I adored it honestly. I think people who didnt might not have an appreciation for atmosphere and storytelling. This isnt a "horror" game in the traditional sense. Its one nightmare which makes it amazing. And honestly? I did get spooked a bunch of times lol so well worth the playthrough. Through the first half of the game i was walking incredibly slow, fearful of everything. That fell off a bit when i realized that there wouldnt be tons of scares but the atmosphere more than made up for it. The most beautiful part was in No Man's Land with the gas. The artillery going off in the distance, the wind blowing through the barbed wire. Chefs kiss.
I think it could’ve used more active scary elements in the manner parts but the fact that the story is of a deeply traumatized family nothing is actually trying to hurt they player is nice
I mean it's psychological horror not meant to be a jump scare type game the voices, calls, withering home and apparitions are all meant to play on the mind not to be cliché or horror film like
you didn't play this game. you stopped at the first third of it and gave your verdict. i do not respect that, as the game gets not only more intense, but its story gets better as well later on.
@@dontmatter4423 Agreed. I was never a fan of the other games and hate the just run and hide concept of gameplay. This uses weapons and gear in a clever manner which is still intense and restricted.
Besides this and Conscript...what are some others? It sounds like a really neat setting for horror but those two were the only ones I heard of. And, for me, Conscript doesn't really scratch the horror itch since using the war itself as the horror.
You should probably learn how to say the phrase 'ad infinitum' before you review a game based on that phrase, lest you come across as a bit of a spanner.
@oliverwilliam6931 if you don't understand the concept of a game based around story driven psychological horror then you should go play something else this game is meant to show what vets remember war as not your Romanticized glory and honor always action packed type shit
There are so many mediocre games in this style in the market, i wonder what made you guys decide to give this one a full review if its just another unremarkable game on the pile?
The writing, story, and VA work put this above most of those others. This game has obvious care and thought in it, just not quite the game dev skills to do that justice

That weapon POV FOV lol. Goofy long Slenderman arms
Haha finally I can self insert...
and yet it's more realistic than 99% of all fps out there

what is with the beef jerky arm?
Why aren't you showing the things you're talking about? Isn't that why it would be a video instead of just an article to read?
Blown away by the story in this game I really liked it. It is janky but I like a good creepy story and this nailed it.
You guy's don't understand why this game was made. It's to show what those soldiers went through.
The reviewer is completely aware of that. They say so multiple times through the video

Yes lousy review
This just makes me want to go play Amnesia : Bunker again.
While I preferred Rebirth, I will agree that Bunker had a scary setting
Bunker is a fantastic game. One of this year's best imo
Bunker is actually the best in the series and probably the best in its genre, bc it has good gameplay

a decent amount of ww1 horror games coming out ngl i’m rockin with the genre so far

Is this game similar to layers of fear where it's all psychological and no danger?
Is this coming to ps4?
no only SeriesSX / PS5 / PC
This game appears inspired by the WWI horror film Deathwatch.

This game is so underrated

It is not a shooter but a psychological horror. I am glad it is not a shooter, it would have been boring.
