    I'm french and in France we don't say "enchanté de te RENCONTER" all the time, we just say "enchanté" thats all. Of course if you say all the sentence its good, its more polite, but you can just say "enchanté". Nobody will blaming you for that. its too cute when a foreign try to speak french XO (sorry if my english is bad) ;-)

    How important is the accent? When speaking should I try to use a French accent or my own Southern Virginia twang? I ask because I want to speak French properly without sounding like I'm doing a parody of it.

    • @santircastillo
      @santircastillo 9 лет назад +2

      @frenchpod101  9 лет назад +5

      Shaun Dent Bonjour Shaun !
      It's a good question !
      If you are a beginner, do not fake a french accent.
      Try to pronounce correctly the words without your own accent from Southern Virginia.
      Try to be as neutral as possible !
      Good luck !

      +Learn French with FrenchPod101.com Really? I find that my French sounds NOTHING like proper French, and some of the sounds in French aren't really used the same in American, so at least using a Virginian accent, it seems to sound terrible. Maybe that's just my way of learning, but I find that trying to speak a language without the accent is more fake than trying to fake an accent. But that might just be me...

    @Non-French girls: First meeting we shake hands, but after that don't be surprised if someone (boy or girl) wants to give you a kiss on both cheeks when they meet you again or before they leave. We are very "kiss on the cheek" here in France :D - Ps: If the kiss is too slobbery, you may want to run away! lol

      Murderous Ann Learning to speak Estonian actually really helped me say the R's correctly, so I don't know many try learning another language where they sorta exaggerate their R's or learn how to properly say the Alphabet, I'm currently studying multiple languages at the moment and I always learn the alphabet and how to say each letter first,bit makes your pronunciation a lot easier
