I thought the overworld was generally* rather boring to explore and felt weirdly unfinished in parts (and this is coming from someone who loved the exploration in the base game), but that the actual meat of the game--the bosses, dungeons, minidungeons, NPC quests, weapons, etc.--were exceptional. The bosses in particular were a real highlight for me. *The Ancient Ruins of Rauh is probably my favorite overworld area in the entire game. I hope they do more with this half dungeon/half open-world concept in the future.
I'm just starting the dlc finally. A whole thing with starting ng+ and not getting to where I needed 😂 but for me so far the biggest issue is the small to no windows for me to do anything with some of the bosses. I did take a long time off the game so maybe I just need to get back in a rhythm with it, but it seems like they massively over tuned the aggression on some of them because of the blessings.
I am constantly getting distracted by entering a dungeon and thinking, "Wow, this looks just like Stormveil/Raya Lucaria/etc" -- reused assets I understand, to a point, but when the layout is also reused? Distracting and knocks me out of the immersion.
it was really good, but many a fan had been saying it was the best dlc ever and thats absolutely cap, the new map was great, excellent interwoven design as usual, but there are some areas like charo`s hidden grave that are absolutely empty, the new enemies are mostly really good fun, barring the furnace gollems, actuall garbage those ones, the bosses are some of the coolest in fromsofts history, Bale is peak dragon imho, but radahn is a huge letdown both for the fact that we fight him again and because of his lame implications for the lore. Every side story was so neatly tied up, except for the miquella one, they really fumbled it, the catacombs really felt like they where teasing some godwyn lore but it felt like scraps form a cut storyline, it absolutely feels cut mid development. it still was among the best DLC`s ive ever played, id say its my 4th or 5th favourite DLC, aint no one topping Blood and wine though, ever.
or mayhaps your a blinded hater. Mid is crazy with the sheer content. even acknowledging the empty areas, there's phenomenal legacy dungeons like shadow keep. and Midra, Bayle, Rellana, messmer, divine lion beast are all high quality boss fights not lacking compared to previous dlc bosses from past games. Unless your going to universally hate on the other dlc's from other fromsoft games. Sure say its not a masterpiece. but mid is just delusion
I'd call it a bit above average as a whole, like a 6/10. 7/10 at max if your feeling generous. It has amazing highs, especially Bosses. But so much bad stuff too, sadly.
Everything was perfect imo except for some of the boss and area design which was also the only complaint I had with the base game. I always find I have the most fun with souls games when I just relax and take my time to enjoy exploring the world instead of having a goal to achieve. It feels super nice when you go to the next area knowing you've searched the entirety of the previous so you know you missed nothing. Areas like the Abyssal Woods though are nothing but a pain. I get that it's spooky and it has lore behind it and thats fine, but its wayy too big to expect us to explore the whole thing without Torrent and there be LITERALLY NOTHING besides Midra's mansion in the corner. The Finger Ruins also are a bit lackluster, especially the one at the top of the map since it's so big, but at least their really interesting visually and you can still use Torrent. As long as its appealing to the eye I think you can get away with a pretty empty area. The base game also had a problem with that with the Mountaintops of the Giants and Consecrated Snowfield. Bosses overall I thought varied WIDELY in quality. I think the way they made a lot of the bosses difficult just made them not as fun. Radahn being a prime example. Half of his second phase is the same shit as the first except now you can't see shit because of Miquella's big ass hair and pillars of light flashbanging you every 5 seconds. Bayle, Senessax and Divine Beast Dancing Lion also had terrible cameras and lock on locations. Midra and Messmer though were absolutely amazing, both are in my top 5 favorite bosses in the game now.
I haven't seen the video yet but no, it wasn't good...it was AMAZING. Anyone who thinks the DLC wasn't good has no idea about game design.

I think for most W3 fans it's going to be hard for anything to ever top Blood and Wine.
the DLC was mid at best, and anyone who says otherwise is a blind Fromsoft fanboy

Radahn's second phase almost obliterated my GPU with all of its particle effects.
@@BonfireBasics fr i had stuttering and shading problems throughout the whole game after the dlc came out.
