  • I had to remove the flex pipe, and the cat along with it because the bolts holding the flex pipe to the cat were decayed. It was rough, just ask if you have any questions. Subscribe and Thanks!

    What's the point of making a video with so little light that we can't see anything?

      Sometimes videos with the general idea of how to get it out is far more helpful than having to retain to much useless information.

    Currently going through the same issues! The one bolt on the bottom was definitely a huge challenge . Very poor design for accessibility. Had to cut several pieces just to get it out. Now trying to install new pieces with even more problems...ugh.

    Im replacing the flex pipe on my 1.8t Passat and i had to take out the whole cat/pipe in order to do so as you mentioned. Am I going crazy or did they weld the cat to the downpipe? To me it looks like they bolted it on with nuts and bolts and then welded them onto the parts somehow. ive never seen rust merge things in this fashion, i used about every tool and every penetrating fluid i had but i ultimately had to break out the angle grinder and cut them loose. When i cut them off, it seemed like further evidence that the bolts were welded. I am really starting to hate these engineers

    Really wanted to see the proper method of removing the exhaust. You can get anything out if you cut it out but I'm not doing that to my neuspeed catback to install in my other B5 😑

      You don't need to cut anything. Just remove the airbox and disconnect the o2's and the 3 nuts, then go under the car and remove the dampener bolt (the bolt with a spring below the flex pipe) and loosen the pipe connector. If your bolts are seized/stuck then you'll have to cut them (cat to flex in my case). I live in Maine however and cars here do not fair well. You might have better luck. Hope this helps.

      Me neither I watched this to watch him remove everything but the cat. Least he tried he got it done for how he needed I suppose. I'm installing a new test pipe cutting is not a option.
      I may post a vid of my own

      @@ChristopherCameronAudiRepair thanks that helps me a great deal. Idk why I hadn't thought of that. If I'm going cut anything it will be further back. I'm in Maine also. Summer is in full spring got our last snow this year on may 17. Got to get this done. Lol

    So, how did it go, did the new pipe fit and did you get it down in a smooth way?

    Manual or Automatic? I suspect manual for you seem to have a lot more room that I am having with an automatic.

    Is he holding his nose while he is talking or what. Omg. He was thinking about hitting them with a PB. Blaster. Lol.
    Worried it will smoke. Rather risk stripping the nuts instead of a half a sec of pb smoke. Which I've never seen ..oh new gasket. Lol is this guy for real. This showed me nothing at all. Seriesly brah ya need a little work on the videos. I have to give you a a for attempting it anyway.
    Thanks for the entertainment..I wanted to know how you disconnected the rear of the cat. You did get it done tho. Good job mate.
    I can't cut mine tho so aside from entertainment idk. Can't say it did much to help my situation.
    I'm not slamming your video brah I'm sure it's helped someone. Thanks. Keep em coming. Something is better than nothing
    Peace.

    • @ChristopherCameronAudiRepair
      @ChristopherCameronAudiRepair  4 года назад

      You can send in the ecu to get cat delete. But I wouldn't cause it'll probably throw more codes at you. 1.8t cats are the easiest to replace in my experiences

    I don't have a damn $18ea Sawzall blades anyway it would also be nice to have the option to replace the cat when using test pipe because they don't last really long.thx though I have to remove the cylinder head so I shouldn't have to cut off the damn thing so your video wasn't a complete waste of time.

    • @ChristopherCameronAudiRepair
      @ChristopherCameronAudiRepair  6 лет назад +2

      This is for removing a catalytic converter man. Not a cylinder head. Wtf are you talking about.

      I said I have to change the head anyway and will just do it because your video really isn't much help so I decided to spend another 6k on the head and turbo so I can see it myself

    This video sucks! You can't see anything & the camera being upside down doesn't help.
