Chris, I enjoy the hell out of your channel and product reviews! I'm a military contractor, currently at a base called Air Base 101 in Niamey, Niger. I recently purchased a portable net which I set up in our hanger, complete w/ painted hashed floor markings. And I hand carried a few old paddles of mine and was excited to use a haste, last minute Gearbox CP7 from Dicks Sporting Goods here, which I have been fairly disappointed with. Next week hopefully, I return to SoFlo after a very long rotation here and I have a Vatic Pro Prism Flash 16mm and a Volair Mach 1 waiting on the table which I can't wait to play! At any rate, I greatly appreciate your insights on different paddles and gear! Keep up the great work!!!

And the wife has very painful Plantar Fasciitis. Did you have surgery to repair it, or how do you cope?

    • @PickleballStudio

      Glad you’re enjoying the content!
For plantar there’s two primary things I recommend:
      1. Buy a Graston scraping tool from Amazon. It’s just a little blade that you scrape that button of your foot with. Put some oil on so the blade can glide. Do this for 3-5 min. It’s going to hurt, but it breaks up the scar tissue. This was the ONLY thing that made significant progress.
      2. Consider different shoes or orthotics. My pain was so severe and switching to the Head Revolt 4.0 made a huge difference. That’s why I like them so much even if they aren’t the most durable shoe on the market. I never want to deal with that pain again.
      3. Consider going to a sports chiropractor and see if they offer anything for plantar. I went to one that basically did the Graston technique with their hand. I did that 3 times and it helped a lot before I realized I could probably do the scraping myself.
      4. Pickup a pair of Oofos recovery slides for the house. It makes walking around much more bearable.
      Hope that helps!

I use the cheaper Amazon erasers - I cut them into bag friendly slices with a serrated bread knife. For best results, cut until you get halfway through the brick, and flip it over starting from the other outside edge.

Fence clips are overrated. Just use a carabiner instead which can also be used to attach things to the outside of the bag.

I am using the ZUCA Pickleball bag that has wheels and I can sit on, so I do not have to bring a chair. Also, I purchased the rain cover for the bag to keep my equipment dry, because my area gets 90 to over 100 inches of rain per year.

Perfect timing since CRBN just released their Tour Bag 2.0 yesterday. Not sure if I'll use the sling bag capability for anything, but I wanted the original anyways. Already placed my order.

Ditto on the SixZero DBD 16mm ... can't put it down, and also have lead on the throat/bottom edges for a bit more stability and plow through. Swing weight is still manageable with lead lower like that, I've attempted putting it up high and it got too head heavy for my taste

I got the original Diadem bag. It is very similar to the CRBN without the insulation part. Nice bag to have. For paddles, my go-to have become the OYA Phantom Max (I was a former tennis player and likes my 2-handed backhand), Legacy Pro and Vatic Pro Flash Prism. I might suggest you to put some physio elastics in the bag as you can use them to warm up your legs or arms.

Almost similar setup in my bag: Black Diamond Power, Gearbox Pro Power Fusion, Selkirk Labs Project 002 Invikta (or sometimes 003 Epic). Back-up Paddles are CRBN 2x and Engage Pro MX 14mm. Bag is the Joola Vision 2... great bag but that CRBN one looks tempting... LOL.

Ha... Chris... your comment about your Head Revolts wearing out in the top right, that's exactly where I wear out my Head Revolts. Great shoe, but that spot needs some durability work I guess. I wore through 2 pair and decided to try the Babalot Jet Tere to see how those would hold up. Love that shoe. Super comfy and breathable, and the durability of the outsole seems to be much better. Also bought the Babalot Mach III... but have yet to wear them. (got a really good deal on them so I bought them as well)
    My gear... if anyone cares...
    - Engage Team bag, black/silver (got it 50% off as they were clearing out inventory I guess)... with a fence hook. Love the insulated bag compartment. Can fit 3 paddles in there with paddle covers. Real good bag. But curious about 6.0's new bag coming out.
    Paddles:
    - 6.0 DBD 16mm
    - 6.0 DBD Infinity
    - A few Franklin X-40 balls
    - A few cheap indoor balls (gross)
    - Babalot Jet Tere shoes (I prefer to just wear my court shoes on the court, and change back into clean dry shoes/slides after playing)
    - Large Gatorade Towel
    - A couple microfiber hand towels (these have loops on one corner and I have a cheap carabiner and clip it to the fence behind the baseline and tap dry my paddle handle a few times during a game in the heat)
    - Gearbox protective glasses (blue tinted... don't like the blue tint for indoors, have a clear pair on order). I'm the same as Chris here... trying to start wearing eye protection more... but it's hard to get used to indoors. Outdoors is easy if it's sunny, just wear sunglasses.
    - Tifosi rose-tinted non-polarized sunglasses (love these)
    - Ziploc bag with sunscreen, head bands, wrist bands... as well as band-aids, ace bandage, ankle support wrap, wrist support wrap (just in case)
    - Small bag for paddle repair (overwraps (alien pro, mega tac, UDrippin, Head), white 3/4" electrical tape, small scissors, pre-cut lead tape pieces)
    - Protein bars/snack bars
    - Tripod
    - Go Pro Hero Black 6
    - Gum
    - Roped sling bag to hold a change of clothes
Not in my bag, but I have a large, black, 64oz Takeya water bottle with the insulating jacket & strap. Love that thing.

That small pouch is where I keep my speaker and safety glasses case. They fit perfectly and it’s one of the reasons I went with this bag over another I looked at. I carry my paddles in the middle and balls, grips, head and wrist bands in smaller bags on one side, knee braces, ankle wrap, etc in larger bags in the other side.

In terms of truly helpful pickleball videos, you're in a class by yourself. So thank you for all that you do for the game and for us pickleball addicts. I've just been using a backpack to keep my stuff in, which has been fine, but now I'm thinking I'll invest in a better bag more suited to the game. I store all the same stuff, but I'm wondering how much stock do you put in paddle covers? Necessary or is it a waste of money? Seems to make sense to have something to protect the paddle face when not using it, but not sure whether to splurge on the additional accessory. Anyway, cheers, and kick butt in the tournament!

    • @PickleballStudio
      @PickleballStudio  9 месяцев назад +1

For me personally, I really don't like paddle covers. They make it harder to fit the paddles in my bag (Keep in mind, I frequently have 4-5 paddles in a bag on a given day. If you have 1-2, not an issue).
I find the extra step of taking it in and out of my bag then unzipping it to be really annoying. My thought is that the paddle isn't getting abused in my bag, so I don't think I need the extra protection.
Nothing wrong with using it though!
      Thanks for supporting the content.

Chris how do I clean my Selkirk Air paddles? We play outside a lot and there is a lot of dust on the courts we play at so I get a lot of black hole dirt marks all over my paddle. I mistakenly used wet tissues to clean my paddlea and im pretty sure it erased most of the grit lmao. I want to care for my other paddle better but I just wish I could get rid of those hideous black ball marks. Appreciate any advice you could give, if there even is a solution.

I can also confirm that the Head 4.0 Revolts do help mitigate plantar fasciitis! I've dealt with it off and on for about 12 months now and after getting a pair of the Head shoes in early August it has decreased significantly. @pickleballstudio any idea what is up with the Head 4.0's being mainly out of stock almost everywhere? Are they clearing existing inventory prior to a new release or just dealing with supply chain issues? I'm loving my 16mm DBD in cherry blossom too! Great video as always, I'm looking for a new bag and this one may cover all my needs without breaking the piggy bank. :)
