They need to do a video about adults with ADHD managing in retirement or if they can't work anymore due to chronic illness. When I was working, I seemed to be able to manage time and motivation (taking days off to take advantage of the weather to do needed yard work, etc), but once I got a chronic illness, stopped working...had a lot more struggles...with motivation and execution. I swear if I could get an assistant to do the work I can't seem to do....I could be successful. If only....
Thank you so much for this video and advise. I am 43 and currently being diagnosed with ADHD along with my 12 year old daughter. I have struggled with failures and feeling not good enough for years. Now that I know what ADHD is I am beginning look at the structure I need around me and my daughter to help us succeed. This talk was very useful and insightful, Thank you again :)
This is a fantastic video. I am so glad I found it. I'm looking forward to creating a success journal. I think it could be beneficial to all people, not just for those with ADHD. Looking forward to hearing more talks like this.
I was intrigued by the anecdote about the husband who said _I pretend I'm a spy and I leave no proof I was ever there_ . I do the exact same thing, except I took the habit of formulating the ritual poetically, as a natural law, a truism that must be and can only be realized : -"I will leave this realm as I have joined it, _if not in a better state_ : Without a trace. Star dust. As tears in the rain."
Cost is the primary reason. Drugs are expencive. And the dr visits cost a ton too. Then there is CBT that you have to do. I am having a hell of a time paying $5 gas in $2,000 a month for my rent food cost through the roof can't get good food because that cost twice as much as the garbage food that's already too expensive just keep going and going now I know we can find negative things because we have ADHD but these are realities
AI has been a bit of a godsend to some overwhelming tasks I was struggling to do. It helped me write a business plan and a few other things that were stumping my brain and crippling my productivity.
Came here to say the same thing. My brain started screamingjust seeing how long it is which makes me want to shutdown before starting Going to try to focus as long as I can.
@@BusinessWolf1 I used all what I've been learning to create my own workflow and I've managed to finish 3 projects already. The trick for me is to combine the process with something rewarding instead of waiting until it's done to get the reward. One example is I alternate short periods of working time with 10 minute breaks where I play video games.
So let me get this clear what you're saying is if I just try 50 times harder than everybody else then I could be just as good as they are that's awesome better get me some sleep then Wait I can't sleep cuz I f****** ADHD
Excellent, excellent general lecture on ADHD. Altho subtle, there does appear within it certain spiritual implications. Ultimately, in my mind, at very least, ADHD is appears as a _spiritual_ dis-order.
Now that was a nice business presentation... I have given talks like that to creatives of all kinds for years. It was a part of my job and the best part about this was that I didn't have to do all these things myself. And that's our problem: I can agree that keeping a success journal is a good idea. I can make a slide that says "keeping a success journal is a good idea" - BUT I CAN'T KEEP A SUCCESS JOURNAL because I have ADD and I am unable to execute my own (brilliant) ideas, let alone those of other people. I (edit: am) wondering who this presentation was aiming at... I really wanted to "hotwire" my brain but my brain didn't make it half-way through the video (at 1,5x speed).
I recommend breaking it into chunks and watching at normal speed. You don't need to capture everything in one go. Even Cal Newport who wrote Deep Work only does 90 minute intervals and he has 0 social media and no smart phone or other distractions. Also be careful with the things you believe about yourself. ADD isn't a death sentence. It might be harder for you to acquire certain skills but you can improve. Don't just say you can't do something because you have ADD and leave it at that. You can do it and you can learn to do it better and quicker and easier over time. Have a growth mindset.
@@JohnSmith-zs1bf Totally agree - and trust me, I AM doing that all the time. But some concepts are downright scary for me - simply because the concept is so totally foreign to me that I have no confidence whatsoever that it will ever work for me. *Your encouragement was exactly what's missing in this video!* Hence my rhetorical question: who is this video targeting? If you know ADHDers, then you know that you constantly need to convince them that they CAN change their behaviour...
@@f.d.6667 Yes I agree. A lot of the advice that ADHD people need is the same advice that nonADHD people with poor time management and focus need. It's self defeating in a way to always tell yourself its harder for you because you have adhd. It might be true but it is also a self-limiting belief! You CAN do it, even though it might take you longer and you might have to be creative about how to make it work for you!
It’s not exactly a very ADHD-friendly video is it? There are ways of presenting information to people who have ADHD and this isn’t it. Like offering a workshop to a blind person and then presenting only visuals. Look at “videos by “How to ADHD”. The woman who makes those videos totally understands how to present information to neurodivergent people. I shall continue to listen to it at x2 the speed and hopefully get through it.
I find this talk extremely helpful but also shows how debilitating it is to do anything. a few weeks ago I lost my job once again because I could not self-regulate and needed to remove myself from the situation. capitalism doesn't deal very well neurodivergent individuals
the trick to it is to know when you can just keep going and when you have to stop. so basically, the alarms are useless. so basically you need to self regulate. Which is err.. let's say not easy with ADHD.
Way off subject, your mannerisms remind me so much of Céline Dion. It is incredibly creepy you two are like mother and daughter or like sister and sister.

2x speed my friends, 2x speed
That's what I'm doing too. Lol
That and skim the transcript. So fking wordy this coupd be slimmed down to two minutes and 5 slides
That seems like a very ADHD approach lol

Good bot.
Whoa that is some impressive AI. Usually they just make stuff up but this is actually accurate.
One thing it didn’t mention is when the main talk ends around 1:02:00 it switches to Q&A. That’s why the rest is about other stuff.
So very helpful!!
I developed a coffee shop addiction going three times a day every day and not eating anywhere else.
Same!
