Great video. I use a 1 once Slyce. It doesn’t work with all paddles. I recommend checking your paddles balance point before purchasing. If the paddle has a low balance point I wouldn’t recommend Slyce. Standard or widebody paddles don’t benefit from it at all. Most Hybrid and Elongated paddles benefit from a 1 once. It ultimately comes down to personal preference and playing style. When I use the 1 once speed cap I also typically use 3 grams of tungsten tape at the 4&8 o’clock position or just below the balance point with the speed cap. I thought about the tungsten tape versus the speed cap. If you want 1 once at the but you would need 28 inches of tungsten tape. I just thought that would alter the grip profile too much and possibly negate any benefit from the extra weight. If you’re adding it needs to yield a benefit to your game. I like the cap it increases some key needs on elongated and hybrid paddles.

Thank you so much for watching! You make an excellent point both about the low balance point paddles not needing the slyce cap and needing a lot of tungsten tape to get to 1 oz. I did not think about that! Thank you for your comment

@@GearUpPickleball IMO the Slyce cap falls into the fringe space in pickleball…it’s gaining traction thought so it will be interesting to see how it develops. I often see players arbitrarily add weight to their paddles with no thought to expected outcome. Slyce cap is a very specific, deliberate, and quality weight gain to the paddle. It’s roughly a 12.5% on average static weight gain.

I think the best use case for this is pro players who go through paddles super quickly so maybe they have 2 or 3 speedcaps and when setting up a new paddle they just transfer it over to the next one

Just FYI, most people who hold the grip low (with the pinky almost falling off) like a flared butt cap.

I feel like you are talking yourself out of using it bc of the wrist and arm fatigue you were experiencing

I actually enjoyed using it, I just noticed the fatigue. The main thing for me is the pricing along with the extra materials still needed in order to install the end cap on your paddle. I forgot to mention this in the video but you need extra tape to help secure the end cap at the bottom of your paddle and if your paddle has staples or glue securing your normal end cap, you need to remove that as well. And with talking with other people using the end cap they also found installation tedious as well. You also need to make sure you like it because it is difficult to put the factory end cap back on if you don’t. For something that starts at $29.95 and can get up to $47.95 before tax I would personally expect everything I need to install to come with the end cap. Thank you for watching the video!! 😊

Hammer "head" not "point" and the plastic is "delrin" not "derlin".

I thought it made your hands faster with a high swingweight paddle, not slower.

So it feels lighter in your hands just holding it but the overall weight goes up. Although I got more plow through on the ball, it doesn’t necessarily make your hands faster at least in my experience with it. It just balances the paddle out so you hit that sweet spot more and it felt easier to hold the paddle level

How do I take my current cap off 😢

It tends to differ from paddle to paddle on the ease/difficulty it is to take off the end cap. What current paddle do you use?
For any paddle you will need to remove all grips including the stock grip to expose the handle. Then you will need to use a flat head screwdriver, staple remover, or something you can get good leverage with to remove any staples or glue to remove the current end cap. Finally, you will put the slyce end cap onto the end of the paddle and will use some athletic tape/electrical tape on the sides of it to keep it in place and then wrap a new grip around it to complete the process! Thanks for watching and I hope this was helpful!
