He loves tilting his head and staring Into our souls like that. I wouldn't change a single thing about this song and video. I think it's absolutely perfect. It's even more perfect, cause I got the feeling that Taemin at this point showed us his whole self - he even showed his real tattoos although he was hiding them from us for more than a year. He basically granted us all our wishes - tattoos - check, crop top - check, rap - check, playing piano - check, long hair - check! I love him as an artist, there's no one else like him. My forever artistic crush. I'll wait for his comeback and for him to show us his new, more mature chapter!
As always I loved your reaction :) As to the split personality, this is my take on it, which doesn't have to be right ;) The song is a response to the hate comments that celebrities have to deal with ("flop", "loser" etc.). He is talking about the people who are ready to point all his mistakes for the sake of drama. He even mentions people who criticize him for tattooing ("destroying") his torso, because it made it harder for them to drool over his body. So one side of his personality is this confident public persona that disses all the haters, pretends that he doesn't care about their comments. There is however his inner self, safely locked with the key, that is more vulnerable and gets hurt ("Without even knowing the reason My heart gets less saturated again"). Also images of riding fast in a car and then crashing are similar to his "Famous" MV, which was also about pressures of fame.
About the white outfit, the cropped top (underneath the sweater) is definitely women's wear. Taemin rocks any kind of outfit, and he's spoken about challenging gender stereotypes through fashion and dance in his art a lot. His look has always been very androgynous, and he really started to use it to his advantage from MOVE onwards. Great video analysis btw!
Great reaction! As a psychologist I would say he's not trying to show a split personality. I believe his whole videography simply states "You can't put me in a box". He's the angel, Lucifer, The criminal, the victim, the gender defiant artist, but he's also a devout catholic, a perfectionist and a very smart well cultured man, and it translates so clearly and beautifully in all his work.
Taemin just always leaves me breathless! And you're totally right! He always has that 'split personality' type thing in most his videos. I think its his battle between figuring out his identity since he started being in the public eye at such a young age. Like his "star/idol" image and his ego vs who he really is. Probably the dark egotistical perfectionist version of himself vs the "human" who makes mistakes, has ups and downs and less manufactured. Like when you're a celebrity and specifically talking about kpop, Idols are really held to these unrealistic standards of perfection they have to meet under their company and the public eye/fans. I feel like it's something that eats you up and you really have this inner battle of who others want you to be vs who you want to be/are. I feel like maybe this song might be speaking about him not letting others control him anymore and basically making his own decisions, since he was probably influenced so much throughout his life by those around him since he started at such a young age. These are the people that help build who he is today. But I think he's trying to piece by piece what was taught and who he is. I would just like to add that the director for Advice said that Taemin is so dedicated to his art that he even (with permission of course) went to the director's house to hand-pick the scenes for the mv and even edited some of it himself. I've dabbed in video production a bit (I haven't done it in years though) so it's always nice to see reactions from that point of view. As for Advice, I really loved it, both the music and the video. It shows that you can do something amazing with limited time and budget given the right talent and the right team. It's actually quite astounding how consistent in quality Taemin's releases have been - he keeps upping the game every time. I will keep an eye out for your future reactions!
Waiting for this! You are not looking too deep into his MVs, they are just built like that. Yep, he seems to always portray an innocent and a villain/criminal side in his MVs. for ADVICE, we believe that the concept is chess. The hook/chorus part of the choreo where he is interlocking his fingers seems to portray the QUEEN from the chess scene of Harry Potter, showing that he is the QUEEN piece of chess, the most powerful one. Which is why he seems to be commanding and controlling his backup dancers in some parts, and the Black and White colors. Also, you'll notice that SHINee has a tint of subtle green lights with most of their solo/group MVs because that is SHINee's color (Teal/Aqua Green).
Taemin said the part where he interlocks his fingers represents the people talking so I don't know if it has anything to do with the queen but it could have double meaning.

17:17 There's actually a lot of thought in all the moves he repeats in his MVs he always has a reason whether it's to create a feeling or just for vain reasons meaning he thinks he looks better with certain poses or hides an insecurity of his. I really think that we've seen a masterpiece. It was a piece of art. Taemin gave us his best work, before the day he should leave. And we got it. In every little second of this MV I see the great job he did. Every step, every movement was incredible. He did a lot for making this video wonderful. And I wanna stand up an give my applause to him.

This is a hypothesis but I think this video is related to "Press your number" because of the car accident, the colors and the story of two different versions of Taemin (and how one ends up imposing on the other) Hope you can see the VCRs from their recent show "Beyond live". One is out now on the Shinee channel and has a futuristic vibe. Also on these days there will be a video of Taemin's Studio Choom, where his choreography will be better seen.

You need to really pay attention to the video or know the lyrics to understand the true meaning of the scenario. There’s no double personality here, though he is struggling and trying to get away from someone who has him trapped. He tells us that even though that person wants to trap/own him, that person never really traps/owns him because he’s not there willingly. In the video, you see the different stages of his “ life.” Free and owning the stage wearing the black/white suit. Then he’s trapped in that small world/room, and then he runs away in that car and eventually crashes. He basically tells us that he rather die than being with that person trapped. At the end, you see him outside the car, free with open arms.
