    I’m about to sign an option 40 with 13F MOS. I got a buddy in 3rd batt whose doing it and loves it. Can’t wait for the challenge of pushing through training, and for the responsibility that comes with the job!

    I loved how you guys explained the differences between an 11B and a 13F. I never heard it explained the way you two did and so far it’s the best that I have come across. You guys actually describe perfectly the different job knowledge/experiences between 13Fs in conventional and SOF Army, and some of the issues we saw coming down the pipe when 13Fs were moved back from the Infantry units to the Arty battalions. From personal experience, FOs need to be at the Infantry units, because that’s who you are going to war with. Also, FOs needs to be it’s own MOS/Branch with it’s own officers, be able to become JTAC qualified and become less dependent on TACP using the USMC JTAC course model. Lastly, in a peer to peer war, you will be clearing rooms if you’re in an urban environment. Please read military history books. Regardless of era or weapons being used, in a city, you are clearing it if the enemy is holding it. And yes, there was plenty of room clearing during WWII, just dependent on what front and location you were fighting in.The key is to determine whether or not you need to clear that city or a section of it or if you can just bypass it. Just my 2 cents. Thank for sharing your experiences, knowledge and thoughts. Great work!

    Thank you for bringing up and telling these younger kids to not let the Army Recruiters to bully you. I’m a lot older then you two and the best advice I got was from Ole CSM LG back. In the 90’s . He told me it’s your career not theirs .

    Thank you so much for this! I just reserved my spot as 13F, and I should be shipping to basic on Aug. 22. I'm volunteering for rasp as soon as possible (hopefully from AIT), as there were no option 40s left. I was trying to decide between 11x and 13f, especially with the ranger experience in mind. This is a great resource, thanks for filming this!

While at Harmony Church during my AIT , in 1985, I was going to go to Airborne and RIP. However, a few months before I shipped out to BCT, I met my future and current wife. My military plans changed. So I'm a prior service Marine going into 13f as an E4 and volunteering for the 75th. Have you encountered any prior service or guys that have lat moved into 13f into regiment and how well did they integrate with being new to the Regiment and not being tabbed?

    • @brandonrodriguez6334

    • @jayteeegaming182
      @jayteeegaming182 2 года назад +5

      So I will field this one. There are a lot of imports in regiment, whether from the regular army or other branches. You'll get a little shit for being an "import" but its mostly just shit talking that I'm sure you're already fully integrated into being a marine lol. You will essentially be a private which I know does not sound ideal. If you are in good shape and study hard though you can jump the list to go to ranger school if you are really the best person for the job. Learning a new MOS is going to be hard, but having knowledge of the military in general allows you to sort of skip learning to be in the military so you can focus on job knowledge.
      Okay I sort of rambled there. Long story short, work hard and study and you will excel. Some of my best leaders in regiment were imports!

    Is there a connection between the skills learned as a 13F and the skills to be learned as an 18E? I would assume that there is a correlation and the skills learned as an observer may be useful if you plan to move up into SF later into your career.

    • @TrainLikeaRanger
      @TrainLikeaRanger  2 года назад +5

      Yes there is. You will learn a ton about operating radios and have a background as a 13F will allow you to effectively call for fire if needed. When I was in Bragg I used to help train the SF group how to call for fire! -Jay
