I love theo to death. He needed a break from baseball. Jed has been here the whole time and still embodies the mentality that theo put in place. I trust Jed and appreciate everything theo did for us.
All I can say is..... I’m a hardcore Anthony Rizzo fan considering I used him for a project in 5th grade

Would love. A post Lindor realistic trade rebuild. We all know the Mets, Marlins, and/or someone else is involved in the Lindor Sweepstakes. Cleveland has nice pieces, they just need the perfect trade.
As a huge Cubs fan, I trust Hoyer to make some smart moves this offseason. I'll miss Theo but it was his time. I think that the Cubs will make at least one blockbuster trade. This might include Kris or Kyle. I don't see them giving up Rizzo or Baez. Heyward is locked up in real life and he was really great last year so I see him staying as well. So is Happ.

I don’t think any Cubs fans are happy about Theo leaving I just think we accept it’s time to change it up because somethings not working anymore. I think Theo stepping down is a sign of a new future. It’s already been heavily implied that serious changes are coming and I don’t think Theo who rebuilt the Cubs would want to tear them down in his last year. He’s giving control over to Jed so he has all the time he needs for this rebuild. I’m extremely excited for Jed but I’m ready for some heartbreak this off-season with Bryant, Schwarber, and Baez being in trade talks. I’m extremely grateful for 2016. Theo did his job but it was time to move on.
Heres a tip if you try and sign someone and you make their option player there interest goes up

Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Schwarber, Happ. Only two will go. Bryant probably (even though I hate that) and Schwarber. Rizzo will remain a Cub forever I think and Baez will get a nice extension. Happ will hang around. I really don't wanna let go of Bryant. Cubs fans make it sound as if he sucks. Then again, it's the same people said that about Pedro Strop and Schwarber's defense, but check stats. He's just been injured two of the last three years. He's always produced when he's been healthy. The Cubs better get someone about as good as he is, plus good prospects.
The Cubs will still contend for the division next year too despite a couple trades. People need to realize, the other teams in the division don't really have things figured out... Brewers and Pirates suck, what are the Cardinals doing? And the Reds were World Champions last offseason but were even weaker than the 1ST PLACE Cubs and might lose Bauer and Gray this offseason... The Cubs aren't gonna suck next season.

Set a good foundation but like you said lacking that key piece to make the final champion push.
As a Cubs fan, I personally love Theo. He got us a WS ring and that’s something we’ll never forget. I do trust in Hoyer though as the new man for the job.
I’m bummed, but optimistic. I love Theo and he won Chicago championship so he will forever be loved by cubs fans. These last few years though, it was obvious we need change.
They should trade Bryant and Kyle Hendricks. Get as much back as they can

Hendricks too along with some hitters? I don't wanna trade too many people. People need to realize this division isn't exactly set in stone. Brewers and Pirates suck, who knows what the Cardinals are doing and the Reds were world champions last offseason but didn't do any better than the 1st place Cubs and they might lose Bauer and Gray (trade rumors) this offseason. The Cubs should still wanna try and contend for the division next season, which won't be hard.
Josh Naylor is a glitch. He hits 25-30 Homers a year. Try and get him next rebuild.

cubs fans here, I loved him sooooo much, and I'm so sad he resigned and just left, not took his time, all of my family and close friends that are cubs fans and know the cubs think that this coming year will be a rebuild year :/
The Cubs should be fine, i would love another world series this year but i would chalk it up to a successful year if we make a deep playoff run

Since, 2016, Theo has only led the Cubs to 1 winning series in the postseason
As a Cubs fan I really wish they would consider trading Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber for Joey Gallo and some prospects. David Bote is a fine piece on the hot corner for the time being.
Also wouldn’t mind a Dodgers trade for Gavin Lux and some of their Stud pitching prospects
The Rays lost Morton and Arozorana and are trading Blake Snell
