My dear fellow. I am so sorry. We are the same age. I was 54 this Oct 2023. I am divorced and have been single for the past ten years through choice. So many nutters. They either want you for your money, or are so fat and overweight they are desperate and or have so much baggage and issues of their own in tow. I never had kids either. And yes it can be lonely. BUT its also liberating, freedom, time to do what you want, with your cash and no one else telling you what you can and cant do and when to do it. Its almost like being a child again, with less restrictions, and the cash to get whatever treats you wish. Stay strong. I was 18 when this Christmas from 87 trailers were on tv. I was also working for a nasty vindictive bully of a boss in a job I hated and doing forty hours a week for only £60. Things improved and I got out of there, but it was many years later so all these happy xmas memories of past tv etc just remind me of the brief highs, the fun parts of Christmas, but looming over it all, was the knowledge that in a few days I would be back in that horrible job again. Getting used and abused for almost nine hours a day, every day, till I wanted to kill myself. Or the bully boss...it was a miracle I did not snap. Anyhoo, that was years ago. Enjoy and make the most of your time, your freedom and dont stress on the fact your on your own. Own it instead. Be you, and enjoy life and make the most of your health and time on earth....

The BBC got record complaints after Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was broadcast on Xmas day - because of the violent and gory content. Points of View had them all on.
ask a kid in the 80s the 'magical' part of Christmas TV was the build-up of programmes from the start of December; silly things like Willo the Wisp or Saturday Superstore/Going Live

The Temple of Doom showing mentioned on Xmas day was the first film my Nan God rest her used her video recorder to tape for me. When Christmas was enjoying, now it’s so commercialized, will it still be celebrated in fifty years?
Remember re tuning to ITV at 8.00pm on Christmas eve
The BBC got record complaints after Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was broadcast on Xmas day - because of the violent and gory content. Points of View had them all on.
Better times. We had nothing but had things you cant buy
There was imagination in those days ❤️
ask a kid in the 80s the 'magical' part of Christmas TV was the build-up of programmes from the start of December; silly things like Willo the Wisp or Saturday Superstore/Going Live
who is this at 0:33 ? I recognise his face but not seen him since I was a kid lol
This is what TV schedules looked like before it became necessary to tell people if it was morning or afternoon with a 24 hour clock
thanks for this
Yes, times were hard.
When Christmas TV was still special and you looked forward to it. Now it's 10 days of garbage.
Jimmy Saville & Bernard Manning - that’s a wild Christmas Eve lineup!
BBC and ITV may have been PDF factories, but these were good times, sadly gone forever. Weak people create hard times.
Oh, I’d just met my first boyfriend this Christmas…..still married to him all these years later. Miss those days! 😢
Yes TV was better and you even got proper adverts then ? Now all you get it people wanting money, Insurance, And money for funerals. Disgusting!!!!!
Same here i wish i planned out my life better than it actually is working has a drivers mate world feels so divided should of paid more attention at school but not all doom and gloom got a beautiful mrs that all at counts♥️♥️😀😀😀😀😀
Always a shame when you leave the festive season behind! Next year, why not cancel Netflix and Disney Plus in November and restart them in January, so you can replicate the delights of Christmas television live and without streaming!
The Temple of Doom showing mentioned on Xmas day was the first film my Nan God rest her used her video recorder to tape for me.
We didn't even have a video but I could watch it after school when she looked after me before my mum got home from work.
I could probably still act out that whole film from memory the amount of times I watched it 😂.
The rest of the shows I don't really share the majority opinion on that TV was better then.
Christmas was really the ONLY time it was decent but apart from maybe a Fools and Horses xmas special the pickings were fairly slim
Jimmy Saville.
Bernard Manning.
Philip Schofield.
Alf Garnett.
Family viewing for all!
I think you're being a bit harsh on Jimmy Saville.......😅
I always thought there was something wrong with Jimmy though.
Now then, now then. Jingle Jangle. How's about that, then, guys and gals?
Was that Phil Scofield at the start??? Well, he will not be back on BBC or ITV anytime soon!
Lenny Henry making sure it's not a totally white Christmas.
I'm sure many people on here think that's where the rot started. That and the couple of Black people in 'Only Fools And Horses'. Woke etc etc blah blah blah
oh dear! philip schofield !
Back when the BBC was normal
The story of Abba on channel 4... In 1987 Abba were just about persona non grata
No Bond film on Boxing Day! 😟
I bet there was on New Years Day
Russ abbot still funny today..then the flipside lenny Henry about as funny as piles.
