny their existence as if they were nothing. Why couldn't the park still stay until next year and then coexist with Marvel Land? It's just not fair!
I don't care about the bugs land but I did love the bugs life 3d show. Are they getting rid of that too ?? They also sold really good green apple flavored cotton candy there haha.
Every time we would go to Disney my mom would take a picture of my siblings and I ever since we were little on the flik flyers ride , too bad that tradition is gone :(
Technically speaking Francis' was made by Zamperla, but mater's is by someone else and it's a different model. You can tell by the semi circlular plates on the floor and the fact it's only a figure 8.

wow a sad year for Both Disneyland and Universal considering they have to say goodbye for Disneyland is Bug's land and for Universal it's Jurassic park
ABL is like the red-haired stepchild of the Pixar films. Why, I have no idea. Pixar fans either loathe it, are indifferent to it, or forget it exists altogether. Even the company seems to forget it exists, or pretends it doesn't...
Considered that the movie is now 20 years old and Disney has done nothing to celebrate that or has done anything for the series since then they aren't going to build another area just fir this movie. More likely do a Zootopia area instead.
This area of CA adventure was part of my life growing up as a kid with an annual pass 😢 So many memories of playing here with my friends and family!
R. I. P. Bugs land, I wish you could stay around for longer. 2002-2018 :’(
Only 16 years of age. It died only just a baby still! Sadness....
I was born in 2002 and I'm still 16
it’s been so long , i remember it when i was younher
Ya the last time I’ve been to disneyland when bugs life was still here was in 2015 😢
@@flossonthem my original comment is from 5 years ago 😭😭😭
i absolutely loved the watermelon mist they had there on that ride, it was most memorable for me as a kid when i went in 2010
this place is my childhood. i’ll forever miss walking through the entrance and get the atmosphere of being a bug. RIP BUGSLAND
Rip bugs land you will be missed dearly
right
I won’t miss it
Thank you for recording this before they tore it down this was one of my absolute favorite parts of Disneyland and I’m so sad they got rid of it :(
oh no! Took my kids for the first time last month and they loved this! It was so perfect for kids with sensory problems
This was my favorite part of california adventure as a kid. Rest in power

Well with the pandemic it can get rather chill later in the day.

I still remember those spiders that come down when your inside a theater that was about bug life, like if you've been there.
And the sneezing bug and the moving seats at the end of the show
I hated that show so much
Me and my mom been there many years ago and watched the show. We loved it. Great times those were.
scared the crap out of me when i was a small child XD
I still feel scared in theaters for the spiders to come down🤣
Beautiful footage. Thanks for one last, loving look.

You'd expect them to keep the IPs at least in the realm of California. Carsland made a lot of sense because it takes place in a fictional Route 66.
D.C.A. has become an even bigger monstrosity than the place was when it first opened.
