I don't have a horse but l get my riding experiences vicariously through you and Tonik, Monty. Tonik is such a credit to you, I have been following since around the time you got him. Your calm demeanor and quiet riding style has rubbed off on him as he appears such a laid-back, well behaved horse, and it is very easy to forget how young and relatively inexperienced he still is, although he gives the impression that he is an old pro at this job.
I have two myself. I had originally started out by taking care of one horse, two ponies, and I owned a horse myself. One of the two ponies is a half Welsh named Quiniqui (pronounced Kwee knee Key) who’s owner went into the services and left him in my care for 14 years. He is 13.2 hands, and actually was one of the best barrel racing mounts that I have ever had. Though he be little, he be quick. In his prime, that little half welsh could run 15 seconds on the pattern. He was given to me after 14 years of caring for him and competing on him. His owner realized she was not going to be in a place to take him. He is 20 now. The other pony is a colonial horse that stands 14 hands, and was mine when I was a child. He is 30 years old now, and belongs to my mother. His name is Tornado. Then I have my mother’s quarter horse, that I also take care of, who is named Sueño. He is a year older than Tonic and 15.1 hands. Last, but not least, is the horse that this account is actually for. Captain is the same age as Tonic, and is 15.1 hands. The reason why I chose to make an account for him using his registered name is because he survived a brain eating protozoa, that in 20 years of riding and working with horses, I had known four horses that had had that protozoa, and none of them survived. Captain was diagnosed by a veterinarian at two years old, and ended up, losing the use of his back legs during the time that we fought to save his life. I lost count of how many riders told me to let them come out and put a bullet in his head, because he was a lost cause to fight for. A large part of the reason why I have his Instagram account, and his RUclips page, is because I want other riders who encounter the same disease to see that not only is it possible to save your horse if you catch that disease early on, but that a horse can go on to have a very good career after having had neurological damage from that disease. I am greatly enjoying watching your videos. Keep up the good work!
I'm disabled now, don't currently have a horse so I ride with you and Tonic. I learned the most from my horses Jack, Ripley and Rosie. Please keep posting, your videos are therapy to my soul.
My situation is similar to yours, following here helps diminish the ache of missing it, from thorns and mud, to flying along with new friends and old, for whom it it is as necessary as breathing.
My horse’s name is Ollie! Im a western rider, but have always liked jumping over ditches and small jumps just for fun. I love watching people jump so much
Excellent video - one of your best! This video really takes the viewer through the entire experience. The preparation, travel and overnight arrangements for horses and riders are so important. I find this video real, raw, yet refined, refreshing and rugged, especially rugged on the moorlands! Simply beautiful! Thank you again for sharing and letting us into your world of trail hunting. Many will not comment or like, but they are smiling while watching this video! Never underestimate the positive impact you are having. Thank you Monty.
My horses name is Arabus. He is a 19-year-old Arabian. We don’t hunt or jump, but we do 50 mile endurance races. I love watching your videos. You are a very talented and brave young man! Keep on keeping on! Tonic is the bomb! ❤❤
I ride and have several horses, including one Jumper that Breyer Horses made a model of - his name is Repeat the Beat, and called Pete. But, this past year I was diagnosed with cancer, so, my horses are off with my trainer in another state, and while undergoing multiple surgeries and “stuck inside” I have enjoyed your videos immensely - I especially love all things “Tonic” - what a stellar horse and you’ve done an exceptional job in his training. Your videos have been a great reminder and escape - I know good things are yet to come when this is all behind me! ❤. (By the way, y’all ride way crazier on your trail rides (even the fox hunting) than we do in the States😂).
My Welsh Cob , Star, is 30 years old. We got her when she was 2 years old. 😊 I still ride her a little, and last year we gave a lot of pony rides on her. ❤ She's amazing 👏. I enjoyed your trip. Thanks for showing us the map and the journey.
My horses name is SK Anouar Being an endurance rider we also travel a lot. Horses had to like traveling, staying in different stalls and finally love to cover the miles next day. We also sometimes make decisions to go a ride to see new landscapes. Therefore I love your videos by sharing the landscapes while hunting and being in the saddle. Have a great Xmas time 🎉
Loved this video showing all the prep' before and after - care of the horses always so considerate - and rider! I can see a comedy series in this. Thank you for the great entertainment as I lie here recovering from a slip disc and my highland pony has an extended Christmas holiday. Happy hunting
