Hello. Thank you for the video! I have a Dell D620 that I use for remote work. Sometimes, when I manage the laptop with just one hand, it´s turn off alone. Seems something related to "flexibility" of it´s chassis. Maybe some connection at motherboard came loose. Did you face something similar? Do you know where is the deffect in the mother board? I already raplaced the motherboard for a new one some years ago and same problem is happening after long usage. Seems a "fadigue" problem that will always appear after some usage period.

Got a Latitude D620 with a peculiar issue. Laptop turns on and POSTs, but if I press F2 the "preparing to enter setup" message appears, the screen goes black the way yours does, but the BIOS configuration screen never appears, the same happens when I press F12. The message for the boot device menu appears, the screen goes black, and stays that way, no boot device menu. Letting it try to boot of the HDD (known good, partitioned as mbr, Linux distro installed) gets the same issue (screen goes black when it should, stays that way). Is the issue a corrupted BIOS flash? Or a dead mainboard?

The actual BIOS-File provided by DELL is corrupted. You have to use an old one from the internet, what truely is hard to find. Even if you have an old one, you had to execute them and quits the prompt with "yes". After that you will become an error-message similar to the one with the corrupted bios-file, but after a reboot you finally had the A19-BIOS running. I had tested this on three D630-Notebooks with A17-BIOS and it works perfectly. If you need a link to old A19-BIOS let me know.

@@NervousNick In late 2013 Dell changed the check sum precision from 128 bit to 256 bit, and the BIOS executable does like the change in file size that it caused (they did it to all their files). So you have to find a copy of the bios that was downloaded before mid 2013. It took some googling but I eventually found it. and saved the correct copy of the file. I had won a storage unit auction with a stack of Dell Latitude D620, D630, D830. and another stack of Dell Precision T3500 workstations.

Hi! Thanks for the Vid....Suscribed! The bios you installed is dated 16 July 2013 which seems to work. The latest, updated A19 bios from Dell's support site is dated 08 Jun 2020, which seems to be corrupted and gives errors. Dell has been no help. Looked everywhere for the 16 July 2013 bios and can't find it anywhere. If by any chance you happen to still have the D630_A19.exe 16 July 2013 Bios installation file, people might be willing to pay you for it if you create a download link for it. Thanks for the vid once again. I now know the reason I couldn't get the updated bios to install through Windows or Dos.
